However, they are united with elite classes against the left party. Those young people protest in Hong Kong for what? Democracy and freedom? Will the democracy bring the freedom to those young people without change the economic and political system which are designed for the “Big Four Elite Families”? The protest in France already provides the answer, that is NO! I am sad for the people in Hong Kong, like Don Quijote, they are fighting with the Giant whom never exist. The protest in Hong Kong is a mission for suicide, which can destroy the future of “Big Four” and people in Hong Kong eventually.

    This is cringeworthy propaganda...sure I’m proud of being Chinese but there are many ways to show patriotism - there’s no need to be a sycophant to a flag and sing fervently to a national anthem that’s just plain superficial and frankly useless for your country. Saluting a flag and flattering does not advance a country. If you truly want to demonstrate your patriotism then perform your civic duty and help out your community, donate to causes you believe in, and keep improving yourself and advancing your career so you can be in a position to contribute and influence society in a positive manner. All the while doing all of this humbly, quietly, with integrity and without needing to seek recognition from others, that’s a true patriot right there. If you want to celebrate 70 years then let’s celebrate our historic achievements and take stock of how far we’ve come, rather than indulge in this meaningless propaganda.

      @penguinpingu3807 2 года назад

      After 3 years since the first protest in 2019, I have changed my mind and don't support the Hong Kong protest anymore. Here is the reasons.
      First, protesters wave colonial flags and the US flags just to get attention of the US, UK and the western world in general. If the protesters care about the city so much then they will be waving the HK flag to fight for change. Symbols matter to a protest, all I see is signs of US and British interference.
      Second, the US doesn't represent freedom and democracy, it's a sham democracy. It's a duopoly on power, from 2 right wing parties, that doesn't serve any interest for the regular citizens of the United States but serves the interests of the rich and powerful capitalists.
      Third, the UK colonial flag. Nobody, that loved HK so much that they will to wave their former colonisers flag. Not even desperate peoples would do that, only paid or brain washed fools would do that. During, the British colonial times, HK does not even have democracy. All of their leaders are chosen in London and not from Hong Kong. The British only introduce democracy to Hong Kong when they have to return the city back to China. Oh, I wonder why?
      Finally, no protest leaders in history is that desperate, to go to foreign countries and meet with the leaders of the nation they went and ask them to interfere with the local politics and ask sanctions on the city. No sane protest leader would do that, ever. Sanctions doesn't benefit anyone, it hurts the poor but not the rich. Wanting political interference by foreign countries is signalling that you are politically weak and unable to do anything and ripe for exploit for foreign countries to further their interest.

    Any lawyers here? Is there a human right that says people of a nation have a right to self determination? I'm curious whether people of hk could have held a referendum at the end of the 99 year lease to determine whether they wanted to remain independent.

      Dude they were never independent in the first place. They went from being a Chinese port to becoming a British colony (albeit a temporary one) then back to being part of China as a special administrative region. Independence was never part of the equation, it was always a question of who ruled over them.

      IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN PART OF CHINA. Omfg, the British invaded China and demanded handling over land to British. China suffered humiliation and seeing the HK protester, im sure XI will never step down because of foreign influence and intervention. Go to the airport of HK right now and u will see foreigner begging the protester to let them go back home.

      BoA Yoon You guys probably do not know that Cantonese is not a language, it is a Chinese dialect.People outside HK also speak that. So we speaks the same language in fact. The difference is just Mandarin is the widely spoken version of Chinese while Cantonese is also spoken by people from Canton province,including Hk geographically.

    • @boayoon8715
      @boayoon8715 5 лет назад +1

      Yanmin Lu Cantonese is a much older language than mandarin. To say Cantonese is not a language is completely wrong and false.

    • @juliusl5821
      @juliusl5821 5 лет назад

      I just can not understand why some outsiders always suppose that they know Chinese language better than we do. Mandarin, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Sichuaneae etc essentially are all Han people’s language, which can be classified as Chinese in a whole. All ethnic Chinese people know that!The more valid point is that a language must also has its independent written form.Does Cantonese have written form?In Hk or Canton province is there any book written in Cantonese?Are they able to write any book in a dialect?The answer is absolutely no! The official writing language is Hk is called classic Chinese, while in the mainland writing language is simplified Chinese.You don’t speak our language, then don’t pretend to be an expert,ok?
      You said Cantonese is older than Mandarin, it is correct.But problem is both of them are just the spoken form of one language,Chinese! To say Cantonese is not Chinese is as ridiculous as to say Canadian French is not French, American English is not English.
