      No. That dossier only confirms that the Thalmor see Ulfric as an asset and an uncooperative one at that. This means they see him to be manipulated where they can. Funding him through more than likely a proxy as well, someone Ulfriv trusts but does not know of this person's betrayal. Maybe the proxy is done through a chain of proxies, as spies have to be very careful.
      Ulfric ultimately feels guilt that the information tortured out of him is what he falsely believed what lost a "city?" to the Thalmor when they had already taken it. Ulfric also feels betrayed by The Empire as they are willing to bend the knee to an evil foreign power at the cost of freedom for it's citizens to worship an actual ascendant god in Talos as proven in Oblivion via the blood of an aedra quest. This is the Empire forfeiting any rightful sovereignty over it's citizens for a false peace.
      While Stormcloaks might not like or even hate elves, the ones that prove themselves are accepted by most Nords in general.
      Please consider what spies consider an asset, as an asset may be willing, unwilling and or unwittingly be of assistance. The fact the Thalmor think they consider Ulfric as an asset does exhibit any measure of control they have over him, only that they THINK they do as they are just that arrogant.

      Sounds interesting to see. Ulfric has no heir and I believe he the youngest of the Jarl men. Although Ulfric wanted to fight the war till the last Nord standing. The emperor and Tulius know that the thalmor call the war "the first war" ulfric calls it the war. He's not expecting a round 2. Like mentioned in the video Ulfric is kill first question later and why leave Elisif alive hmmm what would happen to her after ulfric takes the crown of the high king?

    Somehow, I doubt Ulfric's plan to seduce Elisif would involve making her hate his guts like that. If that was the case, why not just get the Dark Brotherhood to deal with him? Then, he could have reached out to Elisif as her 'shoulder to cry on', and she'd have no idea. He leaves Elisif alive because she's not exactly a fighter herself, and her only power came from the Empire manipulating her.
    As for Ulfric's plan to deal with the Thalmor, how about letting him finish one war, and rebuilding Skyrim, before starting the next one? And THANK YOU for acknowledging that Helgen gives players ABSOLUTELY NO INCENTIVE to join the Empire. Between that and the Dark Brotherhood questline, it's almost as if Bethesda WANTS players to go Stormcloak.

  • @highlordlaughterofcanada8685
    @highlordlaughterofcanada8685 6 месяцев назад +11

    I know you write these videos as though you were Dagoth Ur, but you got quite a bit of things wrong this time around. Hammerfell won because they were fighting a Dominion weakened by a war against the Empire and had help from Legion troops who stayed behind even after the signing of the Concordat. Tulius tried to execute Ulfric with no trial as to quickly end the civil war, a war that was only weakening Skyrim and the Empire. There was cut dialog in the opening cut scene where Elenwen was chastizing Tulius for this too,and Hadvar mentions how he thought they were taking Ulfric and friito Cyrodiil, where the Thalmor could more easily orchestrate his escape. The Dominion want the civil war to drag on so that both sides become to weak to fight back when they decide to eventually invade, regardless of who wins the civil war. This is why Tullius is considered a genius, because he sees the bigger picture. He captured Ulfric within a few months of being posted to Skyrim, Hadvar also mentions how he turned things around for the Empire too. It took Alduin crashing the excecution and a literal Dragonborn for the Stormcloaks to win in their story, and while the Legion lean heavily on you too, with everything we know about Tullius we can safey assume that he would eventually capture Ulfric again. As for Legate Rikke saying "Talos guide you", Rikke is his second-in-command, his expert on the Nords and a competent officer, with Tullius having no love for the Dominion, why would he report such an obvious violation of the treaty and hand over such a valuable officer to the Thalmor? Dagoth Ur's knowledge of the Civil War has room for improvement, but his critiques on the actual gameplay of the Civil "War" is spot on. Yes hardware and engine limitations for consoles prevented a proper war, but if thats the case, why did they bother writing a Civil War quest to begin with? And since it has two possible endings, you just know they're going to say "It was a Dragon Break and the Empire and Stormcloaks both won the war" as a cop out.

    what i always hated about the civil war was not just the strange story telling but also the fact they shoe horned the imperials to be the right option so hard its crazy i remember that note in the thalmor embassy saying something along the lines of if ulfric wins it would weaken the empire even more so the elfs can take back control ect ect which is honestly terrible for everyone in the grand of things because even if ulfric wasn't some idiot leader and had actual good character and leadership it would still be the wrong choice to side with the stormcloaks simply for the fact that note exists in the first place as you would in the long run be screwing over EVERYONE not just skyrim...and if i also remember general tullius is hoping to win this war and gather enough strength to fight back the thalmor once again...making the empire even more obvious to pick...if that note simply didn't exist i would side with the cloaks but i can't bring myself to be played like a fool.

    • @lightborn9071
      @lightborn9071 5 месяцев назад +1

      There is a certain catch though. The enterity of the game is about how breaking with tradition leads to ruin, every faction and even the main quest has this message, but the civil war is the only one where you can pick the side. Beside this, you have to inform yourself about the markath incident, since it shows how weak the imperials really are and why the civil war started in the first place.
      Basically the empire couldn't claim the Reach back so they promised to allow Talos worship if Ulfric would come and save the day. He liberated the Reach as requested, but the elves found out and insticated the civil war by ordering the empire to fall Ulfric into the back, so the empire decided that it's a good idea to turn against the man who's troops just outclassed them instead of siding with him, you know, GATHERING FORCES.
      This is why most nords are now against the empire and it is why they see Ulfric as an asset, just like every figure in this civil war is an asset to them.
      And as I wrote before, every faction in the game had to face the consequences of breaking with tradition, sooner or later the empire will pay their toll as well.

    If irl for example the USA and Iran had a war and after neither side gained any ground the USA said "let's stop fighting and we'll agree to let you guys send troops inside of our territories and arrest any Christians" would anyone think that Iran didn't win in that conflict?
    Skyrim breaking off and declaring independence was the right decision, it just should have been the high king who decided to do it, not a governor/general who tried to usurp the throne and got captured.
    Remember had Alduin not intervened that the game would have ended as soon as it began with Ulfric's execution. And that's another thing if you're Tullius and you have the leader of the rebellion bound and lined up fir the executioner's block would you really choose to have 3 random people executed instead of having Ulfric be the first to the chopping block?
    So yeah the empire were a bunch of incompetents who would only win with the help of an oursider(and one that they had lined up for the chopping block at that).

    • @highlordlaughterofcanada8685
      @highlordlaughterofcanada8685 6 месяцев назад +4

      Because it's a stupid notion. Hammerfell only won because the Dominion was weakened from fighting the Empire, and Hammerfell still had Legion forces who stayed behind after the treaty was signed to help them. Hammerfell wasn't being weakened before hand by a Civil War either. No matter who wins the Civil War, they'll be too weak from it to defend Skyrim from a Dominion attack. The Stormcloaks will be the worse off of the two however as they have a smaller army, smaller recruit ment pool, lack of standardized training and equipment and less territory to recruit from. The xenophobic nature of the Stormcloaks also will also limit who will fight for him, sure Galmar may not care about your race, but many Nords do, including Ulfric as shown with the Dark Elves and Argonians. Plus many of their fighting men and woman will be wounded from the fight with the Empire. There's also the Nord's distrust of magic, and we see no Stormcloaks Battlemages, just mentions of healers, so they don't benefit from the tactical opportunities granted by having them. Stormcloaks also lack a navy of any kind and would have to build one from the ground up, nor do they have an effective spy network, as they are forced to use people like the player for espionage. Ulfric was also outsmarted and nearly executed by Tullius, saved only because Aldiun showed up, and was already struggling against the Empire after Tullius took over the war effort according to Hadvar. It takes a Dragon Crisis to slow the Legion down enough for Ulfric to be a treat to Tullius, and he needs the Dragonborn to actually win, where Tullius would likely just outmaneuver Ulfric again in the future even without the player, he's already done it once and only failed because of Aldiun. So yeah, they kinda do need to be united so that they can utilize the numbers, training, tactics, equipment and logistics of the more powerful and better organized Empire if they want to stand a chance against the far larger, better equipped and better prepared Dominion. Meanwhile if the Empire loses the Civil War, despite the huge blow of losing Skyrim and it's assets, the Empire will still control two mostly intact provinces where the Stormcloaks have a war ravaged one with a Dragon problem.

I was willing to discuss this but you'd rather be a dick with the emojis than actually talk about it. based on your other comments I can tell you think you act like you know more than you really do and don't take the time to actually fact check and research this sort of stuff before commenting as though you are correct. I was genuinely wanting to see why you think Skyrim could win on it's own and curious as to why you thought that way, you may have been able to convince me, but forget about it, we're done here. You have no interest in discussion, you're just trying to piss people off.

    I admit, I am curious about this whole "Jarl of Solitude and Ulfric secret tryst" theory. But another elf catches my attention for gossip and rumor.
    The Altmer Abassador. Cant think of her name, my memory is just bad. Sorry.
    Anyway, Ulfric freaks out when he sees her at the peace talks....which many people suspect something happened between them. Theres even a somg dedicated to them, known as Careless Thuum.

      Yeah you're reading too much into that interaction. He hates her because she's Thalmor and the incarnation of everything he fights against. Elenwen was tasked with interrogating Ulfric when he was captured during the Great War. They were never romantically involved, thank god.

      @@highlordlaughterofcanada8685 Elenwen, that was her name! Thank you High Lord.
      Okay, maybe I am seeing something that does not exist between the elf and Ulfric. Still, I was thinking that maybe to break Ulfric further, Elenwen used herself as a "honey trap", using herself to get close to Ulfric and break his mind further for the Thalmors plans.
      But I am grateful that they were not in a romantic relationship, the thought hurts my brain.
      I thank you for the correction, please have a pleasant day.
