Is Toyota DOMINATING now? Or is there a better manufacturer our there? 🌩
Toyota took the right step
most of the other manufacturers are focusing on making electric cars
i want this engine in a 86,get this boxer shit outta here
Dear Toyota, please do something about insane markups charged by dealers on all your awesome models. Especially hybrid minivans, SUVs and sports cars all have markups. This is bad for business and bad for company.
@Camman18 i hate boxer engines
tesla M3P can kill this car easy
I'm excited for this - but let's be clear - Subaru KILLED the STi on its own. Toyota just came in at the perfect time.
accurate. weird styling, cheaper lower model that can be moded cheaper then an sti, and cost...i'm surprised it lasted that long.
VW killed the STI
@@ChrisParayno exactly but another thing is we the consumers are letting these manufacturers dictate on what we purchase lease etc. As much as I seen negative comments bout evs through the internet social media etc you would of thought ev sales were slowing down but unfortunately it ain't

They limited the run on the manual Carolla, the base models are not for enthusiast. Yeah the 22 WRX STI is bad looking, get the 21 / earlier or EV.
It would sell like candy in Europe where there are road taxes based on engine size. Fun fact in Greece right now the world's fastest evo is for sale. The wrx and evos are the most owned performance sedans there (and the most owned sport car is probably the Toyota cellica) because a 2l engine had affordable road tax, a 1.6l engine is in an even more affordable class it'd be steal.
lmao Extreme Tuners are the biggest con artists in the Evo game. No one takes them seriously. Their car has always ran like shit. Claimed their car was a street car but have to idle it with their foot on the gas. Also guessin from your name you are from Greece. I hope someone buys the car just to show everyone it really doesn't do what they say it does.
We have the gr yaris instead.not sure of any reasons to choose the corolla over that
GR Yaris!
It's based on emissions per 100km not engine size.
@@MrSherlockDomes I'm from Greece yeah, but live in the US (in Greece for Easter). In the site it's classified as a race car, not a street car, also they're asking for 80k euro which is a lot, if you have 80k to spend to a car you don't give a shit about the tax (also it's an automatic) you'd be better off buying an r8 and spending the 40k remaining on mods, as for it being fake I don't doubt it (that it might be fake, not the first time the Guinness records were faked) same shit with project chaos (that's 100% fake).
It’s about time. I’m a Matrix owner and I had high hopes they’d get into the WRX/EVO market when they introduced it 20+ years ago but they never did with the engine options. Toyota and Subaru have done joint ventures for decades and kind of why I always thought they never made a competitor in this market. Glad to see a little turbocharged racer though finally. Some of my favorite kind of cars.
Drove an 85 corolla seca from 96 to 02. Flogged it every way possible including some pretty knarly trails. It was strong yet light.
Ya that what I think of the Corolla. AE 86. What does he mean an anti enthusiast car?!?!
Toyota is absolutely dominating right now. Glad to see it.
To be honest, it has been since the 2000s. Honda is very close to Toyota, but still.
Dominating how ? their best cars a BMW in the LFA wouldn't sell so Toyota sit on them for 6 years 🤣 their best car ever was their biggest flop ever. But yeah the Gonzo boys couldn't even make a new 2 l engine for the Corolla they had to keep the same 1.6 Gonzo from the Yaris so why not get the Yaris it's much lighter and more rallyish so let's put the same power train in a heavier Corolla and call it a win? Jokes
Subaru has been dominating this class and they're not even making an STI this year so yeah perfect time for Toyota to step up their game LOL when there's no competition I guess you are dominating LOL

I'm honestly glad to see all these little hot hatches popping up. Powerfull enough to be fun but reasonable enough to be a daily.

Subarus 15 min fame for the STI was at its peak from 2004-2012 then slowly dwindled down the drain. What's an interesting coincidence is that in 2013 Subaru replaced their STI chief design Engineer and 2014 to today its just been face palm after face palm.
STis fame only after 2004?! Really?! STis were famous everywhere since the 90's, much like Evos back then and they had a good run. I sure had both! In my opinion, Subaru's downfall started when Toyota bought a large stake in it, I think back in 2005. No long after, Subaru cars started to look more and more like Camrys. Subarus were easily identifiable but their frameless doors (the part around the windows I mean) but from 2009/10 they were gone! Subaru lost its identity and it has sadly become more like a branch of Toyota.

*Just some Food for thought for those questioning and even dismissing the 1.6L 3 cylinder engines potential*
this engine has been here in Australia for like 2 years or so now with the GR yarris.
A Workshop here in Melbourne using basically a stock engine (onlly mechanical update being new valve springs) managed to squeeze out 473 hp at the wheels, and this is currently the most powerful GR Yaris on the planet.
That's funny he talks about direct competition type r and sti and not a words about the golf R which I believe it is the main competition to the GR lol
I remember that. I had an '83 Celica GT-S. Loved that car, and it's big brother the Supra.
In my opinion the '83 is the year for that body style. Mainly because of the steering wheel and the dash. The following year they went to this wheel with a padded square in themiddle (for the airbag) and it changed the look of dash. Gone were the the dials on either side. It also had the best driver.
Honda should take notes for their s660 . 3 cyl with boost and 300hp is genius
I mean the thing with the s660 are funny kei car laws so i suppose if they decide to make a spec that isn't a kei it would probably work yea
@@ioey5440 I mean for usdm
They should just put a modern engine in the S2000 body and launch it. 2 liter turbo vtec from FK8. New S3000 car will smash all sales records. Offer a coupe and convertible.

@@cindysue5474 The G16E has been tuned up to 400-500hp with stock internals..

we'll prob see an Ev sure but this engine is young. no way they invested all of that only to put it in 2 cars (or one global car, consider yaris/corolla a singular global car).

how did you not see it coming when its been public info since the GR yarris was released, peaople are such simps for the GR rolla, im a rolla simp, but 3cyl in the GR rolla was unnaceptable from the get go, its litrally just a heavier yarris, it hasnt "just killed" anything.
This is amazing since I was debating on making my 2010 corolla into a manual, engine swapping it, and doing a bunch of things to it, and Toyota being ballsy did this
Won’t take $40,000 to do it go for it when dodge comes out with the straight 6 I’m putting it in my 2013 not getting a new charger.
ballsy ? whats balllsy? they took the engine from a yarris and put it in a heavier car, , , smh, , people realy have no fucking clue
@@coreybennit9197 I called Toyota "ballsy" for putting 300 horsepower into a corolla! This is something Toyota has not done in a long time. They turned their "daily commuter" into a power house. This literally pushes as much power as a Ford Focus ST, and the SXT packages from Dodge. I may not work on engines, but I know my cars fairly well.
@@Tangledbawlz so, its just a heavier yarris? the only reason to buy the rolla is 4 doors, the younger brother (yaris) will still outperform it, if they built a 4cyl for it they would have my current rolla and a deposit for a GR rolla, , the point of it is modded car high performance, not door count.

@@sharkath55 I agree I'm not a fan of dealerships and the way they operate. Even buying one online has proven to be a pain because when you show suddenly there's extra fees all of a sudden. In their defense though they are dealing with limited inventory and the good dealerships that actually have reasonable prices normally make a profit through volum. If Toyota is only going to make a set number it screws the dealerships out of that possibility.

I have a 2015 sedan, it drives well and its a base model, In also have a fully modded AE86. Corolla has always been a fun underpowered, tight platform, stock or otherwise.
"The average new car cost is $47k, so $40K-$45K for a Corolla sounds pretty reasonable." Is that how it works? You just take the average cost of all cars and apply that number to a Corolla and that "sounds reasonable"? This car should be $10K less for what it is, and even that is overpriced.

The Toyota AE86 was legendary ... in Japan. In the United States it was just a girls' 2-door car
Until 15 years ago no American knew who Keichi Tsuchiya was
And by 2012 very few Americans knew who he was and what he was doing for a living
Impreza STI was a world legend even before it landed in the United States. Those who killed the STIs are not Toyota, but Subaru themselves.
Anime becoming more mainstream has made them more popular in the West in recent years, I think. Just look how the prices on them have been going up.
I’m not sure if STIs were lacking in sales, but I heard too many saying I will just get a wrx for cheaper and modify that. Maybe subaru said ok just give them the wrx then…

Great video! Having once owned a Corolla GT from the ‘80s, the GR Corolla will be a blast to drive. BTW that 3-cylinder engine in the Corolla was built by Yamaha.
Yamaha? Fr??
Built by Yamaha? Source?
The engine is also largely hand-built, as is the rest of the GR Corolla, at Toyota's Motomachi plant. This engine is a technical marvel, one of just a handful on the market offering 100 horsepower per cylinder, and its specific output of 187.5 hp/liter matches that of a Bugatti Chiron
I found this about the Engine, you are completely wrong.
Lol Yamaha is not involved here bud.
Yamah built the 2zzge motor found in the Corolla xrs 2005-2006
That isn't an official price. It's more than likely gonna be around $44k for the circuit edition and the core edition will probably start at $34k
And markup at 20k
Markup will be 10k. Toyota dealers are killing off their prestigious models with insane markup. I have stopped calling dealers because they are very rude.
There is no way the base model will be 34k. The CTR base is roughly 38 and this thing has a super complex AWD system. Good luck paying under 50k for any of these and I guarantee they will all be sold upon arrival. 1 per qualified dealership is what I've been reading.

They need to take that 3 cylinder engine and slap two of them together to make a 3.2L inline 6. Then, throw it in the Supra and add the option for a manual transmission. The GR Corolla’s engine apparently can handle nearly 500HP completely stock, imagine how much power it could handle completely stock if it was made into an inline 6.
But the supra will get the manual next year so I don't think it would sense .

The dealerships are going to crank up the price to 10k or more over the MSRP. I guarantee you all folks will still buy it and prove to dealers we dont care about the markup. BUT we all do. I'm going to buy a gr corrola bcs it seems like a fun car
Note: THEY ARE LETTING US TO PRE-ORDER THE CAR!!!! I DID IT
You have to tell me about your experience with the car once you have it. I'm happy for you.
Enjoy bro
Because manufacturers now knows small and lightweight cars with smaller gas tank had better sales than big overweight sports cars... the 90's could have a chance of returning..

@@onewisedre EV is not going to survive or sustained itself %100.. one reason is how everyone has to wait 15mins-30mins at the charging station imagine 10-20 people waiting in line for 1 charger? It's chaotic!
Most times it amazes me greatly the way I move from an average lifestyle to earning over 63k per month, utter shock is the word. have understood a lot in the past few years to doubt that opportunities abound in the financial markets, The only thing is to know where to focus.
@RONATO Johnson Anyways not actually, what I know about trading almost borders on zilch lol. I make huge profits on my investment since I started trading with Mrs Debbie Ramirez, her trading strategies are top notch coupled with the little commission she charges on her trade.
@@thomasnorris7285 really are you giving her your money or your coin?
@@ebonicalbert5711 My coin stays right in my trading account, my account just mirrors her trades in real-time that's the idea behind copy trading.

@RONATO Johnson Sure, meet her up on Telgram...
Roger's "Freddy, the 80's are over" was edited in perfectly 🥰 made my day 👌
Awe yes the good ole “right wheel drive” AE86 😂 thank you for the good chuckle
🤩👍 TOYOTA ❤️
0:40 editor feeling some typa way 😂😂
Base 30k then maybe. Just about fell over when he said 40k for the base model. who would ever pick this over a mustang GT that starts at 38?
Another great corolla is the corolla rxi and rsi it was a staple for enthusiast in South Africa and they are extremely fun to drive and rev out
You got me soo pumped on this car Brad!! 😭❤💯
I was a real enthusiast and lover of manual transmissions, drove then for 20 years straight... THEN I drove my first auto with manual option (paddle shifters), took some time to get used, said it was not as good... and today, after 10 years of auto with paddle shifters (I still ALWAYS manual shift) I do prefer BY FAR paddles shifter to pure manual transmission. It´s simply better IF it´s in a powerfull car and the transmission is FAST.
Apparently they’re also going to release a manual mk5 supra and the transmission will be their own, not a BMW transmission
also lets not foerget about the ae92 gt-s. you slap the oem head onto the 90-91 smallport block, throw on a header and intake then tune the maf, and have fun ripping around with 150hp. it's not the fastest thing but it sure was fun.
Wow!! 304hp and 273ft/lbs of torque pumped out of a turbo 3cyl with 22lbs of boost from the factory. Now I'm not insulting the legendary mk4 supra, but the corolla GR seems like it'll be alot more fun to drive than a stock 6 speed/twin turbo supra back in the day! With the GR your pretty much getting an already "built" car from the factory! I'm sure enthusiasts will find ways to modify the GR and make it even more fun, but the GR kinda doesn't need it, where as with an mk4 supra you need to sink some money into it to make it as fun to drive as the GR!! Also, my jaw dropped, and I actually said "whoa!" 3 times out loud during this video! That little hatchback is fucking nuts! Internal combustion engines are going out with a bang considering all the other cars and trucks on the market that hold the title of world's most powerful production car or truck! That makes me feel a bit less bitter about the switch to EVs. Maybe in the future cars that we all love or loved will still be on the road with special permits and not disappear completely.
great, limited production. amazing. so after years of waiting to get one and dealer markups past amg prices we'll maybe get our hands on one.
Thanks for only the freeing this as a stick. This and the type r. What a summer coming up.
Started with the ae86? The twin cam, twin carb te27, te37, twin cam fuel injected te71, the ae82 fx gt 4a-ge powered hatch, same package in the ae92, then the 20 valve 4a-ge in the ae101 corolla hatch, and coupes of the ae models, then the black top 20 valve 4a-ge powered, 6 speed manual ae111 corolla levin/sprinter trueno, and the ultimate sleeper ae101 bz touring wagon, with the same mechanical package as the coupe. There have been hot corollas almost in every generation. The blade master g is a jdm corolla with a v6! It's just that toyota usually kept the good stuff in Japan, but corollas in their home land have almost never been without a fun version in the line up. But all anyone thinks of is the bloody ae86
Thought I found a cool car channel, then the words were spoken: "you probably weren't born then".... I kept watching, but while a single tear ran across my cheek....
last night i was cuttin on i-55 while driving a 2021 rav 4 and i was smoking the focus that was trying to keep up
The Lexus LFA is not only the best sounding super car, for me it is the best super car. I absolutely love the car.
Toyota used to have the blade master g, it came with 2GR-FE engine. And it’s V6, but they didn’t pursue the aftermarket side of it, when TRD was still the main in-house tuning shop.
My wife has the six-speed first year matrix with the cool engine. It's in your perfect hatchback except for that it's front wheel drive only. I thought for a long time but they absolutely failed people my age by not letting us know this car existed while they were selling it. And also that it needed to be all-wheel drive from day one. Toyota only ever offered the matrix as all-wheel drive in the cushy slush box version.
Front grill has more honeycomb than a bees nest, I like it 👌👍
Damn, I'm not a huge fan of how the rear looks, I know I know...I'm probably in the minority, but if I could, I would STILL buy one just because of what Toyota was able to do with that tiny engine. Holy cow, that is super cool and I wish more manufacturers did stuff like this with their lower end models. More variety for the consumer is always welcome!
if i wasnt already tired of my driving my 6 speed in congested urban Melbourne - I would seriously consider this
In a car it's an "oh, it's just a 3 cylinder"
In a bike it's an "oh, you got a triple, sick!"
