Kratos, the God of War, is still haunted by nightmares of his past and is shunned by the other gods for his destructive ways. Ignoring Athena's warnings, Kratos joins the Spartan army in an attack on Rhodes, during which a giant eagle suddenly drains him of his powers and animates the Colossus of Rhodes. While battling the statue, Zeus offers Kratos the Blade of Olympus in order to defeat it, requiring Kratos to infuse the blade with the remainder of his godly power. Although now human, Kratos defeats the Colossus but is mortally wounded. The eagle reveals itself to be Zeus, who states he was forced to intervene as Athena refused to do so. Zeus then grants Kratos a final opportunity to be loyal to the gods, but Kratos refuses. Zeus kills him with the blade and destroys the Spartan army. And there begins Kratos' new quest for vengeance.....
God of War 2 is my personal favorite in the series. While I always have fond memories of God of War 1, I think gameplay wise and storywise, God of War 2 is the pinnacle for the series. We went from hunting down the God of War to hunting down the god of gods. There are plenty of twist and turns along the way. The scope and scale of the game is still breathtaking, especially with this HD upgrade that the PS2 classic got on the PS3.
As always we used relevant gameplay, important dialogue and all cutscenes to make a fluid cinematic experience. The game is natively in 720p so we upscaled it to 1080p but the game IS in 60 fps. We hope you enjoy!

I always liked how they made sense on how you lost the upgrades and your full bars at the beginning of each game.

Kosmic Kunt Kandy Not to mention Sparda's sword is way better than rebellion and sparda DT is OP as hell so why doesn't Dante use it? It's perplexing. And why doesn't X keep his armour parts except for the dash boots?
Kosmic Kunt Kandy Bruh, Sparda sword is badass! It can extend and do all sorts of crazy tricks in Gameplay, rebellion is just a vanilla sword it doesn't give Dante a power boost like Sparda sword.
Also, Sparda is arguably the strongest demon in DMC verse and his DT increases Dante's base DT into God tier. Nothing can touch Dante when he's in that form.
Kosmic Kunt Kandy Actually yes, i like Blade of Olympus more than the chain blades. Using any other weapon just feels like a downgrade. I was dissapointed that they made BOO a Spartan rage exclusive weapon.
I guess, i just prefer the ultimate weapon in video games, once you get it you should be able to use it forever as it's the ultimate.
I hope DMC5(if it's a thing) has a more serious Dante going all out, DMC1 is the only game where Dante faced a real challenge, in DMC2,3&4 he's just steamrolling everything.

Concerning Devil May Cry, there is nothing to explain. The game is consistent in what you're able to do with Dante. As such, the pros can exemplify Dante's true potential; the bar of health is just for cosmetic effects.
Also, DMC is not like God of War where Kratos goes from being a god to a mortal. So there's nothing to explain.
To put it simply, the health-bar doesn't represent Dante. The gameplay (massively) does.

For those curious about why Kratos didn’t go back and save his family, I imagine it is because he was too blinded by his anger and hate to see the full opportunities control over time allowed him, especially since he had Gaia manipulating him the whole time.
I don't see why he couldn't go back after he killed him though. Seems like a plot hole
@@rmbwemanplays5567 I think it was because the sisters of fate’s death lead to the destruction of the island. Kratos only had control over fate as long as the island was still intact and by the time he brought Gaia and the other Titans back it was completely destroyed.
Plus, he saves his family > and then what? … Kratos probably wouldn’t think that far when concerning his loved ones. But still, what’s he gonna do, get a job & settle down? Ha

Or at least be more neutral in his dealings with his own personal beef, after all, the loss of his family is a central motivator behind his pain and revenge, not to mention in (chains of Olympus??) he was willing to settle with Calliope until Persephone told of her plan to destroy everything
If Kratos went back to the time when he killed his family, he would still have to deal with Ares and the Furies while also protecting his family, and he might even have to fight Zeus and other gods later (such as to save Deimos). If he went back before he made the oath with Ares, that opens up a massive number of possibilities, and Kratos had no way of knowing for sure that they could be better.

Guess the blade deals extra magical damage to specific targets, not that it is very sharp or something.

Dude no kidding! Even though this is an old game that makes an attempt to have realistic graphics, Hell even the already pre-rendered footage still holds up, its an amazingly beautiful game. Even the explosions on the statue still look great

God of War 2 has to be one of the greatest games I’ve ever played in my life. Easily makes top 10. Especially the first time you play it, it really feels like an adventure from start to finish. Definitely a stroll down memory lane watching certain scenes. Best game of the franchise hands down in my opinion.

Well, from Kratos' perspective they are dead, but because he traveled in time they once again live. It also explains what they said about Kratos' fate - he would have died if he had remained in that particular timeline.
It’s because the sisters are fool they hold no power in essence they only control a time in which they are allowed to control cause if they were so powerful they would have stopped Kratos, but even they were fools that held no real power...meaning their fakes they don’t control anyone’s destiny not even theirs they’re just utter fakes

Kratos seems to suffer from tunnel vision, at least in the Greek saga. Blinded by rage he only saw what was required for his vengeance.

Every time I replay God Of War 2018, I come back and watch the cutscenes from GOW 1,2 and 3 to remind myself of the savage Kratos used to be and everything he went through. It's funny to see a little kid talk back a guy that's been killed by Zues, who's killed COUNTLESS Gods, and even climbed out of the underworld.
Hades tearing that Titan's soul out and absorbing it was one of the most badass things I ever saw as a kid

Atlas is like, one of the best god of war characters. There is something so weirdly pleasant about the interaction between them, and the laughs Atlas gets in when talking to the Ghost of Sparta. He talks like such a cool dude as well.

Well, in one of the games (Ghost of Sparta, I believe) he did end up killing Thanatos, the greek personification of Death. In theory, what with the whole "if you kill a god, you get to take their place" thing the game has going on, that means he became the dual god of Death and War.

What I love about GoW cutscenes over DMC cutscenes is that there aren't any overanimated scenes to make the characters look cool. Kratos doesn't need to flip and get style points, he just needs to beat the fuck out of things.

I think the developers want the viewers to listen to the dialogue between Kratos and Cronos through perspective. I can feel Atlas’ vocals echo out throughout the underworld. I hear Kratos clearly because the audience needs to hear for back in forth purposes. Think ordering at a drive thru.
Too add I believe the pitch in Kratos voice may be lowered due the sheer size of Atlas. It shows the clear scald of this game and it’s trilogy respectively.
It can also been seen and heard when Kratos meets Cronos in GOW 3.
This may be all over the place but this is how I feel at the moment.
Any thoughts? It’s all conservation really.

He was quoting his father to Baldur not Atreus... He said this right before he snapped (Mortal) Baldur's neck

The first time seeing the ending to this game when came out I remember asking my roommate "How the fuck are they actually going to pull that off in the next game?" It took time, but I'm still floored that they actually delivered on it. I think the creativity for this story is stunning. I wish modern games had the same spark, than again I'm getting old and maybe just missing the point.

15:40 to 16:13 is the single best scene I've ever seen in God of war. The music kicks in as he fucking roars. Immediately grabs the swords and goes gow mode again. Amazing

This moment sealed Zeus' fate, he took everything from Kratos and tricked him into killing the last of his kind. Props to that last Spartan, he didn't have all of Kratos' powers & weapons but still made it that far.

One of my favorite endings. what a way to set up the third game
in the end, only Atlas is suriving the madness of Kratos in this GOW series.
2021 and this game still looks amazing.
Fun fact: If you use the god of war armor costume and activate the Urn of Posiden, Kratos will say his three lines from the prologue when you use Posiden's Rage; "I am the god of war!" "None shall defy me!" "I will make you suffer!"
