For those who are really sauer for the outcome, comon' guys, USSR team really nailed it, they deserved the gold medals. They were leading during the whole game. For 3), you can't call a timeout in between freethrows, and ESPECIALLY AFTER the ref gave the ball to the freethrow shooter. So no, no timeouts should have been compensated. For 4), USSR couldn't call a timeout at that time I believe, no timeouts and can't disrupt the play midway. And for 5), it was Jones, NOT the ref, who told the scorer table to give 3 secs to the ball game. He DID NOT have any authorities for the ongoing ball game, only the officials officiating. So no, the 3 secs shouldn't have been granted. EVERYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THAT. A tech should have been assessed as well. So no, everything was wrong. What nationality did the referees have? Did they speak Russian? If not, I don't see the problem.
There was a violation on the inbound play. The Russian who made the inbound stepped on the line as he threw a pass to Alexander Bela. The referees failed to see it, failed to call the violation, and the rest is history.
We should have never allowed it to be that close. But respect to both teams who played their hearts out.

What a useless video! What made this win so controversial is that three times the clock was turned back three seconds. The US won the first two times it was turned back. When the Soviets rinally scored, the game was deemed over. It was horrifying to watch.
