I get that Smash is also like that but the ways to getting the characters there is more easier to do than Mario Kart Wii’s methods
The easiest track in this cup is N64 Bowser's Castle, so easy due to the fact that CPU's always mess up with those Rock Ruins, and it gives the player aj advantage if he/she was skilled enough 😉
there are penalties and bonuses throughout the race that affect your final score. your final score is the time you got on the race plus all the penalties and bonuses. penalties include: falling off the track (+10 seconds), touching off road (+time spent on off road x4), hitting non moving obstacles (+5 seconds), hitting moving obstacles (+3 seconds) and spending time in lower ranks (time spent in 9th x4 + time spent in 10th x6 + time spent in 11th x8 + time spent in 12th x10). however, there are two bonuses that greatly reduce the effect of the penalties. these include: hitting an opponent with a non-strategic item (red shells, blue shells, stars, bullets, etc.) (-1 second) and hitting opponents with strategic items (bananas, green shells, fake item boxes) (-2 seconds). you also have to get first in every race. it doesn’t matter how long you spend in first or how many times you get hit by items, you just have to win.
