Yea thats a good point, I honestly didn't think about that because I got the log splitter in pieces. It originally had a mesh kind of filter in the pick up that was pretty rusted away, so I just put the new one on that side of the pump.

The engine I believe is an old 5hp pressure washer engine and yes I think they were both 3/4 in pipe thread.
Very slow for a 13 GPM pump. Looks more like 10 GPM Speed. Filter on inlet side may be starving the pump.
