That intro made me think of a fun Swedish word similarity. Going on a walk or a stroll is called taking a "promenad". So you can take a promenad on your promenade.

"Promenade" is french for going on a walk, so I guess swedish and english both borrowed the word, but for different meanings
There's a promenade (place) in New York City's Central Park, which is not bordering any water at all, and it was built to allow the rich and fancy to promenade (action) in front of everyone else. lol
Well, funnily enough 'promenade' can also be used not just as a noun but also as a verb in English - for a leisurely public stroll - so you can indeed 'promenade down the promenade' in multiple languages!
There's a square dance/contra dance move called promenade as well. Unsurprisingly, it involves walking while holding hands. :)

You should make a short little worn path from the permit office parking lot across the strip of grass to the mud path in front of shop +. It kind of mimics what everyone is actually doing when they come over - park their horse and then cross over the grass and bushes
19:50 Joel has impressed me, I was already impressed by banners with latin letters, but to see Japanese kana on banners is even more so. ヒカリ・イカ - Hikari Ika: Light Squid or Shining Squid depending who you ask. Very neat.
One of the hermits said it translated to firefly squid, the closest real-life counterpart to the glow squid.
Yeah, his viewers who understand how Japanese works are helping him get them as accurate as possible.
What I really like about this idea that no one else seems to realize is, knowing how much of a completionist Doc is, the diamond sales trophy system has the hilariously unintended consequence of hard countering his Sand acquisition scheme! He'll have to sell for diamonds now if he wants them, or knowing him just make his own trophies...
He could offer to sell for diamonds... but make it REALLY expensive relative to the amount of sand they'd have to dig.
Oh I forgot about the Sand, hahaha

The counting system is such a good idea. A hermit puts in their “id card” then the diamonds to put into the account. Then the old diamond texture you made hits their account for counting and they get the diamond back to keep them in circulation. There’s so much potential

loving all the hermits just hanging out together so much this season ^-^ its so fun and has definitely been largely my favourite thing so far this season ^-^
ooooh maybe you could add a diamond counter to the shopping district where people can throw their diamonds in, it counts how many there are then spits out a result and gives the diamonds back. like those money counting machines they use in banks. it'll just remove the human error from doing the counting manually

i feel like the profits from the trophie shop should go back to the community in some way, since the trophies dont cost anything to create. maybe use the profits to buy materials for building roads or other stuff in common areas. great video!

I personally feel like since season 7 there was a little bit of shopping fatigue on Hermitcraft and I think the trophies are a good way to keep the Hermits motivated, not just for a short while, but for the long run to continue making diamonds. Along with the permit system it was the perfect time to implement the trophies. I can’t wait to see if anyone gets the 10k one 😊

Is there a backstory for this at all and does it mean something specific? I'm assuming it's just a name he likes to use as a friend, but wasn't sure.

I've switched up my mining game recently to underwater mining, and was surprised at how many diamond ore in regular stone I'm finding.
Load up a shulker or two of night vision pots, grab 1/2 stack of Magma blocks, and then I fly over oceans looking for those Caves and Cliff shaped openings. Some turn into these massive areas far down into deepslate that make for a long mining session.

Loving the little updates on the progress you've made on the Ziggurat. That promenade is very nice. I'm excited to see how you light it up; either in an old fashion way like campfires on Hoppers for plinths, or magically with a potential new guardian producing floating lights. The "Sales Pitch" pun when introducing Keralis to the idea of the Sales shop was beautiful.
instead of complicated redstone maybe it's an idea to add a /trigger command for hermits to up their diamond counter.
That way it could also be shown in the scoreboard
The Copper shop is really taking off and excited to see if anyone does get that 10,000 trophy
X, I have to say I absolutely love your music for the intro. Not too many other people can have their OWN music that they created as their intro song. Very reminiscent of '80s power ballads.
I love seeing builds where someone's had a neat idea and someone else is inspired by that idea and uses it in their build (referring to the window displays, very simple yet effective)
There should be a redstone counter as part of the shopping district's town square that displays which hermit is in the lead each week and every hermit comes together to celebrate to help incentivise friendly competition between them.
You then add information about the trophies so any passing hermits can come and buy their trophies to display their victories.
This will tidy up any future incoming diamond block wars.

Adding a counting system for diamonds might be cool (like automatic bill counters in banks and such), but how would that be implemented? Tallying earnings yourself, and not running the same diamonds through the counter, both rely on the honor system. So there's not much difference there. But it could be a cool gimmick to draw people to the sales office.
Maybe do something like Tango did for Decked Out, combining the crown counter and artifake dispenser?

French guy here, I think promenade comes from the French and while it most often means a walk it can also refer to a path for walking (most famous one being "La promenade des Anglais" in Nice.
There is another expression for a pathway going alongside a river which is "un chemin de halage" that we kept even though it was referring to the pathway alongside the river used for pulling along boats. (I don't think you should change it however)
The English word for 'chemin de halage' is 'towpath', but I've always been under the impression that they're to be found alongside canals more often than rivers.

I may be biased I've grown up near the river Mayenne which has an old towpath spanning 130 km from the city of Mayenne to Angers. So in my mind any walkways following the river are "chemins de halage" even if they weren't used as such back then
I could find mentions of towpaths for other rivers such as Marne, Meuse, Moselle, Sarthe, Vilaine.
And lots of canals which makes me wonder, maybe you absolutely needed a towpath for canals, but many rivers you could do without ?

How is it that nobody added white and black blocks to Iskall´s cylinder top vent to make it look like the eye of a Cyclops (or a tall green minion, LOL)? Once I saw it in my mind, I could not unsee it, and it is driving me crazy. Could you please do it for me?

Thinking about it, you probably could do a tialable binary counter with each hermits player heads at them to keep track of the diamonds.
You could have a hopper with a comparator and an observer facing it to detect the diamonds, and a dropper to return them to the hermit so they stay in circulation too.
Hope this helps if you decide to do it.

ooh, idea for the 2nd channel: heavy metal rendition of the Promenade from Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition... (I played normal symphony version - well the Tuba part of it anyway - in high school. Really fun and majestic piece of music, althoughthe later movements of Baba Yaga and Great Gates of Kiev were what REALLY made it fun.)

Story line idea… two people compete on selling some sort of artistic service (rivers, palm trees, whatever) and then have to try to get an official permit to lock the other out - eventually resulting in some minigame competition
