I always enjoy watching your attention to detail you put into your projects. You inspire this old guy to continue to work towards improving my craft. Thank you
Everette Burk thank you so much, I really appreciate it. It's such an honor sir. Even if I can inspire 1 person all these videos is worth it. Thank you again.
Attention to details, respect of the very nature of your selected wood species, purity of design, all of these qualities make the difference between nice product and an outstanding one. Bravo. Levis Canada
I cannot imagine anyone giving this video a thumbs down, awesome work, thank you for sharing. As I struggle to overcome my many mistakes and failures, one can certainly learn from this video.
i know im asking the wrong place but does someone know a method to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost my account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
@Braydon Rex I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Nice desk set. Two points: 1. When sanding oily woods, like lignum vitae, bocote, ebony, etc, try using a sanding disc cleaner on your belts and discs, and they will last a lot longer. 2. For more aggressive cutting with your skew. try moving your tool rest closer to your work so you can tip the skew more vertical and it will cut those hard woods better. Nice finish work, BTW.
I love your attention to detail, I wish I was as focused! I tend to spend 1/4 the amount of time planning as I should and then am shocked when it doesn't work out! You'd think I would learn, but I don't.... Anyway, keep up the great videos!
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Watched you for the first time. will be watching your other videos with interest m8. The way you clamp wedges is clever enough, it just depends on the angles I guess. Well done on the project including a very nice pen!!
What an exquisite looking desk ensemble! I would love to adopt some of your ideas however I am having trouble following your directions due to my hearing disability, (stone deaf). I realize this is my problem however would you mind adding CC to your videos. I would sincerely appreciate it. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and techniques!!
John hi John, thank you! I pretty sure the CC is turned on, I will double check too make sure that it is on. Sorry if it’s not , but I know at one point I did turn the CC on. Thanks for letting me know and thanks for watching. Cheers!
Hope everyone enjoys my latest video on creating pen accessories. I created this video based on several requests I have received from subscribers. I you are wondering how much I would sell this for, it all depends on the materials, labor, and design. I have not yet set a price for this piece. Also, all of the desk components in this video were purchased from Pen State Industries (PSI). Thank you.
Nancy Link hi Nancy, absolutely. I buy my writing instrument set hardware from two places: www.woodturnerscatalog.com/search?term=Desk www.pennstateind.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=SEARCH&q=Desk Shop that helps and thanks for watching.
Hello, I made a hard maple wooden dowel that is glued to the clock base. The dowel sticking out tightly fits into a hole on the stand, which allows the clock to come apart for shipping and swivel for left or right handed people. Thanks for watching.
Excuse my language, but holy shit! I enjoyed watching this video very much. To be honest, I wasn't sure what you were making til nearly the end. I know it says pen in the title, but I'm like there's no way haha. Beautiful work and great camera angles. Cannot wait to see what other pieces you'll be making.
A Gad thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate it my friend. I should have another video out in a couple of weeks. I'd love to put a vid out weekly but life always manages to pull me else where. Take care and thanks for watching.
Marrakka Q thank you. I looked before for a mechanical clock an inch in diameter and couldn’t find any. I looked before for steam punk style desk sets. I’ve also been told that quartz clock are more accurate, but I’m not totally sold on that. Lol thanks for watching.
Well done! I can see right off that you are holding yer tongue wrong when gluing wedges. You should tuck it slightly inside the lower lip (giving the appearance much like that of smokeless tobacco) before gently biting down on the tip. And of course the side matters as well, right-handers poke the left side while left-handers poke the right... Still, this did not prevent you from creating a piece that would proudly display on any desk, thanx for the video.
Wayne Rush hi Wayne, thank you so much for the info and tip. Any info on gluing wedges is strongly welcome. I always have issues gluing wedges together. Thank you so much watching and for your kind words. Take care my friend
I have some scraps of various angles that I hot glue to the work pieces to form as close to 90 degrees as I can and clamp. A 90 degree jig also helps and cuts down on the # of scraps. Hope this helps...sometimes my brain doesn't work (left and right fight a lot) so why I didn't answer yer question earlier- It just suddenly came to me! Luck and health.

very beautiful pen and clock stand, first time I have watched your work will be back to see the next one.
William Donnelly thank you kindly sir, I appreciate it. So glad you'll be back too. Thanks for watching. Take care
Oh wow. I love that idea of using the pen kit bags to protect your finger underneath the paper towel applying the CA glue finish to the pen!
Kyle Quevillon thank you. I save all the bags for use. They are safer than rubber gloves around the lathe too. Thanks for watching.

Cool video.

Push an old rubber sneaker sole into your running belt sander. It'll clean up the abrasive and extend the life of your belts and discs!
Nice tip, thanks for sharing!
Can you tell me where you purchased the brass pen holder shown in this video?
Nancy Link hi Nancy, absolutely. I buy my writing instrument set hardware from two places:

How did you fasten the clock in the stand?

Where did you get the pen holders?
Wayne Reinke I get them from either PSI (Pen State Industries) or Craft-supply. Both in USA. Thanks for watching.

Why does there always have to be irritating noise in the background. I personally would prefer silence during video when video maker is not talking
Not entertaining at all. Besides, shop noise is going on all the time, and it’s free to you. You could always use the volume button.
