I am an American just throwing in my own 2 cents. I own a '16 Trailhawk and absolutely love it. My Trailhawk currently has 60K miles on it and has had only one recall with no troubles. People complain about the 3.2L V6 without looking at what this engine and transmission are asked to do. No one seems to realize that there is snow and ice in many places and that snow mode starts you in 2nd gear and is trying to maintain traction. High torque at low rpms makes that difficult. On the opposite side of the coin we have mud/sand mode where the vehicle keeps the rpm's high and the gears a bit low to prevent getting bogged down. The same is done with sport mode to make the vehicle more responsive and keep the engine in its power band. Let's talk rock mode for a moment...low range is >50:1 crawl ration with a locking rear differential and uses an aggressive programming to keep is slow and steady and make the front act as a lsd. The more I drive this vehicle, the more impressed I am. Armor: check, low range: check, locker: check, AWD on road operation: check, good on road manners: check. I hear a lot of Jeep haters out there complaining that nobody else is doing this...why doesn't anyone else build something to compete with a Wrangler either? Jeep may not be your first choice but they do make some remarkably capable vehicles.
Couldn’t have said it better myself, I’ve got a 2020 and it has never let me down with 25000 miles on it. It can literally do everything it’s the perfect suv
Thanks for the details. I've been contemplating on buying this car and I'm so glad your description here is FAR better than any of these pansy ass reviewing videos comparing to their high performance Euros that have no knowledge about offroading. I see so many TV ads when they take Soccer mom compact SUV's like CRV's, Hyundai, RAV4 and alike thru some crazy terrain where in the real world they would fall apart. Eventhough there are so many MOPAR haters out there I seriously think the new 5th Gen Cherokee is a far better choice for this segment.
I took it off roading today. It did too well. Like it felt like the car did all of the work, it was great but felt like it kinda took the fun out of four wheeling. This thing is super capable!
I went from a vw Tiguan to a 19 cherokee trailhead and love it. Its about the same size vehicle but with wayy more power. And it runs on reg fuel unlike my vw did. Fuel economy really isn't that bad and is 100 percent with the trade for traction and power
Wish all the manufacturers did an offroad focused variant of their road based SUVs mainly with above 200 mm ground clearance, better approach, rampover and departure angles , a low range gear and a proper centre diff. This jeep is a great example of that, just wish they made more reliable cars.
I have a Trailhawk, pentastar motor is super reliable, I get 10.5 ltr per 100 with stop start. It's a reliable car I pile the k's on it. The jeeps of old are gone they have solid warranty and are reliable now.
Have a 2020 trailhawk elite 4x4 turbo I ve had a Chevy truck, Range Rover, land cruiser, corvette, modified vw porsche clutch etc., this car beats them all 😀🙌🏼👍🏼📌
I keep hearing the old "reliability argument" regarding Jeeps, yet know loads of people who have them who have not experienced any issue beyond what you can expect from any vehicle, some have 2-300k on their 90's Grand Cherokees, still running, we had a late 90's Cherokee that went over 200k without a problem, my CJ5 still runs like a top and everyone I know with a later model Cherokee, Grand Cherokee or Wranglers raves about them.
I work for a multi brand car dealership and a friend of mine delivers parts to a very high end brand group of dealerships. I see a lot and I can tell you that all brands have reliability issues. They don't make them like they used to. Computer based cars are so different than the mechanical ones of the past.
A huge tiller** not sure if that's spelled correctly but sounded hilarious when talking about the steering wheel. That thing is gigantic It was a little smaller and gas mileage in it is really not great having it for 25,000 mi now Aberdeen about 14 15 combined about 18 and in the highway maybe maybe maybe maybe mid-20s. When the wind is behind us about 30 miles an hour 😂😂😂😂 That's really the only downfall those gas mileage everything else it's really solid
Grand Cherokee is really dated now so this would be my 4wd of choice - yes there’s reliability issues and it’s the same with Land Rover and others in this class but I think it’s style and ability is a cut above the SUV dross also available in this segment and a well warranted example would make a fine family car that can cope off-road
It's a shame but Fiat Chrysler reputation for poor warranty support and the fact the ACCC are next to useless at enforcing consumer laws would stop me considering a Jeep. It's a shame successive governments have underfunded or hobbled the ACCC.
If only the Germans (thinking vw) or Japanese (ie Toyota) would make a small/medium off-road capable SUV to compete with this or the Land Rover discovery sport. I reckon they’d sell like hot cakes. Reliable city family hauler that was reliable and could Work as an adventure/lifestyle vehicle on the weekend - would sell like hot cakes
Why the fuck does it use 16l/100km when a 2500 Cummins gets like 14 city. That also weighs at least 2000 pounds more! And can do better off reading and towing
I doubt Jeep will last much longer in Australia. They burnt too many bridges with unreliable cars and absolutely atrocious customer support. Not to mention the massively overpriced coffin-on-wheels Wrangler.
@@sjwright2 Thanks you for approaching the issue of Consumerism and The ACCC. I agree that the ACCC's enforcement of existing Consumer Law in a 'no nonsense way', would see the car industry in Australia undertake a 'self sorting' mechanism of almost Darwinian proportions. [ps my family has been members of ACA since '52 but cars have always too costly to test & Australian Auto Clubs go limp the moment this area is mentioned.]
@@stevens15007 nah - never owned a Toyota, actually rented a Jeep Wrangler on my honeymoon for 2 weeks and loved it, but theres always a better option than a Jeep regardless of the body type, reliably was dirt and then Fiat took over lol

Can Tow 4600 Lbs ( V6)
Ps. Only get the V6

the exact one I have. Living in So Cal at 6800' elevation. Just drives right thru snow and a pleasure to drive.

I absolutely love the LOOK of this vehicle ..stunning and different to everything else out there
I'm test driving one tomorrow..... This may be my next vehicle, it ticks all the boxes for me, despite being thirsty.
Have fun using extravagant amounts of fuel for seemingly no benefit

Good review
Nice review, can you also do a RAV4 edge review, I know you quite like the hybrid version, but CVT are holding me back.
I like when you slowly touch the interior. 😉
Have you got a merchandise site??? I want that logo on a cap 🧢 to wear
Keep really needs to sort out the reliability issue, can’t only rely on the style and fan fair.

It seems there are lots of first time Jeep buyers but not many second time buyers. Apparently they cost an absolute bomb to fix.....
like a smaller grand cherokee. the grand cherokee trailhawk's great in the outback
Why didn’t Jeep ditch the V6 for the 2.0L turbo?
Probably Australia’s (old) reputation for preferring big displacement.

Are they reliable as japanese cars like Toyota land cruiser
No. Wish Toyota made a proper off roader this size!
I guess I'll be waiting for the next "Don't buy a jeep" music video on youtube.
Also made by Americans currently taking part in looting and vandalising the shops under the guise of protesting.
Why are your stock tires so bad ?
Love,

Forester or Trailhawk?
For bona fide off roaring capability, Cherokee. For everything else... probably RAV4 Hybrid

Rented one for 3 days and the transmission grenaded 🤣
Well it's a rental. Morons could be neutral dropping it all day for all we know lol
doesnt this car scream "give me a torquey diesel!!!"
Yes, it so does!
I’ve always found these cars so ugly and plasticky and too expensive for what it is.
