Nice!! What a great video. Both sound really fantastic, you really can't go wrong with Eastman, and tose P90 just sing! Hard to choose between both. I'm sure live there are some little details that you can notice even more as well, but overall you have 2 amazing guitars for sure, each with its own thing. Eastman's are just so good. Awesome video, very well put together!
Thank you, I enjoyed that a lot. A refreshing, frank comparison and you always manage to get across your enthusiasm for playing and owning your guitars. Great choice of music as well, that shows us old guys that things are in good hands. See you next time. 😊
I own 6 Eastman guitars (including the SB56/n and the T64/v) and the 7th is on its way to me... No doubt, if I could only keep one, it would be the T64/v. I am playing since 1976 and always had a thing for hollow or semi-hollow guitars and owned quite a few, at least 20, including Gibson, Guild, Gretsch, Collings, and D'Angelico. The moment I played the T64/v I could not believe it, it is perfect.
Great review and I can understand why you'd want to own both - quite different personalities! If it were me choosing one over the other I wold go with the '64, love the 'acoustic fullness' it has on offer. That said, I was impressed with the '56 neck + univibe, def had that 'stratospheric vibe thing'. I have a modded MIC Casino with '50s wiring / Bone Nut & Lollars which is quite special, altho that '64 is calling my name! I also have a 2009 Les Paul Special and the Gibson P90s perform pretty well, also a Rivolta Combinata with P90s that is passable, altho I'd be happy to sell it if I could find a buyer . . . they've discontinued that model so maybe it will become attractive to someone at some point! Thanks for the show and tell, cheers! I'm a bit of a fan of Eastman's Juliet series - played the off-white one with Bare Knuckles PAFs and love it - I wonder what how the P90 one performs, I imagine quite edgy if the off-white one is anything to go by - the slimmer body, ebony neck and BN's make for a pretty bright, edgy combination! Def envious of your Eastmans - wonderful collection, there . . .
I think your right, would definitely have alot of bite. Steve is coming over at some point as hes just got a SG special so thats asking for a shoot out to the eastman goldtop haha.
I hankered after a gold-top for years , and on Paul's sage advice decided to go with the SB56 , its definitely one of my 'go-to' guitars , I love how you can really shape the p90's with the tone and volume . I think the T64v very much sounds 'airier' with that hollow body being ever present, the tones of the SB56 seems 'grittier' in comparison . I think it's more a 'early in the morning \ late in the evening comparison ' ... 'tea or coffee' ... neither being better or worse just different needs and vibes .That being said I think you may have just inspired the next entry on the GAS list .. cheers Paul !
I think they both sounded great , but offcourse the hollow body versus solid body makes a difference soundwise , i always had this thing that i wanted an lp and an ES 330 / 335 , there different beast . This week i gave in to my GAS and bought a sire H7V , so now i have the full spectrum again in that gibson era : a lp with humbuckers and an ES 335 with P 90's .
I was accumulating thoughts as you played, then you ticked them all off in your own summary 😂 Hollow was rounder and fuller and would've been my choice, but chuck the gain on and it's so close I wouldn't really care which one. Visually, either. Glad I'm not hearing things 😂
They both sound so good, probably the T64 just pipped it, but I would still prefer the SB56 for the comfort and stability, we are spoilt for choice, the SB is a nice weight aswell.
I think the 56 Is the only guitar I have where ive never had to adjust the truss rod haha ( I live in a 80 odd year old house that changes wildly in temp/humidity)
Great video Paul. Really enjoyed the comparison. T64v all the way!

Thanks dude, im happy to have them for sure.
Amazing how different they sounded. I loved the 64 . That’s my favourite
In person its more noticeable too for sure. The 64 would be my first choice if i could only have 1 of them definitely

Appreciate it thankyou.

Nice one! My next one im hoping is either the E10SS or ive noticed the E6SS is now in sunburst. Gotta get saving again haha
I need that T64. They are so rad. I want the one with the Bigsby so I can be cool like Barrie Cadogan and his three-three-oh
Cant argue there, love Barrie Cadogan
T64 just sounded so much better IMO. Eastman make great guitars 👍

Superb playing. To me, the 64 sounds more ‘alive’.
Its also somehow has an ‘older’ sound to it which i love and find really unique outside of unobtainable actual old guitars haha
Nice video Paul, both killer guitars. I really liked the T64 in that comparison sounded sweet. How was it having the Light speed back?
Thanks dude. Im enjoying it. Im actually playing through it as i type this reply right now lol
@@Paul-D 😀
The 64/v sounded fuller, more harmonics. Great review!
Glad it came across - it is much more full, really noticeable in person
Great playing! I went into it thinking that I would prefer the T64 but I actually prefer the tones if I could only have one, of the 56.
The 56 would be the easier guitar to mix in a band setting. But playing alone the 64 has a fullness that really addicting haha
I hankered after a gold-top for years , and on Paul's sage advice decided to go with the SB56

They are something special- glad you got one in the collection too 😁

Those sires are decent i tried one against my eastman a while back 🤘🤘
@@Paul-D yeah , allas the eastmans are above my bugdet pricewise but the sire is o.k.
The Goldtop is lovely, might have to try some P90 guitars.
Its waiting for you to have ago 😜

The Hollowbody sounded more musical, a fuller sound
It is alot fuller. Glad it came across 🤘🤘
Golly. You’ve actually managed to pique my interest in their version of a goldtop too.
Just seen at guitar summit they have done a black T64 with a bigsby! Dream or what!
