I've watched like 15 videos of the ATR indicator, this was the one that actually made me understand how it works. Thanks. I'm interested in becoming a day trader, and one thing that always gets me is how the hell I'm going to be able to trade any stock in the 1 minute and 5 minute chart when such rapid movements take place. I have to pay attention to the indicators, candle patterns, set my stop loss and profit target...all in a matter of minutes or I might miss the move. I'm guessing It'll come with practice, right?

I am used to use ATR for setting stop loss always but now I got how to use it for breakout and for reversal with combination of RSI. Thanks a lot.

Yes! After watching for 5 times or more, I was able to understand how ATR works and helps in setting the correct stop loss and target. And I love that "momenum"! It's a big help! Also, the oversold market and the momenum that follows it, I believe I also understand how it works.
I'm just curious. I can't use the ruler in my trading view platform. I'm using a demo account in my cellphone. I haven't connected trading view yet to Aonda. I'm still waiting approval. Does it matter? Will the ruler work once I have a real trading account?

So in general, you are using the rsi 14 combined with support/resitance for finding possible entrys and defining targets and you use the atr for your stoploss?
I prefer SMA of last 14 candle size, so I see ATR period to 1 and add an SMA to the ATR, and then add other longer SMA(70) of the ATR. I use whichever the lowest between short and longer SMA.
Hey Steve, do you still use the ATR number for SL even after a candle stick that's equal or more than the ATR.

I know you said to cancel out the final number in the decimal. BUT if it was higher than 5 could you use it to round up e.g 0.00456. . . .would you round it up so its 0.0047 or keep it to 45 ?

question: I want to know how would you read the ATR on a DAILY chart. For example: I am looking at the EURAUD on the daily time frame and the value is: 0.01494. Can I assume that the ATR for the daily chart is 149.00 pips? Thanks!
A question to the community: the last high or low swing usually is present in several different time frames. Which time frame do I use for the ATR value since they differ a lot and why ? Thank you !
After doing a bit of research a PIP is used pretty much exclusively for currency exchanges.
For regular stocks you don't consider ATR in terms of "pips" it is just a dollar amount of how much the stock is trading per day.

But bro I got a doubt🤔 in ur old video u said if the candle atr is bw 1-2 atr then it's false breakout. But here u r saying it as momentum candle🤯 sm1 clear👍
I had the same doubt and I just realized this only works for bullish trades. only if a break below candle is between 1 and 2 ATR, it signifies a false breakout and you can go long. But the same isn't true for a break above candle. If the break above candle is between 1 and 2 ATR, it shows momentum to the upside and you still go long.
