@@troyerthedestroyer I definitely like it so far. The only thing that I have to get used too is that in engaged position the hitch touches the friction block, so you have to adjust your grib on the knot when you want to break it loose. Not a major issue, but still makes me prefer the catalyst + short tether and rope wrench. I am surprised on how little friction there is when walking on the rope or pulling slack out. So that’s nice. I also clip my chest harness into the hitch climber pulley (as I do with the rope wrench). Clipping into the soft tether of the Freexion is horrible… So I like it, and will keep using it for a while :)
@@Talesofafreelanceclimber Interesting that it touches your knot, the pictures look like there is loads of space but I was wondering how the soft tether would play out. That might annoy me too since I always break my hitch above the knot. I run a very short eye to eye with a knut so I am interested in how it performs. My current fav is the caralink tether and apex wrench. Thanks for your thoughts. Keep putting out epic climbing videos.
@ hehe thanks, my favourite is the caralink and apex too :) and I use the catalyst with that. But I can’t use this in climbing competition here, that’s the main reason I want the Freexion to be a success
For the first time in a while we had dry weather here, and I have to say it is much better in dry conditions! The hitch touching the Freexion doesn’t bother at all. When it’s wet, the hitch has more friction and is a bit annoying to break when it touches the Freexion.
So; going up on acces SRT, tied of with base anchor. Install cambiumsaver, knotblock the working SRT line, and clip the end above the knotblock into a butterfly of the acces SRT line. Then go do your working with needed redirects (preferably retrievable, beasthorn kind) At the end of the work, retrieve the acces line, and while doing so, the redirects should undo themselves, and the working line is coming along down with the acces line? Am I missing something? Neat system though! Might try it in the future :)
@@Meloen5 that’s a good rundown of what’s happening :) I often work bigger trees with another climber, and we clip both our working lines onto the access line for retrieval. A nice advantage is that if the cambium saver has other plans than coming down, there still is the access line to go get it. And this also makes it possible to lower the cambium saver in a controlled manner, but I didn’t do this in this video. That’s a few steps extra when retrieving the lines
Is your access line the same rope as your lanyard? I can't tell if you are using two separate lines and they are just the same construction/brand. Same with your captains hook rope. Is your hook a separate rig or on the tail of a really long lanyard?
Yes, my lanyard is the same rope as my access line. That might be a it confusing I guess.. I use a long lanyard (about 7 or 8 meters), and have the end set up with a rope grab to function as dual lanyard or in this case to use with the Captain Hook.
👌
How are you liking the Freexion? I just ordered one and can't wait to try it.

@@Talesofafreelanceclimber Awesome and makes sense. I'll mess around with this setup. Thanks for sharing.
