In this clip, Freeway reflects back on the tension between Cam'ron and Jay-Z, and how some of it may have stemmed from the making of "One For Peddi Crakk." Moving along, Freeway reminisces about how excited he was upon learning that Dipset had signed to Rock-A-Fella Records, stating that he alway had a lot of admiration for the members.
Cam’Ron is so underrated. He did a-lot for New York City as far as putting other artists on. We got people who been in the game 20 years and never put nobody on.

Cam'ron was more like under rated!! Jay knew Cam was nice. The problem was Jay Z always wanting to be the man and not making room for people unless they came from him. Dame made that dipset movement happen! Jay could've parted ways without dismantling Rocafella behind Dames back by cutting a deal for himself with Lyor!!! Jay is a low key hater that plays dirty.

People forget nobody on Roc-a-fella ever went Platinum except for Cam, Jay & Kanye. Cam was platinum b4 Kanye blew up. So him and Jay were the highest selling artists on the label at one point. So Jay looked at him as competition. Plus he was aligned with everybody Jay don’t mess with like Un, Dame, Mase etc.
I dont think jayz looked at cam as competition lol.. i think the energy came from how dame was giving his homies from harlem more opportunities within rocafella than the artist that was already there then dame made cam president. They wasnt feeling that

History has shown you this. He’s never signed an artist from NY other than Bleek who grew up in his building. He literally signed more philly artist & southern artist than NY artists. He’s had issues with most NYC artist. He became Def Jam president and eliminated the competition. He was on the set of all the Cam videos but couldn’t even be in the videos. Even Oschino said he was mad selfish with the spotlight.

Jay had a problem with Cam because Cam wasn't like the rest of Rocafella artists. They were cool with Jay being the superstar and everyone else staying in his shadow. Cam didn't want that and I truly believe that intimidated Jay. Which caused tension.

Other than Jay so he was def competition. And right after Jay got bodied by Nas. Cam blew up with “Oh Boy & Hey Ma” so he was hotter for a brief minute.

A part of it was probably due to how Cam felt about the Un situation. Dipset came over there with an attitude and Jay seemed to always make sure to remind them that it wasn't just Bigg and Dame who ran the label but he was also a boss not just the rapper. Also Dame was wanting to make Cam the prez of the label without Jay consent.
