do you have ideas to make this thing weight less? remove the rack?

Removing the rack will take 2 lbs off if that. I actually was thinking of changing the wheelset without the IGH. Coupled with those replacments, you should be in the 27lb range. After awhile, i have just gotten use to the weight. Also weight on Tern site is without fenders and rack.

You have to convert to litepro parts and carbon parts if you want to really shave weight off this bike or any bike. My friend got his TERN VERGE S8i down to 24.8lbs. By changing the
      Wheelset
      TIRES/TUBES
      Crankset
      Seat post
      Saddle
      Pedals
      Brakes.
Stripping off the fenders and rear rack.
Basically he turned it into a TERN VERGE P10. But with 8 speeds. Just changing the wheel set to litepro k fun 406s. The tyres to Schwalbe durano 1.1 racegaurds. And nutrak inner tubes took 2.7lbs of weight off the bike. It's crazy. And putting a litepro carbon seatpost and ergon GM pro saddle on it 1.6 lbs less aswell.
All those upgrades will shave weight. Doing so his top speed went up by over 5mph. And average speed by over 3mph. So it was well worth it to him. And climbing hills is much easier.

I think it does similarly to a 21spd mountain bike. Unfortunately i no longer have the bike to give more insight.

@@danielsonhobbies oh what happen? i just saw that model a while ago. sadly my link d8 rim got broken and i cant use it unless i change to a new rim which is high budget for me nowadays. so i went to a tern seller this afternoon to check if they have 2nd hand rim then i saw that bike i said that it is my dream bike. i thought its a new model but i also saw some old reviews the oldest is 7 yrs ago. my link D8 is designed for city use but since i have no other bike i use it as touring bike for long ride and it performed well for me ( well because it is also my 1st bike ) hahaha that is why im hoping maybe someday if i won the lottery i can buy that bike that is why im trying to learn if it works well in uphill. ( its like i will win ) haha by the way thanks for the info somehow it gave me a glimpse of idea.

It's a nice bike. I had some issues with hinge and headset that couldn't get resolved. Also, the folded footprint of the bike was quite big. Eventually, I went with a Brompton instead. There are a lot of options out there. At the end of the day, i would go with what's easiest to get replacement parts for and the overall satisfaction of buyers. Glad to help🤙

If you want a fast light and beautiful machine. Throw down and get the X11. Its the Ferrrari of folding bikes. Can give a road bike a run for its money. I've hit 26mph on mine on the flat without killing myself. Climbs hills like they dont exist with its incredible 10 to 42 11 speed sram cassette. And its the sexiest folder ever made. People are always telling me what a good looking bike it is.
And even with a rack and fenders on it. It will be less than 25lbs in weight. Awesome bike and well worth the £2500 I paid for it. Had it for 4 years. And had to do zero maintainance on it. Apart from a few tire and chain changes. It's pure quality and made to last..

How did you adjust the belt drive? Any special tools to get the right tension?

    • @danielsonhobbies
      @danielsonhobbies  4 года назад +1

Loosen the bolts similar to when changing a flat tire. You can use the Gates tension app to adjust accordingly. Once proper tension has been set, make sure wheel is center and secure wheel. However do not overtighten the set screws on the frame as the aluminum on frame could easily strip. Hope that helps.
