Gahhhhhhh I love Humanoid!! Of course it does synth, vocoder and hard tune effects but it also can be used more subtle. I've been using it to get an incredibly expensive sounding high end on my lead vocals in everything from a pop to country track. If you already have a tuned vocal duplicate that track and put Humanoid on the dupe... Make sure to be in "scale mode" and turn off "key" and have "quantize" turned all the way down. In "Utility" crank the "range" all the way up, "de-ess" to noon, "gate" at 2 o'clock and "smoothing" up to about 80%. From there it's up to you to dial in your SYNTHESIZE and FILTER section to taste. Whatever you do make sure to HPF... I set mine around noon. I also crank the "widen" effect. When you got the sound you want mix it in with your lead vocal to taste

You can even put auto-tune on a track with humanoid already auto-tuning it and it gives you this super cool futuristic/hyperpop type sound. If you add some distortion too before the autotuning in the chain then it really gives you a crazy vocal effect. Kanye-ish

Thanks for the video. The only thing I am missing is the before audio. Would have been interesting to listen with which signals the processor was fed in order to get certain results.

can you guys add a microtuning feature? for example a way to do this would be to offer offsetting by +50 or -50 cents for each note

Hello! Humanoid's FFT-based retuning engine, unique features, and gripping UI set it apart from other vocal effects and it is not the intention to compete with Izoptope's Vocal Synth. I encourage you to try the demo yourself and I think you will find charm in the unique sound of Humanoid!

It sounds great! although it is similar to iZotope's Vocal Synth 2 I find it easier to get good sounds faster. Until when is the launch discount?
Hey Gabriel! I think you will find Humanoid to be different from Izotope's Vocal Synth. Humanoid's FFT-based re-tuning engine along with many other features set it apart from other vocal effects plugins. The launch discount usually runs for a couple of months!
What is the difference between this and another vocoder plugin? I can't see or hear the difference.
Humanoid has a FFT-based retuning engine, synthesis, and many other built-in features and effects that set it apart from a traditional vocoder. I suggest checking out the product page for more detailed information and trying it out for yourself with a free trial :)
Thanks Baby Audio, I'm loving the plugin so far! I just can't figure out how to import midi tracks. I can only select the notes on the midi section, but I would like it to change chords. I've seen people pull it off with Ableton Live, but I don't have that DAW. Is there anyway to pull off importing midi tracks using the Humanoid interface?

I have just about all of their plugins love them but l wonder why the company is called “Baby Audio”
The original idea was that we make "Baby" plugins like the original IHNY, but that has definitely evolved over the years! Also, we just think it has a nice ring to it :D

Very disappointed that the lowest latency setting is 2,313 samples so this cannot be used live in real-time. I hope Baby can fix this and get it under 128 samples. Was very excited about this until I found that out.
We hear you! At the current latency, Humanoid is actually still lower than similar plugins in their regular modes (i.e. non-low latency modes). So for mixing / production, we believe it's at an acceptable level. Humanoid's main purpose is for mixing/production. And we definitely recommend that you try the demo first if you want to use it live!
Having said that: One thing on the drawing board for us right now is to see if we can make a proper live-mode so the plugin can be used by singers in realtime. Hopefully we can bring that out with one of the next updates!
Until then you will hopefully see a use for Humanoid as a mix tool at least :) That's the main purpose of the plugin.

Humanoid doesn't export MIDI, you can send MIDI to Humanoid though! I suggest trying out the free trial on our site so you can see why :)

Of course -- you're just running audio into it, and it doesn't matter what that audio is... Although some sources will obviously sound better (or worse) than others.
You can route MIDI to Humanoid for that vocoding effect!

Humanoid isn't meant to directly compete with other Vocoder plugins as it offers other features such as its FFT-based retuning engine, effects, and the synthesize module allowing for a multitude of different possibilities. You can try the free trial on our site as long as you'd like to make up your mind! :)
How can I get midi mode to work in logic??
You have to load an instrument track in logic. Instead of choosing an instrument, you go all the way down and select "midi controlled effect", then pick Humanoid. Now you can add a midi clip to the track Humanoid is on and send a vocal input into the track via sidechain.

I can see how this would be very interesting for anyone needing a one-stop-vocal-tuning plugin. But the extra eq, utility and FX sections look a bit limited and I don't feel it adds anything that other plugins, before or after this one, couldn't do better and with more control. Makes it way too expensive for me. I'll just stick with Little Alterboy.
To keep the interface simple, we've hidden extra settings when clicking the "gear" icons on each parameter to give the user more control. We offer a free trial on our website I encourage you to try it as I think you will find a unique sound from Humanoid over the other plugins you mentioned, though, Humanoid isn't meant to compete with those. There are over 180 presets to help you get started experimenting :)
@@BABYAudio-official Well I don't rely on vocal tuning as an effect in my productions, and only use it occasionally - and often more as a joke. So for me this plugin is way too expensive to justify the purchase.
@@wouterdesmedt1736 Understood! Vocal tuning is only a part of Humanoid that can be turned off. You can use Humanoid as a harmony creator, vocoder, and many other effects. We plan to make some more videos on its application but there are a lot of resources out there plus a new sound examples video on our channel too :). You can check out the free trial as well.
