Honestly i was thinking the same...I mean I love Srk but The year 1997 when he won the Best actor Award for Dil toh Pagal hai I thought it was unfair...I mean Look at Sunny Deol in Border..such a Pure class Act....Srk also Did well with Dil toh Pagal hai..But the award really felt unfair
@DannyDeVito Exactly the reason why todays generation won't enjoy it because this film was made in 1995 with practical effects its very difficult to do. And back then war films were rarely made in India, it was mostly rom-coms or single hero villian regularise action films. Now people have got used to spy films war films and other action genre with CGI/VFX in play.
There is no competition with any bollywood war movies because of hardwork done by all actor.without VFX they Done Real location action.and what a dialog.master piece.Hats off to director JP DUTTA.👏👏👏
In 1997 I was 9 years Old.. Now I am 34. I went to see this movie in a nearby CinemaHall from my House with my DAD.. Just loved the Movie & the songs completely ✌Feel so so Nostalgic 🙂

Fantastic movie. The finest thing about this movie was it was shot on real location rather than using VFX and that is why the scenes looks so much real on screen. Just like today's SOUTH INDIAN MOVIES like KGF which has been shot on real location and that is why it took us to a different world while watching the movie. VFX should be used only where it is required logically but BOLLYWOOD should not be so much dependent on VFX and rather they should work hard and shoot on real locations. Each and every member of 'BORDER' movie deserves appreciation for their dedication and hard work and making this movie so beautiful.
Will never forget this movie, I remember I was in class 8th in Jalahalli Bangalore, year 1999. There were 6 continuous sirens in the Air Force campus, signifying an emergency situation like an air raid etc. Suddenly I saw every one getting ready with their uniforms. My dad back then was a Trainer in the Airforce's Electrical and Instrumentation training institute. He hurriedly packed his bag with the service issued gears like his Ankle guards, an old multi utility knife set, service revolver and ran towards the service bus stop, then being transported to the Yelhanka base , from where flew to Awantipora. I remember we would not see him for around 6 months and would only watch tv for the war updates. Border movie would be played almost every day on Doordarshan. Dad still recalls his frontline days when IAF pounded the key hills from the forward command. Border movie is not just a movie it's an emotion 🫡
Great JP Datta made this movie possible. A man with great vision. This movie instilled patriotism in each and every Indian. When the movie was made , JP Datta received threats from Pakistani outfits but he didn't entertain them.
No over the top vfx, cgi, no impractically impressive aesthetic actors, not sympathizing the enemies to create AMAN KI ASHA type of drama….just pure talent, real location and real stuff. No war movie can ever match this masterpiece😍🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳😍

Great movie .. beautifully shot .. based on the battle of Longewala ,1971 .. The number of Indian casualties is exaggerated in the movie for dramatic effect Actually india lost only two soldiers .. 1 anti-tank gun destroyed 5 camels killed Pakistan lost 200 soldiers 36 tanks destroyed 500+ vehicles destroyed or abandoned.. It's our own battle of Thermopile after the haldhighati battle in 1576 .. Bowing before the great Indian Army .. Jai Hind🇮🇳

Still the best Indian War Movie! Such an amazing cast and excellent film. Such a shame it didn’t win the Filmfare Best Film Award which was again purchased by Yash Harami Chopra. In fact this was one of the last Filmfare Award Ceremonies I watched due to how disgraceful it was. The two best movies were Border & Gupt but Dil To Pagal Hai still “won” (purchased) most of the awards? Like wtf?
The film was made at the right time, when the generation needed to know what happened in 71 war, not feeding the audience something which happened recently or which they saw in their lifetime, so curiosity was factored in. And thankfully, since it was made in 97, they used very little VFX (aircraft through the fire scene :p), therefore the audience was spared of the pathetic Bollywood VFX of today. The sand, dust, explosions, night sky, the Tanks - everything is real in this movie.
Dil to pagal is a story.... And was written But Border...is A history....it was happened..not written so DTPH Got ...Best Film story'....and acting while in Border...their is a emotion of a Soldier...which reflects same ..in every Citizen of India and a hindustani
