    Gibraltar
By Freddie Hubbard / arr. Mike Kamuf
    Item: 00-45076
    Series: Jazz Band
    Grade 3.5
    Ensemble: Jazz Ensemble
    Format: Conductor Score & Parts
Freddie Hubbard's ""Gibraltar"" is a jazz standard recorded by all the greats. A very hip samba played at around 180 BPM, written-out solos provided for trumpet 2 and tenor sax 2, plenty of action for the drummer, and lead trumpet range to written A. There are a few snippets of Freddie Hubbard licks throughout. A smokin' chart in every way, arranged by Mike Kamuf. (6:28)

Freddie Hubbard! Gibraltar is a fine tune for sure. Freddie is so underrated as a composer, and yes, even as a trumpet player.

I dont know if this was intentional, it likely was, but the song sounds similar to Blue Bossa at the beginning. Let me be clear: this is not a complaint lol. I love both songs

Truly a great tune! It's from Freddie Hubbard's "Born to be Blue."

I put Freddie's groove lick in there that he does from time to time. When he uses this device, Freddie uses alternate fingerings on the repeated notes - it's a very cool effect & I just had to put it in there!

WOAH Are you the real deal? If not im still grateful to know the origin of that lick. For some reason i didn't think more than one person contributed

Freddie composed the tune and I arranged it. Not sure if I'm the "real deal" or not but I am the arranger of this one! Freddie is one of my favorite composers and I was glad I had the opportunity to write this arrangement.

Yes - the top note is optional because it is out of range for this series.
