Why are you not a big name in the "drum community"? These videos are always way above the level of usual RUclips drum tutorial stuff. Maybe you didn't go around gigging and making a name or what? Or maybe I'm simply ignorant :)
Some of the best educators don’t even waste their time with that group…. Steve is great and if anything give him props on your own Instagram pages or whatever you have going on! 🤦
Just great video man. I’m really serious about my music and am thinking about going to school for it. I have been playing around with 5 groupings all year, but this video will really help build on them. Thanks a ton man!!
Gavin Harrison did a 5s segment on Drumeo. 5s are one of his staples though he uses a different sticking - RLRRL (a paradiddle with a L after) Definitely check it out. It will change your world. It's call Favorite Sticking.
Another great video Steve. I’m trying to follow everything even though a lot of your stuff is pretty advanced. You’ve reached that point where everything flows and you make it look easy. Only the best drummers can do this. Peter Erskine is another one who can do this as an example, but I prefer your style.
Thank you for another great video!!! I not only learn from your info, but you present it in such a way to take it and find different ways to use it. You are a master musician, and teacher. Thank you!!!
This is way better than a lot of drum educational videos. Thank you. I love your tone too :) it's the sort you can listen to all day long without getting tired of it.
Why, in the name of all that is holy, would people continue to pay for Drumeo when this dude is legit putting out the best drum videos on RUclips for free. Shit. I’d pay for lessons. :)
This is great Steve. Thanks for sharing. This is like the Chaffee stickings (5C)...I've been working with fives like this and as 16th notes triplets...still a work in progress
Another fantastic video with tons of great information laid out clearly in an easy to understand fashion with superior recording and editing! Thanks again Steve!
You have improved my drumming by a YARD. I can actually solo.. with actual ideas.. sometimes I get anxious and I don't know what to play even though I know alot of licks.. I just forget them and get excited... these videos keep me grounded.. slow down and practice that's what I've learnt. So thank you so much.
Oh man this gave me an idea for stretching some stuff I've been working on. I found myself doing some stuff with paradiddles within eighth note triplets and once I figured out what I was doing I began moving them back and forth along the grid. I think I'll give a shot at 5 groupings within triplets using the ideas you gave here and take that to another level. I somewhat wore myself out with the 5 within 16ths to a fault back in my fusion days...to a point where it was becoming a predictable thing along with other "devices" I had in my limited bag back then. Once I grew up, I started really applying the principles of exhausting the possibilities of variations. This really started me thinking now about revisiting the 5 within "whatever" groupings. 16ths, eighth-note triplets, 16th triplets, 32nds!!! Phrasing 5s within 9 over 2 (triplets within quarter-note triplets). Thanks for warping my mind even more that it already was :) Oh, and happy birthday Steve!
Another great lesson. I've spent a long time on flam rolls and now this. More to work on. Glad you disseminate your skills and knowlege to drummers. Keep it going! The thumbs down has to be a fat finger error.
Have your DVD “Shed Some Light” (it has). Really, really good DVD. Some people are great players, others are great teachers. You are both ... so how about about a damn book already?! : )
Steve~ Met u at Cuesta College a few years back with your trio...Insanely good! I told you then that I bought "Shed The Light" (?) You said, " Oh, you're the guy!" I've said it before and I'll say it again, your postings are the pinnacle in instructional videos. You introduce concepts and phrasing that even a life-long hack like me can absorb. Every time I shed with your vids I advance in technical, very musical ways. DONT STOP POSTING... You're the best! RU Gigging in the southland anywhere? Thank you! '
Great video, this is very helpful. Lots of inspiration from watching this video.
Thanks Adam!
These videos are up there with some of the best drum tutorials out on RUclips!
Turn on subtitles and go to 15:22 "three four decades adapt target to duck duck bear".
duck duck bear is always a great way to end a phrase. I might use that!
Your instructions are always just the most interesting.

He is the owner of Houseofdrumming.com where all the drum geeks go. Hes known. But yeah, very underrated, underexposed as a drummer.
Your stuff is always high quality. Thanks.
Very cool and practical..Another great vid
Steve is such a great instructor, patient and articulate.
A great use of regrouped fives, is the solo on Rod Stewart I’m Losing You

Surely Very helpfull! Thanks Steve.
Really enjoying your videos Steve, really clear and well explained and beautifully played. Have been a great source of inspiration. Cheers 😎🍻
Best lesson I've ever seen on RUclips. How did you perfect fast 32nd note doubles n j.d beck type pop from ghost notes?
Gracias master!!
Awesome lesson as usual Steve! Keep it moving forward. Blessings!
Steve, another great lesson and again my sincere thanks that you are willing to share your ideas. God bless you bro!
👍🙂I like Weckl’s method of counting.. count it in double-time.. 5 becomes 2 &, 7= 3 &, 9= 4 &..👍🙂 Great for phrasing & counting…👍🙂
This is way better than a lot of drum educational videos. Thank you. I love your tone too :) it's the sort you can listen to all day long without getting tired of it.

Like the one with flams and fives with accents. Great one. Thank you.
You put out consistently solid content. Keep it up. Much respect from San Diego!
I really appreciate how you slow it down , putting the cookies on the lower shelf , thanks !
This is a phenomenally good instructional video! Thank you.
nice little phrase of notes. You don't run into any 3 in a row on one hand so it's pretty efficient at the basic level.
man, love your feel brother....awesome lesson, thank you.
Great lesson Steve. You are not only a great player but also a great teacher. Thank you
My left foot always wants to do more than 1/4 notes.. it goes crazy

Открыл столько нового для себя для занятий в этом видео. Понятно и просто. Невероятно. От простого к сложному. Отлично. Спасибо Стив.
Пожалуйста! Я рад, что это помогло.
Nice!! I love 5s but there is a lot of stuff I have not incorporated. Those flam ideas are super hip. Another terrific presentation!!
Love it!🤘🏼
Brutal.
