Interesting stuff! I generally just do a wood cook if super windy to reduce the risk of gas blowing out, but this would be a useful addition! I wonder also if the arch will change things again re: pressure/wind into the dome. Great video :D

Just subscribed to your channel, Got the dome last year but picked up many tips. Wish we could get those flame blockers in UK as it often stops me from bothering when its windy!

I just commented on an older video of yours but figured I’d double down a newer one in case it’d be easier to see lol - anyways, do you ever have any issues with the deck keeping temperature when cooking back-to-back pizzas? I currently have 2 Roccboxes I planned to use for mobile business, but have had issues with cooking repetitive pizzas I assume because of how small the deck is. Great design for home use, but was hoping to get some insight on the Dome as I may upgrade. Love your content man!!

Hey Matt, I just got the Nu2u flame tamer. I’ve only used it once so far. Does the stone heat up more farther away from the flame? I have a dome!

Hello Anthony, the main benefit of the flame tamer is to help even out the heat coming off the burner, but to your point I have found it does help the stone heat up a bit faster and helps the oven retail heat. It can heat the stone up a bit faster which would help the far side of the stone but i don't think its going to make it heat up that much more. I pre heat my oven on high for about 1 hour before use to assure the whole stone is 850F all over before using which helps me.

Wouldn't fire bricks do the same for a fraction of the cost? To me thats a rip off $99 & $69!!

Thanks for watching! The main issue with using fire bricks are that they block not only the flame but the heat causing un even cooking! The thick carbon steel blocks the actual flame and transfers the heat! If you had a larger oven, you could use bricks to kind of help manage the heat and flame putting in these little ovens I found the steel works much better
