    I was debating on hanging my generator the same way you did. I opted for getting a 900 lb rated hitch installed instead and made a custom hitch-mounted generator carrier for my Yamaha 4500. I like the box idea for sure, mine is a tray style with a fitted tarp cover.

    nice job. I need to find out how much weight My Rv can carry back there before going ahead. In the past at hunt camp we always just made a box with 2 inch blue insulation and left the exhaust side open and that worked well. Was wondering if you considered insulating that box with a 1 inch foam inside.

  • @Captleemo
    @Captleemo 3 года назад +2

    That reminded me of securing my 9 inch crt tv down in my sleeper when I was driving truck. There was a tv compartment in the sleeper and a strap similar to yours to secure the tv. Never the less I was going through Louisiana one time that was quite a bumpy experience on I 10. Somehow the tv got loose and crashed to the floor. Thankfully it still worked but when I got home I went to Academy and bought an orange kick ball which was about the size of a soccer ball and I also bought a hand held pump with one of those needles for inflating the kick ball. Next time I went out in the truck I deflated the kickball enough so it would sit on top of the tv and then inflated it enough to fit against the top of the enclosure which helped hold the tv snugly within the tv enclosure. I f you any problems with your generator getting loose I would consider getting a couple of solid rubber bungee cords in addition to that strap to help secure it and keep constant tension to hold it down. Just a suggestion for what its worth.
