Marisha is a genius for the idea but props to Brennan for running with it. I almost peed myself laughing at "it's like lawn chair. You just make horse stack."
Brennan literally skipped on his bartending job to take improv classes. Yes And-ing is practically second nature to him. also, if you note at the start, Brennan was staring intently at Marisha and Matt when Marisha started the horse stacking idea. He was processing _exactly_ how he'd Yes And the bit.
Interestingly, Brennan admits that he doesn't play like Emily. He considers himself like NADDPOD DM (and Emily's husband) Brian "Murph" Murphy: rules guys. Emily is a habitual line stepper. She keeps testing the boundaries of what shenanigans her DM will allow, and that's where she truly shines. Brennan, on the other hand, will "rules lawyer" situations based on his (very deep) understanding of the rules.
He’s just yes anding the clearly best comedic idea, really props to Sam for the analysis. Really the “cause this for sure gonna happen” is the most dnd part of this.
@@romxxii I feel though, that he knows Matt is also a rules lawyer and he barely ever gets to be a PC so he saw Matt kinda of allowing it so he leaned into the joke as hard as he could. He’s a rules lawyer but he also LOVES a good bit
Brennan, never questioning the idea for a second, simply playing mind games about how to efficiently get 5 people to the top of 3 stacked horses and having a blast… this is where the talent comes in.
I think this is my favorite thing right now. Just. The amount of laughter and the silliness of it all and Matt just going "yeah this is incredible". This gang was so enjoyable to watch, and Brennan as always is so chaotic.
Watching Brennan workshop this bit in real-time, delightful. You can see the moment where he goes oh Matt thinks this is funny. How far can I push the joke. 😂😂
the rhythm of “i wonder if we can stack our horses on top of each other if we summon them strategically” has been stuck in my head since i watched live it’s INCREDIBLE
The moment it was no longer a bit was. "we should really break this down. Because it for sure gonna happen." Brennan was basically saying. "Matt. I'm not sorry."
I just love Matt cracking up for a whole fucking minute. Absolutely broken for a minute. And the fit would probably had continue if Sam hadn't called him out with a ruling.
I'm coming back here cuz I was thinking about this bit for some reasons and man this is as hilarious as ever. My favorite thing is Brennan carrying on with the utmost seriousness in the world, looking at Matt straight in the eyes while the man is literally DYING from laughter. He really wanted to finish him 🤣
Fuck, i've only seen the short so I didn't know they actually went through with it😆 The fact that all of them ran with it is amazing. Also, Matt losing his shit is wonderful.
i feel like this scene is missing that somewhat iconic tallison jaffe laughter. you know, the one you hear after "thats fair", "they were peoples canes and things" or "and it was the metric system"
I've watched this multiple times and only just realized that if this is how horse summons worked then summoning just your horse would mean you get flattened when it falls on top of you
I love how they accurately predicted that speedrunners would use horses to clear gaps they coudn't clear yet. Not through stacking them sadly, but still.
So Marisha should've summoned Supernova first if Ed needed to be on the base of the 3 horse stack. The critical role team are definitely novice horse stackers. Surprised Brennan, being the consummate horse-stacking professional didn't pick up on this obvious issue ...
@@adoragrayskull that's true, though I was thinking if elden ring is the template for this, then a horse is summoned from the ground up, not drops from the sky. So supernova would appear in Eds place, and push Ed upwards. Game logic. Lol.
I like how they just do the horse stack when it’s much easier to summon a giraffe. But hell, it’s dnd, all logic and critical thinking is thrown out the window lololol
So, why didn't they simply do a 3 horse stack with 3 people, have the 3 people get on the ledge, then the remaining 2 people do a horse stack, and have 1 person on the ledge jump down to the 2 horse stack and then summon his/horse to make it a 3 horse stack to bring everyone else up?
@@alittleantidote5852 The way I pictured it was that when person 2 summons horse 2, person 1 would be on horse 2 as well. That way, if you get 3 people on horse 1, then person 2 summons horse 2 to raise person 1, 2, and 3 to horse 2, and then person 3 summons horse 3 to bring person 1, 2, and 3 up the stairs. Then, you have person 3 get rid of horse 3, have them jump back down to horse 2 from the platform (roll for that), and then meanwhile person 4 and person 5 take turns summoning their horses to jump on the first stack's horse 2, and have person 3 carry them to the platform again. Then get rid of all horses once everyone is on the platform.
I'm back here after watching Mercer break BG3 by stacking 45 crates to get over a rampart. Well played, sir.
Same
Marisha is a genius for the idea but props to Brennan for running with it. I almost peed myself laughing at "it's like lawn chair. You just make horse stack."
I think Brennan was so good at it because that's totally the type of shit Emily would've come up with to solve the problem
Brennan literally skipped on his bartending job to take improv classes. Yes And-ing is practically second nature to him.

Favorite underrated moment:
Matt: "I'm gonna say, the stairs are probably not designed with horses in mind..."
Brennan: "Why?"
It's the embodiment of 'Y'
2:06 😂
@@margotchaput3070She has a point.
(His character.)
The comedic timing of Sam going "if we are short, I could stack three wolves on top" took me out
2:37 for people to return for that moment faster =)
I love that Matt’s justification for this is, “Eh, this sounds like something speedrunners would do.”
He’s not wrong
"Let's really break this down, cause this for sure gonna happen"
Is Brennan a god?!
For sure he’s a Trickster
'are you trying to break the physics engine?' matt, you ARE the physics engine, and it worked.
Matt starting to cry is my favorite. Brennan will ALWAYS extend your bit
Always count on Mulligan to take your bit to the furthest logical conclusion.
I think its the hardest I've ever seen Matt laugh 😂 I want him and Brennan togethet more so bad
@GZilla311 "Your name is Hilda Hilda, and you live at 22 Hilda Street?"
I love Sam asking for clarification and Matt, cackling half to death is just waving his hand, like “please I need time to recoup”
Brennan, never questioning the idea for a second, simply playing mind games about how to efficiently get 5 people to the top of 3 stacked horses and having a blast… this is where the talent comes in.
He's an improv god
He's applying his DM style to his playing
Matt's reaction is absolute gold. He's so proud of them.
If you EVER need a master class in "Yes, and" just watch Brennan Lee Mulligan in ANYTHING
I do not know why, but I really love the way Marisha says "strategically"
Because that’s the moment she knows she is admitting trying to break the physics engine. Until then it was a maybe
“We gotta really break this down, cuz this is for sure going to happen”
Matt hand waving is him begging for mercy for a brief moment and it’s hilarious
Matt doing the summoning stack sound effect at 4:11 is way too hilarious!
*Horse 1: Dude, WTF?*
*Horse 2: I know right?*
Okay, Krystina asking which way the horses should be stacked is also criminally underrated
0:26 "I wonder if we can stack our horses on top of each other"

1:39 is we’re Brennan realizes it’s not just a bit but an actual plan Marisha is trying to pull off
Matt never recovered and lost control of the entire session. MArisha and Brennan utterly broke him
i was doing so well holding it in to not wake my neighbors but then sam comes in from behind " if we're short, i can stack three wolfs on top." 🤣
Matt's QA days just came flooding back to him
Cheap, Fast & Out of Control....
Now we gotta make Horse Stacking Canon in Elden Ring.
Genius idea by Marisha!! Awesome highlight!
All I can picture is like 6 horses in Skyrim being stacked on top of each other on the side of a cliff
1:48 I love how he asked Matt how far up they'd have to build the horse stack and he just raises his hand away like "No more please..spare me of this"
I love that Marisha comes up with a silly idea, and Brennan and Sam are like, "oh ya, this baby's got LEGS!" and just run with it
The moment it was no longer a bit was. "we should really break this down. Because it for sure gonna happen." Brennan was basically saying. "Matt. I'm not sorry."
It’s Sams “I could stack three wolves on top” that really takes the cake for me
POV: My last 5 braincells trying to worm me out of the consequences of my own actions at 3am.
I just love Matt cracking up for a whole fucking minute. Absolutely broken for a minute.
And the fit would probably had continue if Sam hadn't called him out with a ruling.

This is one of my favorite moments in all of Critical Role.
Fuck, i've only seen the short so I didn't know they actually went through with it😆 The fact that all of them ran with it is amazing. Also, Matt losing his shit is wonderful.
Same!! 😂
I'm going to come back to this moment for years
Brennan is a gift to the world, Matt needs to get him on the next campaign, like how he did with Robbie
I want to see this animated so badly
Brennan’s improvisation abilities are unparalleled
I love at 0:37 Brennan just commits to the bit.
Alex plays Broken Edelweiss to summon Ed the horse.
I hear what you did there.
i feel like this scene is missing that somewhat iconic tallison jaffe laughter.
you know, the one you hear after "thats fair", "they were peoples canes and things" or "and it was the metric system"
Thanks for isolating this genius moment
I've watched this multiple times and only just realized that if this is how horse summons worked then summoning just your horse would mean you get flattened when it falls on top of you
Thank you for this
No one's talking about Sam's subtle "measure in hands" pun.
I love how they accurately predicted that speedrunners would use horses to clear gaps they coudn't clear yet. Not through stacking them sadly, but still.
“everybody in all seriousness we should start a troupe”
Hold on, so when you summon horses in D&D, they . . . fall from the sky??? Like real fast, fully formed?
I think it is time for a nice horse stack, no?
So Marisha should've summoned Supernova first if Ed needed to be on the base of the 3 horse stack. The critical role team are definitely novice horse stackers. Surprised Brennan, being the consummate horse-stacking professional didn't pick up on this obvious issue ...
No cause marisha got on top of ed and the summoned supernova
@@adoragrayskull that's true, though I was thinking if elden ring is the template for this, then a horse is summoned from the ground up, not drops from the sky. So supernova would appear in Eds place, and push Ed upwards. Game logic. Lol.
Rare they break Matt this hard
This is what God intended horses for. That's why they're shaped like that.
I like how they just do the horse stack when it’s much easier to summon a giraffe. But hell, it’s dnd, all logic and critical thinking is thrown out the window lololol
I think it's because this is the Elden Ring one-shot, so they only have the horses they got from Melina
Is there an elden ring mod for horse ladders
I was so expecting the horse to spawn on top and just fall awkwardly and both horses just break all their limbs.
WAIT... BOLO??
Brennan isn't on critical role because he would completely overshadow everyone XD
So, why didn't they simply do a 3 horse stack with 3 people, have the 3 people get on the ledge, then the remaining 2 people do a horse stack, and have 1 person on the ledge jump down to the 2 horse stack and then summon his/horse to make it a 3 horse stack to bring everyone else up?
because they had to jump off the existing horse for the summoned horse to be stacked on it
I’m just guessing here, they’re weren’t thinking straight
@@alittleantidote5852 The way I pictured it was that when person 2 summons horse 2, person 1 would be on horse 2 as well. I want horse-stacking logistics to be on the next geometry exam
Was Brennan playing Bolo in this one?
this is just elder scrolls
