i own the grey one (version 2?) already fitted portal axles and beadlocks (1.9 looks more scale..) , also AXE 1800KV Brushless WP combo. replaced all the gearbox bushings with ballbearings, metal front and rear bumper (had to dremel the body a bit at the back), complete light kit, LED bar, stock front servo mount is as good a gone, made my own mount in styreen. (will upgrade it to the alluminium plate in the future) i have some video's but not on youtube. will do my best to upload them to my channel. my version i only have to loosen like 8 screws to disconnect the body from the chassis. thx for the vid.
You never did do a video of the upgraded esc, i want to know what i need to do to change mine as you said the transmitter and esc it built into one? How do i fit a new transmitter for the same radio and change the esc?
I had it for a while and then sold it on. It was just massive so taking up a load of room. If you shop around you can get a good deal on one. The body is great
Probably not unless Hobao gets in contact with me to dp a promotion. I sold my last Fat Fox a few weeks ago but I do have another NIB Fat Fox in stock but the TT01 chassis is going on a Mk1 Escort body once I've built it next week. I will keep the Fat Fox body, wheels and decals as I want to fit that onto a VX01 or TC-01 chassis next month or so.
I was looking up spares as well a little while ago. I didn’t find much yet so this could be a big issue for this 4x4. I need to do more digging before the next video.
@@RCKickschannel A bit closer to home than that. About 20 miles north of Birmingham...😂 If i select the HK warehouse it is £29 delivery but then the model is £8 more expensive from there than China. Am i doing something wrong?
Lee Robinson If you are looking to get one I would keep an eye on it, I’ve noticed prices fluctuate. Also I’m Supposed to be getting a discount code for it but I don’t know what % that will be yet. I’ll post it once I get any info. I am still yet to push this truck on the trails so stay tuned for that as it should give you more information on its capabilities. I will also upgrade it a bit and see if that helps improve its trail abilities.
You could paint the rims no problem. Some etch primer and a top coat would do it. I think this body would be perfect for weathering up and adding some more detailed parts.
The build quality and materials just doesn't seem stack up against the likes of Tamiya, Traxxas etc, sure the price points are vastly different so catering to a different market. But feels very generic and I'd be surprised if this lasts very long out on the trails. Looking forward to your running review!
I would agree after building a Tamiya CC-01 chassis today but its not that far off. You can't compare it to a £500 Traxxas TRX4 as that's so much more than the £180 Banggood Land Rover. As for longevity, I also agree with you, its a bit of an unknown but I plan to find out on the trails soon.
I’m a fan of the Tamiya products, that being said Tamiya isn’t exactly going to be high end when it comes to rc world competition. Most people that are buying , building and restoring Tamiya products are doing it for nostalgia because they grew up building them . I would think the Banggood products should be able to hold its own vs the Tamiya on the simple fact that the Cc-01 chassis has be over 20 yrs old now . Will be interesting to watch and see the results. Great video Gavin.
Tamiya actually made one of, if not the best touring car ever made. You don't remember the Tao3? It and the associated dominated touring car in the late 90's early 2000's.
I put it 3660 2100kv 60A, but is too fast, in addition, I damaged the front axle, it is almost all metal, but it has a plastic hat, now i can't find spare parts
Gerlande 2 kit quite good ,mostly steel ,not cheap £400 + no electronics, can be upgraded very easily ,highly detailed hard body very heavy when completed ,battery area is a bit tight ,having no diffs you can lock and unlock are a disappointment .
I am not a big fan of crawlers but on another channel i watch... (sorry for cheating on you Gav🤪) he has had a couple of bangood specials and they seem to be good bang for your buck!!
The body is really the only thing of any worth. The best thing to do is build a new chassis and mount the body on it. It’s really just maddening that they won’t just make the vehicle atleast on a platform that can be upgraded. I would rather just have them sell the body for $100 dollars and they can keep the rest.
My first crawler was a TRX4 Sport and that is an Insanely capable full on rock crawler. When I picked up the CC-02 Benz I really didn’t have high expectations for it due to its size and Tamiya’s crawler history with the CC-01. That cc-02 chassis really impressed me and I’ve pushed it hard. I had to make one or two changes but this was a simple thing to do and it’s become one of my favourites. The 1/8th defender is more like 1/7th yes. My main concern at this time is the lovely body will compromise the trail driving capabilities due to how heavy it is. I’ll find out soon enough.
@@RCKickschannel Hello, any updates on this monster? Have you made any ugrades? I'm looking to get one as my first crawler but I'm not sure 100% about this option or if I have something better to choose. Thank you very much.

So keep the body and toss the rest!? Because it’s all rubbish. That is as close to a crawler as your Kyosho Fantom is. Oh please don’t go down this road Gavin. You have a great platform of “building kits”, “restoration” and “hobby grade” equipment. Which I really enjoy!!! You think nothing about dropping a few quid on a decent genuine Kyosho brushed motor, which are not cheap. To keep the kit period. What you have there is a toy grade el cheapo that admittedly looks good, well if you don’t look to hard. But if you look closer you have to replace all the screws on the body!? Add a bearing kit. Replace the ESC and receiver (and therefore have a useless transmitter), probably both servos as one hits and prevents the suspension from working. And the costs just keep adding up. Maybe get an Axial SCXiii kit and build that up as a project. Put the proper gear in it and have some quality time using it for its intended purpose. I know which one you will in the short term and long term be happier with. Parts availability and upgrades such as locked diffs, weighted wheels gearing etc. are plentiful for established brands. As soon as the Bang Good special breaks, it’s landfill. I appreciate that maybe you are offering a budget alternative for those who may be can not afford hobby grade gear, but that was really hard to watch.
