He or she is likely terribly hungry. It's a runaway used to being fed every day on a farm and is foraging for anything that looks like food. A pile of canned corn and bowl of water would make him a friend for life right about now. At least they didn't shoot it.
Fun true fact; the Australian army declared war on Emus in the 1930's. The emus won. Search Emu war in Australia. We have never been able to live that one down, defeated in war by emus.
@@crows714 That's so true. Thanks for your video, they can be very curious in the wild and used to race along side of my motorbike on a property I was working on.
I watched the video and I noticed the 360p resolution and it wasn't wide screen... I noticed that it was uploaded yesterday... I noticed that it all happened in Pittsboro, North Carolina (It says so in the description.) I noticed there's no snow. Then I looked at the weather in your city and it 21 F right now... I noticed the dried leafs on the grass, so this must be fall... I noticed both your boys are wearing t-shirts and it's not t-shirt weather... I noticed the youngest of your two boys is holding a flip phone... You're a time traveler! Fuck I'm old!
It was shot on a Canon XL-1 in March 2008. I found it reviewing some old tapes and noticed the crows calling so I thought it would be a fun upload (especially since I had done my daily duty and uploaded a crow video shot within the last 24 hours). I must say you have a keen eye for details!
I live in Pittsboro, NC. It just so happens that Carrboro, NC has a couple of Emu farms, and apparently Emus are very good at escaping. It was a 'life bird' for me, although it wasn't listed in eBird :)
@@crows714 Nice one, eBird ! LOL ! Oh, It's seem Emu fly like a chicken to go over the fence. I'm sure the crows did the alarm call to advise of the intruder. Crows are pretty territorial and remember the face of people. Crows are good security guards.
@@mathbc1984Emu don't even have forearms so I don't know what you saw to make you think it was flying. Their forelimbs are the size of a pinky finger and have no attached muscles. Maybe what you saw was a rhea. They look like miniature ostrich and like an ostrich they have actual forelimbs.
There is an emu farm just down the street from me in Oklahoma. My uncle raised outrages. They are supposed to be controlled and not let loose in the environment. This looks like a runaway. They probably have a farmer that raises them nearby.
Just be glad it's not a cassowary bird because they can disembowel a human with one kick. I think they are primarily in New Guinea. But make no mistake These birds are dangerous as well. I knew a man that had several and believe me, one egg for breakfast is enough.
It walks around like I do when I lose my glasses. 😄
I love the way crows walk! It makes me laugh.
😢....I knoooooowwww!
I love emu’s what a wonderful visit!!!

He or she did walk off into the woods and never came back.

OMG that is too hilarious, although nature usually wins in the end :)

@@crows714 I knew it was old footage uploaded recently! I was confused a bit until I connected all the dots! I had fun figuring this out. Take care!

Huh! Bill Clinton looks good for his age.
I wish we knew whether this big boy was recaptured and brought home.
I believe this particular bird was an escape artist. I think he was indeed caught, but then escaped later.
It's seem to me you are in Australia to see a live Emu !

Emu...either escaped or is attached to a person...or is in Australia.
Escaped 😊
Here’s emu poo and emus in Australia. We found the poo and tracks first. Did not know what the heck. Cannot get photos up. Sorry
I would love to see photos of emu poo!
