So how long did it take you to realize that this was the guy you let borrow the pen? Were you apprehensive at all like "I really hope this nice guy doesn't embarrass himself" or had he told you that he was good? Did you see them after?
He was a great man who made me smile every time we spoke and he always made me laugh so hard when we were in a car together and he always said that we were friends and that he loved me too and he would never let anyone touch me because he would always tell me that I love you so much and that you are my heart and my soul and that you were always here for me when we needed each other and we would never ever forget each other and always love each other forever and ever I know that I love him very deeply and always will no matter what he is always and forever my heart and always do my best to be happy and not lose my temper but he got me in that mood by the way he was doing me and I think about him always love you too
lmao yeah tell me about it, first time i actually listened to that part 'properly' and he clearly says 'bother' haha how do people get 'rob' out of that? ....
I was there in line talking to rob and lex for hours before the show. We were right next to each other until they moved a little bit to the right of us. No way that was staged. It was a pleasure to have a few hours to talk to him and his girlfriend. Both are very kind individuals and can’t say enough about how great that experience was. Not only for them but for me being able to be in there lives for a brief time and to see that happen for him. Congratulations man you run with it and never look back.
Good everyone saying would he nail it. Of course he NAILED it its practice. He wasn't lucky and just got lucky and killed it. HE PRACTICED and killed it.
yes That's what we've all gotta do, you like a tune or song, then Learn it,Practice it, 'n' do it again 'n' again 'till you've Nailed it, NOW you can Do it, That's how it works, every time 😮😮😮
Rob, I stumbled across this video of your performance several months ago, and not only have I watched it multiple times, but it has brought the biggest smile to my face every time. Just can’t stop tapping my foot during the performance, and imagining how absolutely cool that would have been to be you, just for that moment in time. Thank you so much for brightening my day, several times.
So many miracle moments here... their signs are barely big enough to be seen... she says “he could be your backup guitarist” with authority, conviction... he starts into the song immediately, which gave it a chance to be played... the drummer gets back to his set to give the intro the momentum it needs to keep going...the song almost concludes at the end of the fist verse, then KU picks it back up to continue, allowing for the rockin’ solo. Some things are just meant to be, and this was one of them. So happy for this kid.
rob is the man, and he said "get on up here bro" im amazed that people are in disbeleif, rob you rock. theres a million people out there that have talent and dont get the chance that rob got. im just glad he got the chance to run that band on that song. i loved it!! thank you Rob for that experience!!!
Just saw the Gilford video, one of the coolest things I've seen in a very long time . Like Keith said ," you killed it ". Very happy for you Rob . I'm a huge country music fan .. So gad your in Nashville playing the music you love . Looking forward to seeing more of your music .many thanks and and all the best . RJ from NH.
I definitely don't believe it was staged, and clearly Keith was either saying "bro" or "brotha". I actually was not really into Keith Urban before watching the video, but have begun listening to him and learning more about him since seeing it. From what I can tell, he is very passionate and grateful for his fans, and seems to have a very positive habit of interacting with his audience and trying to make them feel as much a part of his music and his concerts as possible; Instead of the audience just being a party to his music, he seems to work really hard at making them feel a part of it. After seeing this and watching and listening to more of Keith Urban, its been a rather strange case of me being impressed enough with the guy that I have found myself listening to a genre (country) that I would normally not listen to much. I hope he keeps doing what he is doing. And as far as Rob goes, his practice and preparation finally met opportunity, and he was ready to make the most of it; Props to him, he deserves whatever doors that have opened as a result of his hard work and performance.
100 % not staged and you would think the reporter would get the facts and watch as he said .26 seconds in. Pretty clear that he said Brotha. Pretty sad to ask that. Rude. Reminds me of the interview on the DEWEY COX you would think you would do your research before doing an interview. Come on dude. I believe the reporter thought the same even though he knew the exact time it happened. Then he should no exactly what was said . COME ON UP HERE BROTHA. CRAPPY REPORTER & quit focusing on signs and trying to make him out to be someone he is not. GET A DIFFERENT JOB YOUR BLAND DEMEANOR IS BORING. WOULD'VE ENDED THAT INTERVIEW REALLY QUICK. Boring reporter and monotone voice. Step into my office because you are FREAKIN FRIED.
Keith is the best everything!!!! Been to 9 shows and I’m 64. I had always not liked country music and Keith turned it around for me and I’m obsessed and have been for over 15 years! I have been listening for a good while and my 2 year old grand could sing everytime. I took her to her first concert to see Keith Urban and she was 15. She lost it when he walked on stage and tears just poured from her eyes. It was quite a moment for me and she still loves him. So many wonderful memories of my granddaughter, myself and myself listening to Keith! She knows every word to every song too!
That's what it sounded like to me on the first listen or "Come up here brother", but definitely sounds like "brother" not "Rob". I don't buy it as staged just by watching the bassist's face.
Actually I think he is saying "bro". If you listen at the end when they are done playing Keith is saying "god bless you, bro" ( straight after " you´re gonna play more than pool tonight")
There are always some people who have to be critisizing the luck of someone else because it never happens to them. It's easy to go online and write down 'staged' and stuff like that and create controversy, rather than the fact that Rob just had his breakthrough and cannot be happy for him because of poor self reflections. It's just the way some people are, I quess. Anyways, I check this vid every once and a while because the sound quality is really good and I enjoy the way it's been played live by Rob :).
He said get on up here bruh, this was not staged lol this guy had his mind set and rocked it, never seen anything like this rob your awesome. Im a guitarist myself for 13 years and honestly I know that great musicians can just click like that and only us musicians can fully understand that.... 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Awesome duet with Keith...Just discovered it ! Great great job you' ve done ! Awesome player you are !!!! I will follow you, for sure....Best regards from France
Why do some people want to believe it was rigged? Just take it for what it was, a super great walk on moment, Rob's birthday, Urban being the very cool guy he is. Oh and Rob just slaying Keith's guitar :) Thx for this interview, Kit.
It’ sounds like all the ones saying Staged Don’t know Keith Urban ! He’s that kind of musician, He’s a phenomenal entertainer 🎸 HE LOVES his fans & it shows. He doesn’t just yell greetings from the stage out to the crowds. He proves it by his actions. Where ever Keith plays he usually does pick someone bc something caught his eye. Maybe a funny or meaningful Sign /TShirt whatever it may be. But ya he’ll bring you up there to talk, sing. And it shows that he enjoys it he’s having a good time when he’s interacting with his fans. That’s just who he is. He LOVES his fans he shows us he does. It’s another great reason of why he’s Loved n respected so much ❤️🎶🙌🏼🎸
Come on up here "bruther" is what Keith said. It was not staged. You can tell by Keith's reaction when Rob started playing. Awesome job Rob. Hope it propels you to greater things.

I believe it was completely real and not staged. I'm 99.99% sure Urban says "get on up here BRO" it sounds nothing like Rob. Love the video, awesome opportunity for Rob and he crushed it. KU 1 of my favorites and a great guy, just 1 of the many many things he does to bring people joy. Hope things are going well for u Rob keep going and same to you Keith keep going 1 of these days your gonna make it big 😜
You can clearly hear him say come up here brother. And really Keith Urban wouldn't stage something like that he's a huge star. Thumbs up to Keith Urban and to Rob Joyce that was awesome. God bless Keith Urban and keep on rockin Rob
Yes, I saw the video. Feel so happy for Rob, and so nice of Keith. It must have been a small thing for Keith but it sure made Rob big. I am sure Rob is more motivated. When someone climbs the stages of life, critque sure do follow. In simple English its called "JEALOUSY". Just watch the video, see Keith call somebody out of his band onto the satge and let him play - simple - finish. Why waste energy and time in being inquisitive about if it was staged or not. Go Rob Go! You did great.
Kit, pse do another update interview when Rob finishes touring as part of Riley Green's band on his current tour. We'd love to hear how he landed that gig, and what it was like playing for Riley Green.
I’ve known different Keith Urban musicians. If anyone would have suggested to stage this he would be brutal with them. He’s no nonsense behind the music
The interviewer sounds very suspicious of the whole moment for Rob Joyce, asking if it was staged, rehearsed! Bearing in mind many people, including Keith himself, cover their idol's songs, it is not surprising that Rob would play the song so well, if he had been practicing it for many years! Keith does have a reputation for getting people on stage out of audience to join him and do something together! Whether staged or not it worked out well for Rob and Keith on the day, and Rob acquitted himself well!
wow great job, Kit, being able to talk to Rob like that. I have a couple of questions for Rob, too...has he stayed in touch with Keith Urban or his people? I sort of imagined a couple of scenarios where Keith would show up somewhere that Rob was playing and surprise Rob....:) Would he ever try and play again with Keith onstage? Would he jump at the chance to join Keith's band and actually be his backup guitar player? And BTW, I for one NEVER believed this was staged....it was just one of those once in a lifetime moments that just worked out so well for everybody concerned, especially Rob!
Rob has not been in touch with Keith since that moment, but he has seen him in concert several times since. Wouldn't it be cool if Keith were in the audience at one of Rob's shows and held up a sign that said "Can I play your guitar?"
1:00 Keith is clearly saying "Come on up here, brother!", it's just his Aussie accent probably makes it sound like something else to people who have never heard an Australian accent, lol.
He actually says get on up here brudda, In his Australian Slang voice, i’ve been an avid singer for almost 30 years so if I was invited up somebody stage it would probably be the same way doubters would think that it was staged
a few questions for Rob, if you ever get a chance to speak to him again: 1) was there ever a moment up there on stage when it suddenly hit you that HOLY JEEZ, this isn't just a dream I have been having, I really am up here on stage in front of 20thousand people, I realy am playing Keith Urban's guitar, and there is Keith Urban standing just feet away from me singing while I am playing! ? 2) what did you you say to Keith when you handed his guitar back to him and he said "It's all good, man!" ? 3) did you play more than pool that night? (No you don't have to answer that one, LOL!)
He is saying "BROTHER!!" Australians speak with a completely different vowel and consonant sound than Americans do. He was not saying Rob. If you listen carefully, you can even hear that the word he is saying is a 2 syllables. This wasn't planned and saying so takes away from it. I bet he will remember this for the rest of his life. Getting to play lead guitar and Keith Urbans entire band joining in, amazing doesn't even begin to describe how awesome that would have been, but it's all I have at the moment. Rob, you were awesome!! God bless!!
@@KitForshee WoW!!! That is amazing! How many people have a "I got discovered" story as cool as that! Good for him! While I was watching it happen, I thought this kids dream just came true how lucky is he... Now, it's what he does. Awesome Story!
Keith Urban did a twitter question and answer session with Maren Morris a couple weeks afterwards, and he fielded a question "What's the craziest thing a fan has done on stage with you?" He mentioned about Rob not as a crazy incident but a crazy awesome thing because he was amazed at Rob's ability....but he did say then that it was not staged, there was no plan to bring Rob up, it was just one of those things that just happened to work out splendidly. So that should put to rest any arguments whether it was staged or not
Good interview. I think when the band is caught off guard when Rob begins playing a few licks i think as musician it came across not staged. Just my observation. Great Venue to shine for sure. Been there for a show.
Once Rob started playing, Keith waved away a crew member who was bringing a guitar he had asked for. I think Keith wasn't sure how it was going to go, and wanted a backup plan in case Rob sucked. I think he was shocked and pleased when Rob just jumped into the song. Serendipity is a wonderful thing! Loved how the rest of the band and tech people joined in (apparently everyone was on break) once they heard Rob and Keith rocking out.
My sister gave him the sharpie to make the sign when we were in line. We waited hours. Rob and Lex were very nice people.
So how long did it take you to realize that this was the guy you let borrow the pen?
Were you apprehensive at all like "I really hope this nice guy doesn't embarrass himself" or had he told you that he was good?
Did you see them after?
He was a great man who made me smile every time we spoke and he always made me laugh so hard when we were in a car together and he always said that we were friends and that he loved me too and he would never let anyone touch me because he would always tell me that I love you so much and that you are my heart and my soul and that you were always here for me when we needed each other and we would never ever forget each other and always love each other forever and ever I know that I love him very deeply and always will no matter what he is always and forever my heart and always do my best to be happy and not lose my temper but he got me in that mood by the way he was doing me and I think about him always love you too
what a story!
He CLEARLY says "Look at that, like a champ, come up here BROTHER."
Who can't hear?
lmao yeah tell me about it, first time i actually listened to that part 'properly' and he clearly says 'bother' haha how do people get 'rob' out of that? ....
@@krist8362 Well in this era of q-anon and space lasers starting forest fires, probably no limit to what people will believe.
He said come up here " 1:17 Bra" ... it's an Aussie term for Bro or brother
Keith definitely said "brother"

I live in Boston and was at this show stage right about 10 rows back. No way it was staged. It was a huge risk and it worked out.

@@KitForshee WoW!!! That is amazing! How many people have a "I got discovered" story as cool as that! Good for him! While I was watching it happen, I thought this kids dream just came true how lucky is he... Now, it's what he does. Awesome Story!
He said come on up here brother!!!!!!!!!!!!
It wasn't staged. This boy can play. Blew Urbana mind I don't think urban thought he was that good at first
I freaking loved it!
The word was Brother
he said come up here brother
Keith said, " C'mon up here brah"
Keith Urban did a twitter question and answer session with Maren Morris a couple weeks afterwards, and he fielded a question "What's the craziest thing a fan has done on stage with you?" He mentioned about Rob not as a crazy incident but a crazy awesome thing because he was amazed at Rob's ability....but he did say then that it was not staged, there was no plan to bring Rob up, it was just one of those things that just happened to work out splendidly. So that should put to rest any arguments whether it was staged or not
Get on up here brotha
Dude played a super cool thing. It was Keith’s rig though and it was f’ing good. I love a spanking tele tone. Nothing like it.
He seems like a nice guy, I hope he gets more than this 15 minutes of fame.
He has some mentors taking care of him... like Ben Miller - ruclips.net/channel/UCrqw3AKEgall0fIBlEsWOTQ
he said come on up here brother
get him to play it now in the interview
He said "Get on up here BROTHER"
Keith says "come on up here brah"
Ya. He says "get on up here brother." Which makes sense, because near the end Keith calls him brother again.
He said "come up here brotha"
The comment about like a champ was how fast he jump on stage without help.
"come up here brother"
