I don’t get the hate for the Online. It’s a clever way of doing it, as you can play with others whilst still making your own progress. If people were physically there, you’d very likely be forced to use the host’s save file and not be able to progress your own save file unless you get people in your lobby
I'm shocked that he doesn't like Odyssey! He's the first person I've seen that doesn't like the game but I can't think of any reason as to why he wouldn't like it cause it's such an amazing enjoyable game

I don't like Yoshis being invincible. I understand that they didn't want Yoshis to get small when they are hit, so you can always ride him and etc, but they could have given them 3 hearts as their hp like in many of the Yoshi games.
@Mac14329 I wanted to play as them to use their abilities and vary my gameplay experience, but now that they are invincible, I won't. Also there is Nabbit for baby mode.

They're supposed to be there for first-timers of players who just want a chill experience. If you want to play as Yoshi, then play as Yoshi. Literally nothing is stopping you. Or hell, if you want that hair-pulling challenge you're desperate for, then you can always replay the stage as Yoshi afterwards.

I lost all interest after the direct when I was excited for it before. The reason, I think, is that it looks slow, floaty, and based on picture book like reveals... more like a Kirby game than the acrobatic and bouncy platforming that defines classic 2D Mario games.
I was wondering why they had the shadow players when you’re playing online with friends too but my best guess is that it’s to cut down on player contact to avoid the same performance issues Mario Maker 2 had. Then again 3D World’s online play wasn’t terrible so idk how they still haven’t figured it out for the 2D games. But it is cool you can seemingly just be in an open world with friends where you can all do separate levels and see each other in passing if you want
So excited for it!! I've been so sick of the souless New Super Shit series, but this game is EVERYTHING I wanted from a new 2D Mario. I wanted a new art style, unique themes, unique enemies and everything like that. I've been preaching for a game like this and I'm so happy we finally have it.

I'll say one good thing about NSMB. The DS is straight fire. It's the most unique and interesting one in the whole NSMB series. But after Wii, everything became soulless.

I can relate. I don't like Odyssey either. (The UI is terrible, I hate Cappy and possessing the enemies, there is no lifes).
I get the rest of it but why Cappy and possessing enemies? That was one of the best parts of Odyssey personally.
