Guess the younger generation don't want to be OTR truck drivers 😮
NA this so they can find cheaper truck drivers because theres no shortage just in pay i do enough work for 4 walmart or company drivers take to do in same week but thats only when im at 4+$ a mile Fuck those 2-3$ anything under 4$ for Flatbed is robbery not to mention just spent over 5k on just brakes and tires for my trailer only more fixes to truck but point is cost of everything went through the roof and alot still not trying to pay man putting me on to a company that is paying 600$ for 60 miles light 20k ib loads i been doing heavy cattle and feed at 6$ a mile season started 1 month ago busy 6 days a week
Smart generation. I swear if I could turn back the clock I would avoid trucking no joke
In 21 at 21, I did otr till 23, and left for a private company close to home
Far more better and a blessed job that was received praise christ
Drivers are disposable in trucking too many apply and too many fight for loads
They heard "no phones" and ran like children
If there was a truck driver shortage, there would be an ever-increasing backlog of freight needing to be delivered, and spot freight rates would keep rising week after week until the 'shortage' is alleviated. This has never happenned. There never has been a truck driver shortage.
Logic rules.
30,k drivers when roadway closed
24 k drivers when fed ex and ups laid off this spring.
No shortage just manulipators.
All so they can justify their lies.....
While ignoring reality..... so they can alienate the drivers they have.
Long hours no detention low pay.
Big box churn....
This is the ATA trying to keep salaries low.
Very true seems to me companys want young drivers that they can pay less cuz older experience drivers know there worth and chances they want take .30 cpm compared to a older driver that probably wouldn't do it for less then .60 cpm
There is no trucker shortage the brokers and companies use this to pay cheap rate and cheap freight
Agreed
Not only that, they expect you to do things like uploading 3rd party apps and penalize you for late deliveries despite obstacles like breakdowns, traffic, and construction. And they charge you despite the fact that you're following fmcsa rules.
More cheap labor, More accidents
Cheaper accidents too.
Actually the complete opposite
NO SUCH THING AS TRUCKERS SHORTAGE. WE ALL NEED TO FIGHT AGAINST THAR LIE....FR FR
Yes there IS !! Lack of drivers willing to work for .07cpm !!!
There is no shortage … the job sucks!
When people say they want to drive a truck I always tell them NO! I tell them how bad the job sucks how long you will be gone and what is required to do it. If you don’t drive local, you will go loco
@kevinkevin6806 2 million miles, and 2 million dollars later . Every else made the money.... EVERYONE ELSE!!
@@kevinkevin6806 im going to school with a company next month. every video i've watched and truckers telling stories, i feel like this is a perfect job for me. i have no kids or gf/wife, i currently live with my mom and only pay 400 for rent, my only hobby is being online, and all my friends are online too. obviously i won't know if i like it until i do it, but dont tell people not to do something just because you dont like it.
They'll go to the ends of the Earh to keep freight rates down.
Not agreeing or disagreeing with anything you’re saying but what is the benefit to the government for having freight rates lower?
@@Daniel-oy8ic It's like over burdensome regulations, it squashes the little guy in favor of big corporate trucking companies that can deal with lower rates for longer. The Government wants a few big trucking companies to run all the freight. Like Union Bosses that control thousands of workers a few big companies are easier to control and deal with.
I don't trust an 18 yr old to drive a lawn mower much less a big rig , not from gen z.
They just keep saying driver shortage in order to give excuse for the foreign driver slave labor they are rolling out. Gov is into the slave labor business. This is a shakedown of the American persons.
Never had a trucker shortage. What we have is a rate shortage. Shut down my 2 truck company today...
Keep your trucks and sign on with a company for freight. I've heard landstar is not great right now.
@@todayslist37737all my ppl are at landstar and are doing just fine
The best decision is just not starting as truck driver now.Kids stay away from this government owned toilet!Stay in school
im using trucking as a way to GO TO school lol
You do realize most schools ARE government owned toilets, don’t you?
FK TRUCKING @@Zenikai_
FMCSA needs to get on a truck for a month so they can see all of the bull s*** that there is on trucking. Maybe they will understand than what it's all about.
It's really not how 'old' a driver is. It is how long that person has been driving. Managing a vehicle is far more complicated than taking orders, or holding a rifle. Truck drivers must make independent decisions that are based primarily on their experience with a vehicle. Most younger people do not have this experience, AND many 'foreign-born' drivers also do not have this experience. The truck stop is a good place to see inexperienced drivers make silly mistakes that do not cost lives, but sure mess up your truck. Let all drivers get at least 5 years of driving a car before putting them in an 80,000 pound tank.
There is a pay shortage
I’ve quit, fuck the shortage and trucking! All these shitty rules and regulations they keep putting on us. I’m done. Started at age 19. Did it for 6 years and now gave up on it. I’m 25 now. Looking into another career.
Good luck dude 💪🏽
@@javierherrera2966 Thank you bro! 😊 Wish you the same!
Look into a trades career welding, electrical etc I wish when I would have chosen a different profession when I started out 24 yrs ago,my body Is beat all to hell and I've missed out on so much
Look into plumbing. Great career, great pay.
Next week is my last week in the truck brother started at 18 , 24 now going into another career positive that I probably won't get back in another semi.
Being out on the road driving a tractor and trailer is dangerous enough. They don't need to be out here.
Truck driving is Not the first job people want it's the Last Option!!!
All us us with a functioning brain have always said there is no shortage. There's just a shortage of drivers willing to haul for $1 per mile. The government has flooded the industry with foreign drivers that will haul for less and less, that's bad enough.
Truck driver shortage my ass
Masterpiece 😂
FMCSA wants too put the new comer’s behind the wheel of cheap, cheap driving jobs…
They are worried about everything but problem that actually exists.
Never Forget … it’s all about safety❗️😂😂😂
Can you imagine the insurance rates on them?
Just jack up everyone’s rates to subsidize it
Exactly. Insurance for a 65 year old is around $5,000 per year. For a 20 year old, it's around $60,000 per year. Plus, anyone under 25 cannot ever have had an accident or ticket from the day they began driving a car. If they did, they won't be insured
@@PollyPurreethat is so far from true. It’s almost like you just made that up in your head completely
😂
@@Daniel-oy8ic Wrong. I was told that by several terminal managers. Nobody wants to hire children because it isn't profitable
If teens can't drive a car safely, then what makes the FMCSA think that they'll drive a commercial vehicle safely, hmmmmmm 🤔🧐💭🧐!?!?!?!
Try to pay more !!!!! Let's start there !!!!
Stop all the lies they tell to the drivers!!!
Shouldn't any drivers be sitting in a truck and not bring home at least 2k a week minimum smh it's drivers out there making under 1k a week
Naw F trucking I been looking for something else I just started back and it's worst then it was a year ago. I'm going back to home improvement right now
Yes, 2k after withholdings
First off it's barely enough space for us truckers at truck stops
I really doubt that there's a
SHORTAGE !??
Never was one
There’s no space for people period. Every year we take in one million legal immigrants, over 100,000 permanent refugees, millions of guest workers, and several million illegal immigrants. Some areas are running out of water, other areas don’t have enough housing, there’s massive traffic problems in places. We have too much population increase. Americans barely replace themselves child wise but we have the population going up 3% every year due to immigration. Think about it. In ten years 30% more people. Now it’s even more under Biden.
Trucker shortage? This must be a fkng joke… everyday I see more “drivers” of all ages that shouldn’t be allowed to drive.
A real bad idea !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only trucker shortage is cheap labor shortage, if a driver was paid his worth, wonder what it would be like
The moment those 18-21yr Olds realize all you do is visit the back of warehouse in every state and that's all the time you have is the moment they quit lol!! My son wanted to drive a truck I told him do something else he said aint that bad so he came with me 1 week and hated it loved it but said yeah I can't do this everyday let alone be gone for a mo th at a time dad lol
Hey, Alex. I watch Jesse waters on fox today and he bring up a really good situation. You need to look into reason why we're not in recession. Because truck driving jobs have went to all foreigners. They've cut the Americans out. So the job shortage shows. There's no shortage that these foreigner truck drivers are taking over the American truck driving jobs.
Alex talk about how crazy insurance is now. People are buying trucks then worrying about insurance later. It’s not like it used to be. I would love to see a segment on just insurance increases. I’m hearing 35-50,000 for the first year.
They old enough to go with a qualified trainer. But they would be wasting their youth over the road. That would be the true loss.
whats so good about youth? the only thing i can think of is having an able body. which is what's needed for any physical job. relationships can wait, partying can wait. set a good foundation and you can get the other stuff later.
@@Zenikai_
Relationships literally cant wait😂. Smaller dating market, increased autism rates after 35, etc.
@@timexcape7961 😶what's wrong with autism and a smaller dating pool?
Mega carriers are a big scam
I literally took 3 drug test through orientation and the people at concentra asked who I was taking the drug test for
I stay in the hotel for 5 days waiting on drug screens and came back all clear they didn't call me just sent a message through the app
When they sent me home stood all night at the bus stop
They gave me a dirty truck and I have proof of all of this
The other company paid me 431
When I made 1720. and some change
It's not that no one wants to work over the road
These companies play a lot with people and then act like we're the problem..
I had so much happen and I was called the star driver of the quarter and treated poorly
18 to 20 year old kids all think they're getting rich investing, drop shipping or becoming a social media star.
Not a good idea
Oh remember SAFETY FIRST!!!
The company i work for has this and they took all the regional runs and are home every night.
Other thing that no one talks about is how many people actually hold a CDL versus how many drivers are actively driving period. Most of the holders don’t drive a truck anymore because they don’t see the money in it and it’s not worth it. That shows you that enough people have a licenseto do it but yet the market conditions and the way the pay is structured does not equate to what it did in the 1980s adjusted for inflation. That does not make any sense in this economy
If there's a shortage, why is there less parking? Exactly! No shortage.
There was a shortage at one point, maybe about 10-15 yrs ago, that’s around the time I got on board, and between all the retirees, the thousands of drivers training, and the revolving door, it was absolutely a shortage. Now I think what has happened, there are more foreigners and migrants that came in and are successfully getting a big portion of the market.
It's all BS
I was driving a truck for a living when i was 18. I wasnt ready to go that far away when i was that age
How could insurance cover this but won’t cover some other drivers unless they have 2 years experience? This government is corrupt to the core.
I really wish there were a bigger focus on the economic impact of DEF systems and added cost / pressure is put on our supply chain by them. Trucker shortage is a non-issue in my opinion.
What's insurance going to cost. $$$'
Essentially your freedom 😅
If i was this generation i wouldn't want to drive trucks either. It used to be a good industry to get into. This day and time its not worth it.
🙄 that’s so unsafe! They can’t even Lee their face out their phone
who's LEE?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Alex when I was training and they would hire these people. All they talked about was the money what I told him they had to do to make that kind of money. They got mad and went talk to the supervisor and then they look at us and I told him, you’ll have to work for that kind of money didn’t wanna do that💯😎🚛
Should be atleast 25 to drive in my opinion…
If there was a driver shortage, product would not be moving, and with countless more truckstops than ever, there would be more parking available. The only 'shortage' is pay ! And that includes rates, and driver !
Hell make it 16 BIG TRUCKER SHORTAGE pay them 9 cents a mile too cheap labor
Look I’m a trucker 🤳 wow I’m in a ditch
😂😂😂
There are additional requirements for people entering the military, which are not required of CDL drivers. There is a psychological evaluation by a psychologist/psychiatrist that one must pass. Plus if one has been arrested, no matter if the court dismissed the case, one would not be accepted, at least into the US Air Force.
Those requirements are not part of becomg a CDL driver.
Perhaps people are making a blanket statement that if a young person can go to war, they should be able to drive a CDL required vehicle on interstate. What about the young person who failed a psych eval? I note that there is no psych eval for most drivers.
Military psych eval. Do you believe in God? Have you seen God? Do you think your God? Pretty much the evaluation. Worthless as an ash tray on a motorcycle.
Silly FMCSA. Don't they know that truck manufacturers and truck drivers ( forgot to mention the customers/clients) are what made truckin', truckin'?
Alex !!!
What’s the word on that short video?
Where the cop left the disabled vehicle had to dodge the disabled car!
Bro I was in south Florida today and got fuel at the 595 truck stop near doral
As a driver of 20 plus years this wouldn't have been a good idea I believe there would've been more accidents
It was beautiful sunny in San Diego during the eclipse 😁🇨🇱🤘
I'm a grown ass man and it's hard for me to wrap my mind around all these rules as a truck driver that feel like I don't have freedom I feel like I'm in prison and I'm a veteran
They failed to mention that no one will insure them!
I couldn't imagine the cost to insure an 18 year old interstate truck driver.
Anyone who's trucking in 2024, well God bless you 🙏
18 year olds in the military are supervised by sergeants, squad leaders and officers, and while truck drivers have to be sufficiently responsible to take care of them selfs and make the correct decisions while being unsupervised.. so its a whole different ball game
We haven’t figured out how not to unalive each other for thousands of years. Government has no hope to finding a workable solution to the transportation industry(trucking that is) they don’t even have an infrastructure in place nationwide for parking. It’s disgraceful. We love to toot our horns yay USA were the best of the best!! Are we really? I think we can do far better. I’m not even going to start with politicians. A bunch of academics used car salesmen.
No shortage of truckers just shortage of Finance$$
Pay shortage. Insurance rates up from more costly accidents. Govt pays some of these claims as well (something like the Baltimore bridge incident but with trucks). They want to put all the liability on the driver with pay that is less than it has ever been before in the industry.
I’m so sick of these underhanded methods to try and find ways to pay drivers less. That’s all this is. Pay drivers more and there will never be a problem!
I saw a post abt OOIDA saying trucking training needing to be more stringent... Yea, all we need is more less educated drivers- why not?!
stringent means to be stricter. aka the current schooling isnt good enough. it's right on google my guy.
@MrAwsome1016 it was a joke, bc they're wanting to bring in less educated/younger ppl...
It depends on the driver. No shortage of drivers megga carriers are the problem
I think the whole trucker shortage news crew may have been referring to the coronavirus stage of trucking. I don’t know why there would be a shortage because that’s about the time I got my CDL, and it was the best time to be on the road because there was absolutely nobody. I totally agree, I guess the first ones to call out, the BS of a” lack of truckers” would be the truckers themselves.
Won't happen. The insurance companies won't allow it. The insurance would be so high that it would be unprofitable
Time to tell them what the issues are: Shotage of rates and over regulation. That is why many truck companies are closing and good drivers are opting to stay local or retire.
They are very good at placing their feet on our necks but very reluctant to assist.
Regulate the brokers. Make it easy for O/O to get compensated fairly. Why does it take so long to get that done but rules to regulate take no time at all.
If there was a trucker shortage rates would be much higher. Simple supply and demand.
I’m 25 now and I feel that 18-20 year old should be able to drive!!!! These companies hire foreign drivers that can’t even speak English and I young folks really don’t want to drive anyway because all these other jobs damn near pay what truckers make and there home every night.
I’m with it.
I got my license for this same reason. Then they killed all the rates!. Things are getting worst
Where is the truck driver shortage. It's like the solar eclipse. I don't see it...
*I'M 70 YEARS OLD, NEVER WAS A TRUCKER, WAS GIVEN PLENTY OF RIDES BY TRUCKERS IN MY MUCH YOUNGER DAYS*
*I SAY HELL NO ABOUT 18-20 YEAR OLDS DRIVING ACROSS STATE LINES, NOT EVEN STATE WIDE, THEY SHOULD GET AT LEAST 5-10 YEARS EXPERIENCE DRIVING IN CITIES, FIRST*
✔️ it out Alex,
Addicts are on a small Leach got it....
Them youngsters not thinking about driving trucks they to busy being on tiktok thinking about girls 😂😂😂 I know I was back in my days
😅😅
Maybe the big carriers worry about insurance cost, not safety.
Would insurance companies cover 18 year olds? How much extra would they charge?
If it’s a trucker shortage then that means drivers would be and should be getting paid more being that you don’t have that many drivers to move the freight throughout America I smell bull 💩
Hey mutha trucker,... the way that the government is going we are looking at being canceled.,but I will say as I always say... O.T.R. need to be reclassified to a civil worker ..im trying to get this idea out but I would need help on this...
FJB!
More then 50k truck driver sit at truck stop bc off eld !
Need better pay
Of course the trucker shortage wasn't true because I can't find a damn parking spot anywhere
I’ve known some younger people who were interested in trucking and most of the time they end up behind the wheel once they are eligible to do so! But honestly the freight demand isn’t there to push this narrative
The Trucker shortage was true. But it was relatively true, based on the economic circumstances of the time because the market is so dynamic and because it changes so much you you have different needs a different times. I think we should go back to win. The unions ran everything and when the government had to approve authorities, there’s some things that must be regulated in the right ways and we’re wearing too much about drive time and not about hiring good drivers because if you had good drivers, then you wouldn’t have to worry about drive time. If you had good companies running the freight, then you would not have to worry about them, pressuring the drivers because the drivers could just say they’re too tired and be legally protected at their jobs.
I think it is great to get young america citizens driving even if they dont stick with driving they have gained a skill better than playing video games. And safer than non english speakers/readers driving.
They are expected to neutralize an “enemy” in the military not to possibly neutralize people on the road.
If there was a truck shortage people wouldn't be sitting around waiting on Loads the truck stops wouldn't be full by 7pm 😂
their the smart ones not wantting to drive not worth all the bullshit we deal with and less pay .make more working at mc ds
I went to the mall Sunday. Half the storess were closed and empty. The mall had very few people. People are just buying the basics or buying online. Brick and mortar is pretty much dead in America. Americans are broke. The supply chain has changed. We now have a massive overage of trucks. Simply put there is more supply than demand. This brings about competition for what demand there is. Its not a drivers fault for wanting my or your job. When a shipper request bids on a load and brokers bid 2 bucks a mile because they know drivers will haul it for less then who is really at fault. The same people complaining about rates. Because they are the ones hauling the freight that cheap.
Every day companies kick off a lot of drivers because of stupid government and low prices.
They want to make 5million bucks insurance and that is the way
After that fmcsa should be responsible for every reckless thing that gonna happen on the roads. And for all deaths
is that the mad tv guy on your pfp?
@@Zenikai_ yes cause it looks like caricature of me
I think a small element is Cannibis legalization. Once they figure out they can't. And the industry is super serious. They say nope!
The carriers care about Safety!
Insurance. How much more because of the 18/20 crowd?
They should be allowed to go to adjust state or go 100 miles from state line
