    Thank you for your suggestion. It‘s true, it could be danced with Minuet steps, indeed. BUT: There is no indication in the source like „to be danced with Minuet steps“ thus as for other Longways Minuets in the Playford collections. And: Having read Lorin‘s preface to his collection of „Contre Dance“ where he describes the step practices in London in the later 1680ies the choice of the step material was obviously very arbitrary and up to everybody’s mood. That’s why he decided to give these dances a French order by trying to publish them with his academically meticulous step instructions. Our conclusion from all that: as long as not explicitly required by Playford, the choice of steps in the Country Dances is very free. At least in the 1690ies and still to the period where the success of Feuillet’s publications started to influence the way of dancing these dances even in England, at the beginning of the 18th century
