My best equitation round has to be a round I had in my competition season last year. It was my last show of the year and I was struggling to learn my course for my medals class. It took me at least 10 minutes to learn it flawlessly, but once I did, my horse and I flew across the course. Unfortunately, I was in a big eq class and there were riders with much more experience and expensive horses, but luckily, we placed 2nd out of 8 people, and I felt that this was one of my greatest shows.
I’m a jumper, but my trainer is making me do an equation class with my jumper this weekend since my hunter is off atm so I’m just binge watching these videos
Thank you for making this video this will help me with definitely with my showing . I will watch this video ever time before my equation course like in the car before I get to the show. 😍

I did jumpers with my QH and we just switched to hunters and got a 78 on our first derby round! We won the low adult class and got tenth in the derby! (I messed up and had a refusal but still so happy!!) Could I send video for you to see what could be done different?
I am going to be Jumping this year in EQ so this is very helpful! Equitation is my strongest skill but my horse is pretty slow. Will the four stride in a line get you more points then a five stride? I just don’t know if she will be able to do the four, but she can do the add stride.❤️🐴
Congratulations on showing this summer. Great question! 4 stride vs 5 stride. 🐴 Well... ... ... the short answer is if it is a 4 stride line then you should do the 4 strides. depending on the type of show and class you are in then there may be some leeway. If you are at a championship level competition, with many seasoned competitors * adding a stride in a 4 stride line will cost you a placing.* *_HOWEVER,_* if you are at a local, regional or training show in a green, novice or first year class, adding a stride may be the correct thing to do. *_The important thing is to ride your horse forward, get to your jumps safely and correctly and be consistent throughout the round_* . Make sure as well, that you know and understand the distances between the jumps.
