    OK, I have Koss Porta Pro Bt and Sony SBH60. Sorry, but Sony are not even close to Koss sound quality. Not linear, boomie, narrow scene, low bass is not present, mids are quiet and highs are very very bright. And I will not even talk about comfort because there is nothing to talk about. Porta Pro are light and not present on your head, SBH60 are heavy with a center of mass way outside. I prefer to live with Koss mods and be happy with great sounding headphones

    Koss Porta Pro bluetooth are my second ever pair of Bluetooth headphones. My previous pair were JBL BTNC something and were about £150rrp. These are half the price, about a tenth of the weight and size and I actually prefer the sound quality of the Pros. If you take away the padding and design of the big chunky headphones, fact is that all of them have very similar speaker size as the Pros. What boggles my mind is how such a tiny battery provides such an enormous amount of great sound and 15+ hours of playtime at loud volume.

    Hi. I'm using wired version for running and they are excellent. Could you list other BT open or onear headphones that plays equal or better (except Sony SBH60 of course)? Thx

    I've used Koss Porta Pro EVERY SINGLE DAY since like 2003 😅 I love these headphones! They are super comfortable (you forget that you have them on your head all the time), the sound quality is ok and the bass is good for its size. The cord breaks quite easily though.
    I wouldn't buy the bluetooth version. Mainly because of those dangling things, but also because I absolutely HATE bluetooth overall.
    I've actually refrained from buying a new phone because they don't include a 3.5mm headphone jack, so I wouldn't be able to use my headphones anymore 😕

    • @fitey15
      @fitey15 Год назад

      yeah I love these headphones, but I went through 4 pairs because the cord was so short and would get jerked/caught all the time. I finally got the wireless because I'd just broken so many - I was worried that the BT would sacrifice the (imo) amazing sound quality of these headphones but I don't notice any difference. Personally, I'd highly recommend these headphones to anyone, I think they're fantastic - but try before you buy if possible.

      @@fitey15 I actually bought these yesterday anyway 😅 I liked them more than I thought I'd do 🙂 The battery and the volume controller wasn't that much in the way.

    How do the bluetooth porta pros sound compared to the wired version?
    The wired version are amazing sounding

    • @hmuller
      @hmuller  Год назад +2

      Edit: I just checked and they do sport aptx codec for higher bluetooth bitrate.
      I will check that out and see if there are any codec difference.
      Edit 2: I am also considering making two year long term review of theese and compare them to the wired version as well. Let me know if there is anything you would like me to look furhter into.
      I haven't had the chance to test them side by side but for why I have read and seen in comment about people who have, the wierd ones actually does sound pretty amazing, both for its price and audio quality in general.
      I think if koss redid its design for the wireless porta pro, and added the newest Bluetooth version as well as ldac or aptx at this pricepoint it would truly be a lot more worth its money.

      You just adjust them before putting them on your head. Make a mark on how far you need to set them, go to that mark, put them on. Also if you only use it at home, just tape the headband.

      Porta pro are bass focused KSC75 are treble focused. If you mainly listen to acoustic and classical go KSC75 if you mainly listen to electronic/hip hop or music mixed pre 2000 go porta pro.

  • @stevenwymor1398

    You're using these in a way they were never designed or intended to be used. You should be using earbuds if you're running. All the "failures" or shortcomings are the result of improper use. And I defy you to find any headphone made anywhere at any time that isn't made of plastic. I have a pair of the very first stereo headphones ever made, the Koss SP/3, and guess what? Yeah, they're made with plastic.

    • @hmuller
      @hmuller  2 года назад

      Well I agree on most of your points but hair getting stuck while adjusting is still a bit annoying.
      The plasticky feeling comes more from the thinness of the construction how delicate it feels. I have experienced dropping the wired version on the ground and it breaking just of that one incident.

    • @stevenwymor1398
      @stevenwymor1398 2 года назад +1

      @@hmuller I've owned Porta Pros since about 1985 when we used them to upgrade our Sony Walkmans when I was in college. They hold up unless you treat your stuff like shit. The wired version has a lifetime warranty. The wireless doesn't only because of the electronics and because batteries degrade. If Koss thought they were so delicate, they definitely wouldn't give you a lifetime warranty. You really are completely mistaken about the build quality. And I've never gotten my hair caught in the headband. My hair is shorter now, but I regularly had it in a ponytail for years. Not a single incident in that time. I think it's a myth that people's hair is constantly getting tangled in Porta Pros. If that were the case, they wouldn't have kept the same design for the past 38 years.

    • @hmuller
      @hmuller  2 года назад

      @@stevenwymor1398 Having an accident like dropping headphones on the ground doesn't necessarily translate into treating stuff like shit. I can assure you that hair getting caught in it really not a myth after been using both the wired and wireless version for 15 years.
      But it all boils down to personal preference and I still use the wireless version for running, as hearing though the headset is quite easy.
      Koss probably had some very tough design desitions when making the wireless version, but still, in my opinon, from a modern day look at it (excluding the running-part), you buy this for either the looks(edit typo) or nostalgia.

    • @stevenwymor1398
      @stevenwymor1398 2 года назад +1

      @@hmuller you buy it for nostalgia? Really? This has got to be one of the most arrogant and ignorant comments I’ve ever heard in the world of audio reviews. You buy it for the sound quality. I’m an audiophile and have been since I was about 15, or 42 years. I own some very expensive headphones including Stax SRX-III electrostats and Sennheiser HD600 dynamics. Plus I’ve owned over a hundred different pairs of cans over the years. I still own four pairs of the the Porta Pros because they can hold their own against all of them, especially given the price. No one is buying these for nostalgia except for people who wear headphones as a fashion accessory. I’m not the first to sing their audio praises and I won’t be the last. They’ve been getting five star reviews since they first appeared in 1984 and even daily on Amazon with an average rating of 4.7 stars out of 5 from 13,235 reviews. So the math and I both disagree with your assessment. Thousands upon thousands of headphones have come and gone since the Porta Pros were first released and yet, they’re still here, unchanged. That success can’t be denied and it can’t be attributed simply to nostalgia.
