if this guy was singing about chicks and whiskey he'd be packing out stadiums!instead he plays relatively humble venues and still blows people away. in my opinion best guitarist EVER to walk this earth.
You feel like you know Phil just by listening to his music. True passion and talent from a man who is humble enough to serve the king of kings and lord of lords.
Hello everyone! Thank you for the kind words. This clip came from a school project at MTSU (Middle Tennessee State University). We were tasked with orchestrating a live concert with Phil and I directed and was one of many editors on the final DVD. Unfortunately, at this moment the DVD is only for the students, faculty, and Phil. I wish that Phil would distribute it because as you know he is an amazing musician. Again, thanks for watching and for the kind words.
I dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know of a way to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly forgot the login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Edison Payton i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and Im trying it out now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I was always dreaming of becoming popular musically. Now I understand why god has given people such talents. Only to praise him. This man could have been more popular but he chose the path of The Lord and this is the result when you give your heart to god. I also want to become a part of The Salvation Army band.
@ Dijo Paulson; so brother did you "join the band" yet? I used to pastor a church in Belgium and especially amongst some of the guys we used to refer to ourselves as Band of brothers like the HBO show based on the WWII Easy company, it was great, and everyone of us could have sung this song with sincerity.
'God' has absolutely nothing to do with it... it's Keaggy putting in the work and spending hours, days, weeks, months, and years playing and practicing. Dragging your non-existent god into it is an insult...
@alskjdfsldkjf , dear @alskjdfssldkjf, your name says it all! Just as you put no thought into it, just a jumble of random keystrokes, your universe came into being by random collisions>>primordial slime>>lightning bolt! >>amino acids>>...>>...>>LIFE!!>>apes>>Man!! Civilizations!! ETC. ETC, ALL WITH NO CAUSE, NO INTENT OF A DESIGNER! Man, I am in AWE of YOUR FAITH!! And you sly dog, you answer to no one for how you live your life!! Well, I have good news for you, there is a God, the Creator of all this, of you. He loved us all, but our ancestors spurned Him, they decided (like you) they would answer to no one. Romans 1:28 "And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper." But when the time was right, God sent His son Jesus, as a man, to die, to be punished for all of our rebellion, and to freely share His perfect standing before God with all who would turn to Him and believe. When Jesus was on Earth, teaching, He said "no man can come to me unless the Father draws him" (John 6:46). He drew me 48 years ago. He drew Phil Keaggy a few years before that. He's drawing you with His love now, to be restored to Him. To stop believing that "one in a trillion trillion trillion trillion...." actually happened to jumpstart the world, but rather that God designed it all for us, and when we totally blew it, He still had the love and the power to fix it. And you're right about Phil; when he discovered that God had given him nimble fingers, a sense of pitch, etc., he did have to "put in the work, hours, years"... and prayers, so that God's gifts could come full circle, doing the 'impossible", leaving us listeners in awe, demonstrating His awesome ability to make a surrendered life into something amazing. We're not "dragging God into it", He is at the very root of it all. I hope and pray that you can see this a little, and accept His gift. Prayers, Brian
Hands down the greatest live guitar performance I have ever seen....👏🔥✨🌟👌👍🙌😍😲...whaaaat... Phil Keaggy! What a legend. For all of you musicians out there you would definitely agree with me. And more importantly he does it for Jesus :-) Psalm 33:2-3 2 Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. 3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.
“Saved to serve” was mentioned in our service this morning! Phil has truly served for decades the love of Jesus! Holy Spirit just plays thru him the heavenly love song…come to Me all who was weary and receive His rest.
3:58 that first lick is straight from Clapton's first solo on Sunshine of Your Love. So cool the way he pays tribute and you can see his little smile because he knows not many are in on his own little inside joke. I love Phil.
I listened to "This Time Through" and then played this song and his voice stood out so much. Unchanged and still can hit the notes. Then I watched his hands and was even more amazed.
The people who didn't like this probably don't like Phil's Christian message, and that's Okay. I have known Phil as a friend since 1970 and I know he is a Christian first, and music is his livelihood. He wouldn't be bothered by the dislikes and it certainly wouldn't keep him up at night. I suspect the people who gave the thumbs down aren't guitarists or they would understand just how proficient Phil is. He truly is one of the best on the planet. He doesn't need defending and would probably just hope that there would be no negative comments to those who don't like his music. He's an honorable man. Stay positive!!!
mulemusic no? I’m a Christian and guitarist, but not a fan of this particular music. But I like some of his other pieces. He’s good, but nowhere near as skilled as performers like John Williams or Julian Bream. But they’re different guitar styles 💁🏻♀️
Phil is filled with The Holy Ghost so he lets Him play and sing through him which becomes something from Heaven demonstrating His glory for all you who were just wondering how he flawlessly does this. ❤️
Jimi Hendrix was interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine and has to his favorite guitar player that is you said there was as kid from upstate New York and Phil Keaggy that if he would stop playing his gospel music would be a millionaire Jesus has other plans than me I've loved his music for years God continue blessing you
@@Dzeroed after watching Phil Keaggy performance easy to see white Jimi Hendrix considered him one of his favorite his favorite guitar player is unparalleled diversity and in style is amazing
Just saw Phil live again last night. Simply amazing are the only words that come to mind. If you've never seen him live, keep an eye out for when he is close by. Certainly worth whatever the price of the ticket.
Seen him more than a half dozen times. The largest venue was packed. Standing room only left. He played for two hours straight then he realized that people started heading to the bathrooms and we needed a break. He played another hour after the intermission. It was awesome.
Praise God for the best gift you can ever receive...JESUS!! Our Lord and Savior!!! Thank God for accepting who you are and not who you think you need to be.
Whoo. Why have I not found this videos with Phil until now but better late than never. I have some of his old vinyl LP in my collection but this was amazing. One man band. Blessings to ya all
I have been following Phil since the early 70's and am so grateful to Father for Phil! The looped harmonies into the sins hole then playing the chorus at the end while singing is over the top amazing. The whole presentation is so distal that few, I think, even get the complexity and grasp Phil has! Love ya Phil!
I remember him, with others Larry, Barry, on Randy Stonehills album, "Edge of the world" They sang about when they all started this chrisian music." We where all so young" check it out!
Phil your amazing, apart from your exceptional musicianship, this song speaks loudly of Gods Grace not only to you, but to all who seek his righteousness to serve wherever, feel free to be covered with his Blessings wherever you serve. We have his power through his faith flowing to the faithful Gracefully. THANK YOU LORD JESUS.
Jimi Hendrix said on David Frost interview that Phil Keaggy was the best. I asked Keaggy had he heard that and he said yes but he hadn't seen the interview.
That story has also been told about Terry Kath and Billy Gibbons. One variation has Hendrix saying it on David Frost and another says it was the Dick Cavett Show. The truth is it probably never happened.
Colby thx for sharing this.. Phil is just amazing! I was in Texas for many years and was fortunate to see Phil over 5 times live.. I remember the first Time I saw this concert, without his complete band, and I was upset until I witnessed how phenomenal his acoustic/solo concert is!! I was lucky to see him and be exposed to him.. I feel fortunate as a musician to have been influenced by such a great person and great artist. His use of delay and looping is incredible. He is s guitar phenom yet humble and truly blessed and a great witness for the Lord.
Shooot! Ah, love Phil. I suspect the thumbs down are not hating the guitar playing, it's the words they can't stomach. I get it...but Phil's heart really shine's though in the videos you posted here. Thanks for this.

Slowjamguitar yes, of his style. But there are better classical guitarists, such as John Williams or Julian Bream

Phil Keaggy is undoubtably one of the best guitar players I've ever heard! He is also, and mostly, a gentle and humble person!

Good ear and good catch
MID-ROLL ADVERT, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SONG...BOGUS !!

Probably the best rendition of one of Phil Keaggy’s best songs!
A man who is truly blessed with unbelievable talent, and who has very few equals, in any genre of music.
