FYI there is no need to purchase a non functioning winch for this, I just did the same thing by just drilling a 1mm hole in the OEM bumper of my defender, just took the hinge off the original hook from the ski pass holder, threaded the string through the hole, and then retied the hook. just be careful not to lose the string in the holder
