I have to say this was one review that sold me on this. Other tech reviewers have focused on the power or mainly how it would suit them and not think about who it is targeted at. This would suit my wife's needs she is not bothered by all the bells and whistles she just wants her laptop to be compact and good for productivity. Thanks!
Yes, I'm buying one to replace an HP Envy laptop that has been an absolute piece of junk. Just because something looks premium and checks all the boxes, does not mean it is a good value.
Yeah, I kinda get tired with reviewers just running cinebench and encoding video and going "meh". Despite 99.99% of people never encoding a video ever.
Just picked one up today. I really like the laptop's size and screen aspect ratio. When reading reviews I see many pointing out that you can get 'more' laptop at the same price point ( mid-tier surface laptop go $699, high tier $799 USD ) , but I would rather have the smaller sized laptop with the 3:2 aspect ratio.
I agree. 12-13 inch laptop is good for people who need something really compact with desktop os, too bad a lot of manufacturers are abandoning 12-13 inch laptops in favor of 14-16 inch models.
Life long Mac user and still primarily use my iMac desktop but just purchased the surface go 2 for work on the road and some light gaming and I love it. Wonderful laptop.
It is very valuable your intro about the difference between surface devices, Thanks! You have a new fan here in Washington, D.C.I will get my Surface go 2 for Black Friday!
Totally agree, surface go devices seem enough for light weight tasks but using it with keyboard on lap is very uncomfortable, for every minor task also you need keyboard and then laptop form factor is a must, speaking from personal experience just upgraded to this from surface go 1st gen
Laptop Go 2 : 1536 x 1024 (148 PPI) 15.6" Laptop : 1920 x 1200 (145 PPI) The density of the pixels is measured in pixels per inch. PPI determines the physical size of each pixel. If both Laptop Go 2 and a 15.6" Laptop both roughly have 145 pixels per inch, does that mean if these two screens were to compared side by side, the FONT would be the same size on both displays? This is important for people who read lots of text and do word processing. Can you do a video to demonstrate this?
That's cool! I really love this one. No way on the price, that's weird - I've just doublechecked the invoice and we paid £566.10 for the 8GB version. We must have got a promotional discount or something, we bought direct from the Microsoft store. But thanks for the heads up!! We'll be sure to mention that in future videos. You are 100% right though, nobody should be working with 4GB of RAM these days, 8GB minimum!
This is such a great review! its so detailed and actually answered a lot of questions I had. This seems like such a decent laptop for the price. I wanted a decent laptop that wasn't too expensive but still did the things I need it to do that the ipad (with keyboard) couldn't. i have had enough of spending closer to a grand on a laptop that i will only be using for writing and submitting essays, surfing the web and enjoying some entertainment. I felt like continuing to buy macbooks was a waste as i could use my ipad for editing or creating posters ,etc. i just need a standard laptop that will do the minimum without too many sacrifices. Also....FINALLY USB TYPE A IS BACK! This seems like the laptop for me! so thank you for this review!
I just got one of these around $600 for the 8gb RAM/256gb model. I am very impressed. The form factor is great. The screen is really nice and the speakers sound impressive. This is a fantastic device for someone who just needs a laptop for relatively simple day to day tasks. Its easy to get swept up wanting better specs but plenty of basic users don't need a heavy duty laptop. The portability, lightness, and more compact size are a huge plus to me.
@@e.a6851 Because most people, like me, haven't used an Ethernet port on a laptop in 10 years or more. If you are using it like a desktop, you'll probably want a dock anyway.
Really last 8 hours? That's amazing because my pro 8 only lasts 5 hours (without keyboard but with a pen) max! Can you provide more details abouthow you use it?
Hi guys, I'm thinking about getting this laptop but I have some doubts like: is it good for college students? And does it overheat with some tabs open?
A bit. Yeah.. but you can go for it without any hesitation. Mine one is laptop go. It's capable of handling any sort of web development work. (Except machine learning staffs. You know)
8gb is a bit outdated.. yes. Also my computer still works fine with 8gb and win 10... I always have manymany tabs open, doing Office, CAD, Programming and Musicproduction-stuff.. What do you do?

You pay a premium for this form factor, but I learned long ago that that's OK because it's something you appreciate every time you use it.

You know what will be icing on cake, surface laptop go 2 2-1 or 360, imagine that mind blown🤯
You wont have to worry about storage if your always connected to wifi. You know the SSD is upgradeable, upgraded mine from 128 to 512GB

Really entertaining review, I’ve picked one up!
Just to say it’s £630 for an 8gb, £530 is the 4gb which hasn’t had good reviews.

The only annoying thing is the lack of Ethernet port
@@Oakland510 why did they decide to remove it?

Awesome, thank you! 🚀🚀🚀
i returned mine becouse of the touchpad wobble.. i heard about that it should not have it normaly
I found one in good condition on eBay for $143 should I buy it?
Are there maybe even more lightweight, 4:3, with no touch laptops? I am searching for the ultimate backpacking companion (windows)
Can It handle Adobe apps perfectly?
Is it suitable for programming?

What resolution is the Go 2 outputting at when connected to that external ?

Maybe it's just me, but I consider 16GB RAM to be a minimum these days. 8GB is only acceptable if you are running Linux or macos.

Can it handle basic video editing using Quik (GoPro)
Certainly. Especially with its Iris graphics, 1080p and 1440p will be great, 4k should also be alright if it's a small project.
Personally I'd rather just spend the extra $150-200 to get the Surface 4 with 16 GB of Ram, an i7 Intel processor, and an extra 256 GB of SSD
Extra 256gb of ram, damn, must be a NASA computer...
