Thanks for taking the time to share with folks the differences in the two guitars. I am 76 and have been playing for 60 yrs. I am blessed to own a real 1964 with a Bixby and original case. Over the years i have owned every brand name out there at some time. Still have a modest but diverse collection of solid, semi-hollow and holliw bodies. Im not a collector just an old player that appreciates vintage sound. There isnt enough money out there to get my 64' away from me. I'm an old man but i can still throw down. The 1964 P90's on my casino are the epitome of classic sound. Be blessed brother and may God bless you with as many years to play as i have been blessed with.
The older one def. has more punch and more of an immediate attack, hotter pickups. Surprised how nice and balanced the newer one sounds, maybe a bit more sweet sounding. But as you say, both have their place. I have two Casinos also, a recent olive green worn and an older MIC w/ a rosewood board. As with yours, mine sound very different and feel different…hard to say one’s better than the other, just different.
Great video. My main complaint with my 2021 MIC casino is the slim neck, and I don’t love the sunburst/black back/neck. Sounds like the new 2023 models might be worth it to swap mine out for.
Hey Lucas! Do you know if the old Version (prior to the June 2023 Version) is still being produced? Or did epiphone stop the production of them in order to make the new ones? Best whishes!
Great Review. I want to buy the same one. I have a little question. The Casino sounds very loud unplugged in your video. Is the guitar as loud as a Steel String (Jumbo or Dreadnaught) Thank you. Greetings from Germany. PS: Grande Argentina. Viva Messi. 😊
Hey there! The casino does sound loud doesn't it? I was surprised! I wouldn't say it's as loud as a steel string acoustic but it has a surprising amount of low end like a steel string would. Hope that helps! 👍
Try the Casino Coupe - it's smaller, slightly raspy, with a 21.8 fret cutaway, 22 frets - a bit cheaper than the Casino. A really cool imitation patent leather case came with the one that I bought when they first hit the market in August 2014. One of the first thing that I did was to remove the pickguard, and then pack it away as a souvenir.
Do you notice any difference in string tension? The Peerless got the neck joint at the 17th fret whereas the new one at the 16th fret like the vintage ones from the sixties
Nickel plating is a step up. I have a Casino Coupe but I’ve ended up changing most of its parts. The Chinese pickups all seem to be lackluster so I’ve ended up changing them in all three of my Chinese Epiphones. Usually Lollars. I really like the new Crestwood but I installed Lollar Firebirds in it. It’s now a completly different and better sounding instrument. The Casino you have sounds nicer than mine did. Epiphones have gotten much better over the last decade.
I noticed that yours also has the selector pin which in the central position creates vibrations which bothered me I went on 2 days before I understood that it was the selector, I thought it was some string whipping or some saddle vibrating at the in the end he was the selector who annoyed
I had similar acoustic buzzing. Took off the pick guard. It was not that. Inside lower f hole, either side there are two metal clips holding pickup wires. They are springy and vibrate. I bent them flat and buzzing gone. No idea why two metal clips are needed to hold cables! Just put your finger in the f hole and feel around. 😅
Are you able to play it before buying? If so, then have a go at it and see how you feel! Definitely check for any odd paint jobs, casino's from that point in time did tend to suffer from that.
i have a 90's Casino and love everything about it other than one thing at the nut its 40mm and just too narrow and tight which seems the same as yours, apparently some of the 60's Casino's were this tight also. i can't understand why they were made this way. Other guitarists who have played it say the same. i'm looking to buy a new model which i believe has 42.7mm nut
good video, what string gauge strings would you recommend for my soon-to-buy 2023 casino, I am a rhythm guitarist, and a few people have mentioned 10-48s what do you think
When they first made Guitars in China, the quality was very bad so that I didn’t buy any epiphone guitars. It gets better with craftsmen’s experience, and maybe some technical support from Gibson. I bought Casino made n China several years back as I knew the quality got good enough to buy, but I didn’t like the Sunburst finish on the back, I bought Natural finish. It is good that your Casino has great back painting.
Hola, Lucas!
I personally would be happy with the Casino, but thats because I lean more toward single coil type guitars. If you like humbuckers then 335 all the way
I have a 1964 Casino which is Made in Japan, and is is also written Kalamazoo, Michigan. You mean my Casino is made in two countries? USA and Japan. So, that means my Casino was the first batch that were made in USA. Casino Elitist was the second batch made in the USA. Therefore, I would say , my Casino should be more expensive than the Made in USA Elitists.
Very good video sound quality is excellent. I pefer the older one just a little but i will probably end up with the new model because of availability and be well pleased with it.
me gustan mucho los pickups gibson con cubierta de plástico de las primeras y también los pickups chinos de hace unos años que creo que tienen mas bobinado, Sinceramente no pagaría gran diferencia de precio por las series mas caras, la- standard china está muy bien
Hey, thank you so much for doing a comparison video between the older Casino VS the new 2023 version. You answered every question I was wondering about the major differences so well I literally ordered the new version right after I finished your video. The deeper neck set, fuller neck, nickel hardware and better looking burst finish was exactly the Casino I had been waiting for. And they finally got rid of those horrendous pau ferro fretboards, which is an absolute dealbreaker for me on any guitar. Excellent video!

New Epiphone 2023 (Unplugged tones): 4:41
Old Epiphone peerless 1997 (Unplugged tones): 5:36
New Epiphone 2023 (Clean tones): 6:29
Old Epiphone peerless 1997 (Unplugged tones): 11:26

I have the worn as well (and also the sunburst). The worn is a surprise. Truly unique sound. Such a great guitar.
Yea that was my assessment as well and I actually decided to spend a bit more and went for the 2023 version based on me playing more jazzy type stuff
Great video. My main complaint with my 2021 MIC casino is the slim neck, and I don’t love the sunburst/black back/neck. Sounds like the new 2023 models might be worth it to swap mine out for.
i had one ,20 something years ago. It had a natural finish, made in Korea. I want another, but i want a turquoise finish
Hey Lucas!

Hey!
I'm not too certain but I sure do hope they continue in this direction. I think these new casino's are better built and sound great!
@@Lucas_Arredondo Thank you anyways and i too think Epiphone heads in the right direction!
The buzz may be due to the bridge retention wire. You can secure the wire with clear nail polish. Best wishes.

Hey! I've not noticed any noticeable difference in string tension between either Casino's. Both feel pretty identical in that department.
Definitely has a nice acoustic sound the first one, sounds better not plugged in than the second one

The P90 on the old one appear to be bigger, I own the older model and ít´s my favorite guitar thank you for sharing
At 14:44 check the neck joints, the Korean ones are not vintage correct but are a bit nicer to play due to the upper fret access
I have a worn casino and it also has a vibration that I can not find. I do love the guitar.
I noticed that yours also has the selector pin which in the central position creates vibrations which bothered me I went on 2 days before I understood that it was the selector, I thought it was some string whipping or some saddle vibrating at the in the end he was the selector who annoyed
so do you solved the problem?
Or do you know how to solve it?

Hi, I have an opportunity for a 2005 Epiphone Casino, what do you think? Were they good or are the ones now better?

10-48 is the standard and I would agree that this is the best for a casino from personal experience!

I personally would be happy with the Casino, but thats because I lean more toward single coil type guitars. If you like humbuckers then 335 all the way

Pienso que deberias quedarte con la casino del 97 en sunburst y la casino 2023 en natural.

Yes the newer ones are good! The MIK peerless casino's can be pretty expensive and I don't think it's all that different than the newer 2023 Casino's.
DeOxyit pot spray ndd on yer Peerless! It'll take care of the scratch tone!
I live the 2023, it has an all around better tone. Plugged and unplugged.

Some other RUclips reviewers replaced all electronics. Didn't you feel the need?
@@twelthstring Not at all! I can see the pickups being replaced maybe further down the line but all other electronics seemed perfectly fine to me.
C or D shaped neck?
C shaped
I am not sure why but I just can't stand the look of Pau Ferro boards.
That’s not Pau Ferro, that’s Indian Laurel
