    RIP Shelly, a childhood staple. EASILY could have gotten an oscar nod twice in 1980: Popeye and the Shining!❤

    • @daniellewillis2767
      @daniellewillis2767 2 месяца назад +4

      Robert Altman's Popeye was so grotesque and nightmarish my head canon just KNOWS it exists as the one brightly coloured section of the Eraserhead universe. You can totally picture Olive Oyl and the Radiator Lady being college roommates in that world....and there is no way Popeye didn't knock up poor Henry's girlfriend some afternoon when poor Henry was off working at the pencil factory....

    • @daniellewillis2767

      Also, 100% scarier than the Shining.

      Isn't that debunked by now ? I think this whole myth is based on the role she played.. Because she's doing such a good job acting , people forgot she's an actress, and assumed she's really this shy and awkward woman who couldn't handle the movie. It's actually quite a compliment on her acting skills.

    Thank you so much for saying what you did about directors being able to get a great performance out of their actors without being brutal or abusive. I think too often as a culture we give a pass to “genius” - particularly to men - without acknowledging the very real trauma often left in the wake of pursuing that genius. I also appreciate you saying that rape revenge films are not your thing. I’m a horror fan but I’m often conflicted about the genre and how it treats women and women’s bodies in a lot of films.

    I liked every movie on this list that I have seen. The Shining ~ what's not to love? Arcadian was a nice surprise for me. Mr. Cage was great as always and managed to break my heart and the two sons were well portrayed by the 2 young actors. Caveat ~ Yikes. And Revenge. Yes, there is the r4pe which was reason enough for her to seek some revenge, but then the party not involved in any way, followed it up with a bone-crushing betrayal by just treating her like a no-account sub-human that he could buy off like a piece of meat. And then of course there was attempting to kill her when she did not jump for joy over being bought off and leaving her for dead. It was all that together that caused her to become the Goodess of Vengance, And her survival and revenge is one of the best survival revenge movies. I will now proceed to check out the ones I have not seen. For some reason, I turned off What Josiah Saw and did not return to it. Upon your recommendation I will give it another go, Thanks for lovely, brutal line up KB 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
