I've seen my regular golfing buddy hit it about 420 twice on a downwind par 5 with a hard, dry fairway. Second time had a little cart path help, though.
@ryanlynch290 stop the cap! If you can drive it over 450 yards you’d be in long driving competitions and winning them. At least make it believable by saying 300 or 350 lmao by 457 yards hahaha
I have hit over 400 several times in Salt Lake City. When it is August and you are playing at 7,000 ft and the fairways are like concrete. Just carry the ball 290-305 and your roll out can be 125 yards
To put this into perspective, in 1974, Mike Austin at age 64 hit a drive 515 yards on the 14th hole while competing in the U.S. National Senior Golf Tournament. What was amazing was that the drive was done on a level fairway, using a persimmon wood driver with 10 degrees of loft and a 43.5" extra-stiff steel shaft. The ball was a soft balata. The only aid he had was a 25mph tail wind.
Do you know how hard that is? To hit that little white ball with the club face perfect square and with speed and launch angle and for it all to come together is a beautiful sight to see!! Congrats dude!
I worked at this course for 2 years. Rochelle Ranch. We had 5 trees total, and 3 of them were dead. 6500 ft elevation 8000 yards long. It is as beautiful as it is harsh. Snow doesn’t melt there, the wind just wears it out.
