You are amazing! Learned SO much, I wish you were my teacher. I love how detailed you are in your explanations of why you are doing what you are doing in each step. :)
i know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I was stupid forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Walker Leonel thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thank you for posting these sessions publicly! They are a great help for me, while starting a math major with plenty of catching up to do. You explain really well and the fact that it's not just an explainer has helped me learn from the questions in your audience as well. Thank you so much!
My teacher spends so long explaining how we get proofs and never teaches us how to apply them thank you so much for teaching them so well and in a reasonable time! Thank you!
I do these problems on paper before I watch the video. I was tripped-up on the 25/16 part and got the wrong answer. But I know I won't make that same mistake next time. It was good seeing you have to pause to check things in the book too. If it was stretching your thinking, then it was also stretching your students' thinking.
I don't understand around 6:55. How did he get the binomial things? I might've missed something or got confused, I'm not sure, but it feels like you're just dropping the middle number?
I’m probably too late, but it’s because he completed the square. You drop the exponent value because it’s squared. and he got x-1 because b/2^2 equaled -1.
hi, I'm studying to become an educator and I've noticed you made some minor mistakes and the students corrected you. Is this a strategy to ensure their engagement in the material? If so I think that is a brilliant idea!
What if instead of -32x, it is a -8x? My teacher gave me that problem but I noticed that the second term is smaller, that’s why I don’t know how to proceed.
+BLIND DATE you will need to know how to complete the square, search my channel for completing the square and ellipse and I have plenty of videos for that
Hi there :D im looking for the standard form of my ellipse with the center at the origin :) and the problem is : Major axis on y-axis, length of the minor axis is 20 and the distance of foci from center is Square root of 70 or √70 i wish you could help me thank you
so based on what you know b is 10 c is sqrt 70. Use the formula c^2=a^2-b^2 to find a. Then plug into the equation for a vertical ellipse x^2/b^2 - y^2/a^2 = 1 since h and k are zero. That help?
mr.mclogan sir how to compute the second eccentricity of an ellipse if the farthest distance of the earth from the sun(apogee) is 24 million miles and its nearest distance from the sun (perigee) is 6 million miles.assume the earth's orbit is an ellipses with the sum a one of the foci. i dont know the second eccentricty my teacher didnt discuss that to us.
Giotto Vongola Primo eccentricity is just the ratio between the distance of a point from a fixed point to the distance of the point from a fixed line so you can't have more than one
I thought you had to divide each side by the coefficient to cancel the coefficients out and also equal 1. Instead of dividing both sides by 25, divide the opposite side by 25 and the other side by 16.
+Aphotic a^2 is always larger than b^2 for an ellipse. If the larger number or a^2 is under (x-h)^2 then it has a horizontal major axis. If a^2 is under the (y-k)^2 then it has a vertical major axis. This is because a is the distance from the center to the vertices on the major axis
aha thanks I was really confused because i came to a problem in which a^2 was the same as b^2, and I still don't understand that part. But the video was really great and helped with everything else.
my brain just broke. equation i have is 6xsqare+25ysq-512x+150y-351=0. here i cnt take common between the x (suppose i take it fraction) then in trinomial as in the video 7:10 (b/2)sq=1819.02 nw who wants to solve my problm?
happy to help!

Sir what if my perfect square trinomial is a fraction? What should I do??
Thank you for your informative lecture, Sir Brian :-)
you are very welcome!
2021 and this video saved my homework, thank you so much Sir McLogan!
Yes you are very welcome!!
one question, Sir. At 11:15 - how did you get 4 as the value of b? thanks for all your math videos, really helpful
someone cleared it up, and the prof probably just misread the b as 4 instead of 1.
HOW CAN SOMEONE BE SO GOOD AT MATH ? HUHUYU THANK YOU SIR!
Sir can you teach me how to find the perfect ,foci in x -axis?
You are saving my life, sir.
Happy to be able to help you out.
at 6:59 how did you get 16(x-1)^2+25(y+1)^2 ?? that's the exact part i needed help on for my work and i have no clue what to do
Sir love your solutions ..... I wish u would be my teacher 🥺 in INDIA 💛
You are teaching us the way that we cant understand . Thabk god there are some people there who ask question
and reteach I do and rerecord I do. I have plenty of examples and videos to help explain each topic
Thanks a million...you've really helped me💥

Hello sir! I wanna ask if what is maximum and minimum point on the major and minor axis represnts??
Thank you in advance
why does ellipse have many formula? i thought its just x squared over a squared plus y squared over b squared
It's a general form
Omg thank you for this.
Sir, you are so smart and above all, so funny.
How do I find the video before this where you explain what all these things mean?
Mad respect sir+ tysmmm! Love from st Xavier's College Mumbai, india .....wish i could attend ur live lec
sir will u show the reduced form of 7x^2+8xy+y^2+6x+6y-9=0 &find its eccentricity, lengths of axes?.........plz
+BLIND DATE you will need to know how to complete the square, search my channel for completing the square and ellipse and I have plenty of videos for that
Brian McLogan but sir that equation has an xy term how do we complete the square for that?
Rickey Zee if there is a xy then it’s not an ellipse
college lectures sucks they skip so much work.
+monkeypolicd understand, hopefully my videos can help fill in the holes for you
+Mr. McLogan's Math Channel well high school teachers do go in details which helps alot thx man.
I’m learning this is 8th grade you rly shouldn’t be talking..
Eli lmao I’m in the 6th grade learning this. You REALLY shouldn’t be talking
Just have to say thank you for the help
Great video man. Thanks
thanks James!
How did it become 16/16 at 12:00 pls
Wow this video actually helped so much!
happy to be able to help
Thank you very much

Brian McLogan wow good
Same, what university/college?
thank you sir
Wonderful 😊
The formula of the pythagorean theorem is a^2+b^2=c^2, right?
Why is his formula when finding the c^2, is a^2=b^2+c^2???
i don’t understand how you find whether h and k are positive or negative. im doing this rn to study for a test and i cant seem to figure it out
what if in the equation I get a coefficient on the x term?
then rewrite it as a fractional denominator like I did in this example
how do you find the general equation
from the standard formula
so the same problem I did but working backwards?
you rock.
+Mehtab Ahmed : ) thanks
What happened to "doing the same thing on the other side".?
can you help me out with 9x^2+4y^2+27x-8y-126=0
Thanks!
you are very welcome!
thank you very much for this
I'm lost at 10:04 pls help me
-Sorry im a slow learner person
@@cedrickgamboa5280 thanks dude
what if the given is not complete ,for example 4x^2 + 3x^2-16x+4=0
Here is a playlist I created with more examples of completing the square

+Yielding Brute I am only aware of one eccentricity of an ellise
Giotto Vongola Primo eccentricity is just the ratio between the distance of a point from a fixed point to the distance of the point from a fixed line so you can't have more than one
how'd you get that 5/4? T.T
sqrt(25/16)
thanks sir Brian :)
I thought you had to divide each side by the coefficient to cancel the coefficients out and also equal 1. Instead of dividing both sides by 25, divide the opposite side by 25 and the other side by 16.
no what you do to one side you have to do to the other, so by dividing by 25 I make one side 1 and simplify the coefficients on the other side
I still don't get how to tell if the equation's graph is horizontal or vertical.
+Aphotic a^2 is always larger than b^2 for an ellipse. If the larger number or a^2 is under (x-h)^2 then it has a horizontal major axis. If a^2 is under the (y-k)^2 then it has a vertical major axis. This is because a is the distance from the center to the vertices on the major axis

awesome! happy to help
where did you get the 2x and 2y😭😭
4x²+9y²-16x+18y-11=0 find the center ,foci,vertices
The a^2 would be 1.56
thanks!
How come
a^2 = b^2 + c^2
isn't it c^2=a^2+b^2
???
that is for a hyperbola ellipse is c^2=a^2-b^2 or how it is first written
STEM paaaa!!!
I did not see that you have replaced 36x by 32x I beg your pardon.
my brain just broke. equation i have is 6xsqare+25ysq-512x+150y-351=0. here i cnt take common between the x (suppose i take it fraction) then in trinomial as in the video 7:10 (b/2)sq=1819.02 nw who wants to solve my problm?
