Just built my CBG and teaching myself to play using your videos and a few others. THANK YOU for taking the time to teach, and taking it slow for those of us with no experience!
Thank you for responding. One day I need to get some new videos in here. I just let life and work get in the way too much. It is great to hear that you are playing and enjoying yourself. I have 1 to 2 more video lessons to do. Then I will do some more songs. I'll have to post them as I learn them myself.
LJ Thank you so much for sharing tour talent and helping me learn to play a CBG. you taught me more in the last two days than i have learned in the last 3 years. I will be watching all of your video's you are a fantastic teacher you have brought me so much joy and fun to playing now. please keep up the video's if at all possible. and i will be watching for you on here. "3, 5, and..." OMG IT'S WHITESNAKE. You rule, sir. An excellent teacher, very down to earth, and I certainly can't fault your taste in musical selections to teach, either!
I just wanted to agree with everyone on here about your videos. I took the time to really put a lot of heart and soul into my first CBG that I built and after it was done I had the realization that I had never played any slide guitar at all before ha ha. Your videos have helped me really start to enjoy my project even after I had finished building it so I just wanted to say thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us.
LJ - you really are awesome - thank you so much for sharing your skills and knowledge ! I'm still learning, and have about 3 -4 songs on the go that I practice on a weekly basis - and I ALWAYS start by watching your vids to kick-start myself.
Excellent work don't give up people are learning heaps. I'm driving my family mad with the first 3 cord of Bad to the Bone... hopefully I will progress further soon. Many Thanks
@CriticalBill665 Awesome to hear about the 1st build!! Its Great when you get to bang out a tune on a instrument you built yourself. When I built my first one there wasnt alot of help and I got a couple people on youtube to give me some pointers. Nowdays there is tons of resources to help you. I have also found that a majority of the people I have met that build CBGs are some of the finest people I have ever met. 1 piece of advice. Dont overthink your first build. It wont be your last.
Nice! I enjoyed all these lessons. I started to make my first CBG and can't wait to play on it. Also thanks for mentiong wfret.com this is where I'm worried the most when making mine.
@jinxym Thanks for the reply. The scale/length doesnt matter. the longer the scale the further apart your frets will be. Check out wfret.com. it will allow you to print out a fret diagram from any size scale. you just set it up to inches and put the number of frets. then the # of inches. do not use the" sign, just the number of inches. you can lay it on your fretboard and make your marks. I recomend starting with the 12th fret(middle of the scale) and mark up and down from there.
Would you be so kind as to tell me what the tuning for this is I assume perhaps GDG. This song is such a huge part of my teenage years and I would love to learn it...

I have a very limited knowledge of music from high school over 30+ years ago. You are the first person to make all this make sense to me.

Can you please tell me what strings your hitting for the open picking part right after 5th fret part, right at the beginning.
