      Eh I never claimed they weren't metal, but a preposterous ammount of wierdos claim they're the best metal band around. "Best" is obviously subjective, but to even say something like that demonstrates a wildly myopic scope on metal.
      I feel like a lot of people are being introduced to metal through them, because there's no fucking way even the noobiest metalhead could ever make that claim. But hey, the more the merrier, so long as it's not the only metal you listen to.
      Sounds elitist, but if you heard someone say "Dominoes has THE BEST pizza" you'd have to physically restrain yourself from slapping them in the fucking mouth. I'm glad you like pizza, but at least go to one artisan pizza joint that serves pizza on stands before saying some shit like that, you know?

      But there's nothing wrong with someone finding baby metal their favorite band, they have a lot of great songs. And they're clearly a highly talented band skill wise.
      This elitist shit is silly, its like "true" black metal fans only want bands to record on a potato, when the truth is that black metal sounds so much fucking better when its recorded by pro's doing a really good mix.
      Like it or not, Nickleback have some metal songs, and yup they're still metal songs no matter who's behind them.

    Worst part about the Metal scene is the elitist fanbois who take shit waay to serious and is a big factor in why I stopped calling myself a metalhead. Some people were making it their personality and they love talking shit about bands that they think are too commercial. While I did go through a period of about a decade of only listening to metal, my thinking changed and my tastes developed. I no longer feel ashamed to say I like bands like Baby metal because I honestly no longer care what metalheads think and haven't done so in over a decade lol

      @shibapatrol801 8 дней назад

      @@islaymassive1530 I mean pretty much all successful metal acts are corporate to some degree. They have productions teams and companies (or labels) that manage them. How and when the band was created becomes less important when music is about the end product, less about the process. I honestly don't really care whether the band was formed in one of the member's mom's basement 15 years ago or whether it was the brainchild of music producer if the music good, that's all that matters.

      It's because elitists think they own metal, they are like religeous fanatics.
      They are conformists who cannot tolerate anything that doesn't conform to the expected norm.
      Trying to control what is metal gives them a sense of power and relevancy that they don't actually have.
      You know you are an important band if you ruffle the feathers of elitists.

Some people are just really geeky when it comes to genres and labeling bands, not everyone, hell I'd say only a vocal minority, of the people you described are "elitists". • @Corum-rl9ro
      @Corum-rl9ro 7 дней назад

      @@FrogWalrus Maybe my wording was a bit too strong and blunt, but i stand by what i said.
      Opinion is one thing, but someone beliving they have the power to decide what is 'pure' or 'real' and not having the intelligence to know opinion is not fact actually is elitism and does resemble forms of religeous control.
      Just as gatekeeping is useless because it happens AFTER something has already got past the gates, elitism is useless because a band, group or acts genre is primarily defined by what market and scene they thrive in and Babymetal rose to power in the metal scene, they chart in metal charts, they appear in metal magazines, they play metal festivals. They may not be a typical band but they are metal. Labels like Pop-metal, Kawaii-metal do not matter. If any acts music is primarily metal then they are metal by default.
      All of the reasoning i hear why Babymetal are not metal is either based on ignorance or confusion about what metal 'should' be, or based on misconceptions, jealousy or bitterness rather than facts, and usually has nothing to do with their music. 'they don't play the instruments' 'their not organic' 'Su doesn't growl' etc., but non of that excludes them from being metal. All they are saying is Babymetal are different and should be cast out because of it. F**k that, that's not what the spirit of metal was supposed to be about, and that is why Babymetal have been embraced by their peers.

    Honestly the debate about Babymetal just comes down to the fact that they're young Japanese women and they don't sound like the voices we usually hear in metal

    • @thefruitman3200
      @thefruitman3200 6 месяцев назад +7

      I mean... yeah,
      not necessarily the japanese woman part, but kawaii vocals just freak me out, i don't find it cute at all because it's essentially baby talk in another language or at least that's how i understand it
      There's also the fact that they are essentially part of a "production line" for their talent agency, probably one of the main reasons for their music leaving a bad taste in my mouth ( i only heard them live at a sabaton concert, so maybe i don't know enough)

      @@thefruitman3200 when it comes to Japanese music and groups, I sort of figured that this was the total norm.
      The whole, founded by an agency thing.

      I feel like a lot more talent would be exposed this way if it were more acceptable in other countries.

      @@sarahhenry3607 Honestly, almost anyone can be a good singer given time. It's mostly a matter of practice.
      The problem they might have with it is in japan the agency scene is based on finding someone with the right look and pruning them into a singer and dancer who follows whatever song and dance the agency hands them, usually around a very specific theme.
      Talent is really not the name of the game, looking a specific way to fit into a mold is. Anyone trying to go their own way is often crushed under agencies who don't want any competition.
      It's a very EA way of doing things.

    • @sarahhenry3607

      @@FastForwardPlans I totally get what you're saying, and while I do agree with some parts of it.. regardless of how we put this, vocals are the one thing that everyone tends to focus on first, and yes while anyone with enough practice has the ability to be a decent singer, its still something that takes these people insane hours of dedication to be able to accomplish. And to be better than decent? phew... Not to mention all the dances that they need to learn in the process for each different song!
      So I think what im saying is... Yeah they may have been hired and brought into this scene cause they are cute. But they also are putting their entire energy into it. Ya have to admit, the gals aint half-assing anything. And ya know, i think thats pretty fuckin metal lol

    • @FastForwardPlans
      @FastForwardPlans 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@sarahhenry3607 I'm not saying they are bad, surely they worked hard, harder than most, the agency scene is pretty dang stressful where a lot of demands are placed on the people who get into it, with many singers being tossed to the wayside pretty hard if they don't go fast enough.
      Babymetal probably work very hard every day to get that sound.
      But the thing behind them, the agencies are what is offputting. Organizations that craft people into something and create these roles out of them.
