Dutifully Proud -- and we are proud of you. -- I feel like the 75% that never make the whole trail -- really just are those who never really make it to and Thru the Smokys (their hearts break). Folks who have accomplished so much like you -- are the 25% that make it all the way (as long as they physically can). You've Got Heart and are finding the JOY in your JOurneY.

You and a few others I'm following were there at the same time and the weather could have been worse like a few years ago, but geez it wasn't easy for you. God bless, be safe, have fun. Thanks for letting me tag along

Go Couch!! Mindset affects everything, and vice versa. Mindset can make food taste better, people look better, scenery look more beautiful. Also, your current mindset can/does affect the way you remember an event in the past. Correlate these thoughts with your walk in the mountains, where there is snow and wind around one corner, and warmer temps and signs of spring just a few feet away. A person can be standing right next to you, yet their experience can be vastly different from yours. This is what I love most about being in nature. It is constantly showing us metaphors and lessons for life if only we pay close attention. Energy levels, a full belly, weather, the mood of your group, affect the present and also affect the way you REMEMBER the past! Thank you for talking about mindset! We don’t talk about the inner world enough, yet it has everything to do with the way we experience the outer world!! Hike on Couch! You rock!! Thanks again for sharing it all!!

Slack Packing is not cheating it’s being smart for your knees. When your older and by the time you reach Vermont the Smokies will seem easy. The 4k downhills in Whites are tough save up for them.

I Wonder why hikers don’t wear water proof boots to protect their feet from hiking through the mud & water. There has to be pros and cons but it sure would alleviate some of the misery and potential foot problems.

While uour hiking there is bot much else to do but as soon as something else is entertaining you and it's probably the most interesting thing you could be filming you totally forget and live in the moment! Lol like I kept wanting to film at the end of the day but once I got to camp there is so many things to get done before the sun goes down that I'd forget.

Yes the AT goes through the Grayson highlands and very close to the mt Rogers summit. There is a side trail to the summit near the Thomas knob shelter. We nero'd at Thomas knob cuz of bad weather then foggy. So with nothing else to do we did the side trail to the summit. It didn't take long at all, if I recall maybe 15 mins? There is no view at the top. The next day was perfect and sunny and we had a blast enjoying the ponies
