What did you think of these new tyres from Pirelli? Let us know 👇
How about using nitrogen or even helium in the bike tyres to make them quicker? 🤔#AskGCNtech
How many P-Zero tyres would it have taken for Olly not to get dropped in the 4 v 1 TT bike???
maaaaarketing..
Pirelli clincher vs tubeless next?
How do the new Pirelli race tires compare to the Conti 5000 tires? #AskGCNtech
Ollie knows he can't get dropped if he's the only one in the video. Brilliant.
Maybe he's not that fast on the bike, but at least hes skilled in staying still
That's cold-blooded! LOL!!!!
Burrrrrrn...but hilarious! 😂
For sure, Ollie is the coolest guy at GCN, too sad CW lost him
@@josephdoby6411 Sometimes the coolest guy deserves the frostiest treatment, ice cold, lol. 😀
Im glad tube type isn't dead!! Never really liked the mess of the tube less system. Nice Pinarello Ollie!! 🔥🔥🔥
will be great to record in an electric bike instead of a gas one, it makes less noices
OMG yes - been thinking that on a few vids, GCN needs to get something quiet - not some single cylinder chunter-fest
Yea at first I thought it was his freehub but no!
Plus they like to talk about environmental friendliness, so that oughta get an electric motorcycle to keep it consistent.
Let's have a rolling resistance test between these Pirellis and and pair of Conti 5000.
Bicycle rolling resistance . com has already done this. They perform worse than GP5K. But GCN won't tell you that, let alone test it.
@@punkandprovocation as far as I can see they they haven’t tested any 2021 tires from Pirelli especially clinchers. But even their TT tire gets thrashed by the conti. Michelin TT is the fastest in clincher tires.
@@punkandprovocation brr hasnt tested this new tyre yet. Pirelli reckons its a smidgen under the gp5000 in rr, but... theres more to a tyre than just rr. The weight here is very low.
@@oliverbridgewood3929 are they already availible for ordinary customers?
@Patrick Little GCN changed from a channel about cycling to a channel about selling cycling products so gradually, it took me forever to really notice.
Definitely agree on tires being a fantastic single upgrade. After a few years of riding on stock tires, I swapped em out for a mid-range tire and the difference was night and day.
Oh, and Ollie: you looked almost fast enough to keep from being dropped here. Nice work.
I NEVER used to care about lining up logos with the valve
and through sheer mention on GCN it now gives me deep joy haha
to line up a new tire logo on a wheel
Tbh, I thought this is all marketing bs...but since the P Zero (velo, not race) was on sale for only 30€, I gave it a try...
it was a complete game changer for me. Incredible. not even the speed (maybe + 0,5km/h) - but the whole feeling.
8 bars, hard as steel, but the ride felt smooth as butter. Bumps that made me crazy became gentle...
Also it doenst spill much water and your but and the bike stay clean on a wet ride.
My 1.000€ bike felt like a 2.000€ bike just by changing the tyres. It was THAT much better.
Only thing is: this thing REALLY doesnt like wet tracks. Be careful. Its slipery as hell^^
Yea I just put som 30mm P zero race tires on and they're wonderful. They mounted easy, and ride fast and feel great. I like em
Pirelli zero vs Continental GP 5000!!
Yes please.
They won't be allowed to under the sponsorship deal.
Are they the same price?
It is P zero.
I find Continental tyres a really good but the sidewalls get damaged easily.
So glad you had the Vision to try these tyres.
I’ve been using the Velo 4s. The roads are pretty rough with cracks and holes aplenty. I’ve sliced a couple sets of GP4000 and the stock tires on my Emonda. The Velo4s have stood up for 4000km. 👌 fast enough for this guy!
Thanks for the quality review!
Not bad power, looks like Ollie has been training for the 4¾v1
Ollie would blow the legs off of 90% of amateur road cyclists
@@send_it_si no doubt about it, the 300+ ftp that he possesses is nothing to sneeze at
Awesome. Tyres are exciting. Although obviously you need to vary your pressures by tyre wall colour due to darker colours absorbing more radiated heat.
it would have been way more interesting comparing this p zero race vs p zero velo, comparing it with a different category of tyre like the 4s doesn't have sense
I think the 4s provides a good example (or better example) of the kind of higher rolling resistance tire that comes stock on many bikes, as Ollie mentioned.
i'm sold, was just about to spunk out on the p zero velo for my new custom build. p zero race it is. And if you don't go for tan walls you are mental!
I love that GCN is based neer where I live cus I always see the roads I ride in the vids
I drove the GP5000 (28mm/5bar). Now this P Zero Race (26mm/6.2bar). Long story short: the P Zero’s are great. I definitely prefer them above the Conti’s. Grip is better and - even though smaller and higher pressure - more compliant. The rolling resistance should be worse, compared to the Conti’s. Well, I do not notice that difference. In stead, the P Zero’s feel lighter, less resistance! Great tire. By the way, they look awesome!
I used gp4000, i agree with you all!
The first time, conti feels faster but the more you push it, Pzero feels faster and also better on out of saddle climbing too! With TPU tubes inside, it feels much better too
I agree with your conclusion! :) I just had the Pzero Race and it's a significant upgrade that optimized my wheelset!
Another great, informative video Bridgewood! Cheers👍👏
I love my P Zero Velos. If these new ones are better, then they are going to be very good indeed. Among other things they are super easy to mount. But why compare to the 4S? Maybe the regular Velo is just as fast as the Race or very nearly? And what about the Road?
Yes, i
I have the 4S VELO , they are great tyres, I run them quite a bit softer than the chart, NZ roads are mostly Coarse chip! Highly Recommended for year round use. But I might try those RACE jobbies...Great Work Ollie & the GCN Team!
Ollie, you are such a good sport. Love your videos. Cool tires.
Ollie’s use of the word “ prophylactic” was inspired! That’s definitely the word of the year, so far!!
Great vid Ollie & it's good to see you rocking an 80s mullet hair do 🤣
I love Ollie's passion for new tech :)
Some quality track standing here, old chap
thanks pal. i do all my own stunts
There must be an out-takes video for that somewhere ;-)
I love that Ollie’s 5 count is always 4 beeps.
Darn it. now that I finally switch to tubeless, a manufacturer decide to do a good tire with out the sticky mess.
Pirelli already offers this tire in the tubeless form. I use it and it’s great
It's not as if this was a massive step forward. Had they compared it to a comparable tire (not a winter model) they would have only found a marginal gain, if any. Don't always believe the marketing hype or you'll make your life more complicated than it needs to be ;)
Don't worry. this is another paid promotional video. it won't effect anything, but GCN's profit.
And, anyway, I've been using tubeless for years now, and I can tell that you'd better don't aspect them to be self- repairing in winter, or under the pouring rain.
Sealants are water based and they fail to clog when diluted by the heavy rain.
I stil prefer tubeless tyres, but my winter wheels have inner tubes.
That's another fine mess that Ollie's got you into.
@@juliankaiser9764 yeah great...but tlr race vesion is too fragile....super fast and light but had already two punctures in the middle of tire..i used it only in front tyre
Quality video Ollie!!! Think I will be ordering for summer but I wonder who can track stand best at GCN!???
I have still the "old" ones in stock. Added puncture protection.....why? I didn't have a flat since 2017 (7000km per year)
This in brilliant to see the difference. I will definitely consider them for my summer tyre as I'm very disappointed with the Continental Grand Prix 5000 compound cracking after 3 months. would love to see them up agains the Specialized Turbo Cotton tyre. good video.
Just mounted the tubeless version of these today. After one ride they feel exactly like the GP5000s only MUCH easier to install. Took 30 seconds and no tire levers. If they hold up I’m sold.
… and did they hold up? 🙂
Same thing for me today. I’ve always been a Conti fan and have always used GP series (GP5000 most recently).
What a difference in installing the Pirelli! It’s actually blown my mind that I can fit a tyre without levers.
I have the 28mm SL version on a tcr disc. I really like them alot and they don't balloon out so I have tons of clearance. I'm very satisfied with them now that they're on my bike I wish I'd done it sooner!
I love pirelli tires I cycle 18k miles yearly on them and they are amazing sticky corner so well have a better puncture barrier than GP5000 although they don’t last quite as long as GP I’d rather have a stickier tire then a few more miles also they are incredible in rain imho
The expertise to make great tires is there, Pirelli has it. Their Angel GT motorbike tire is legendarily good. I would not be surprised if they created something as good for cycling! 👍
Lmao I'm rocking my hardshells because I hate getting flats
Full wire bead Schwalbes that weigh as much as the entire bike checking in!
The look of relief on his face when he reads that the winter tyre is slower, phew.
haha yeah!
Btw your comment about lining up the tyres had me in stitches, I had literally just done that to my bike!! 😂
I ride schwalbe Durano DD on the roads for general road use but I swap them out for p zero when I track race so its horses for courses, they are a good fast tyre but you lose some puncture resistance for speed. I also make the point that swapping tyres of different use is easier with tubes
It would be interesting to explain how you film these time comparative time trials, because many studies show that even being followed by a car provides lower air resistance. On many shots we feel you guys are being followed, overtaken and following a car or a motorbike
I just love how meta Ollie is becoming 🤣
Going from Continental Ultra Sport III to GP5000 made a huge difference in comfort, turning, puncture resistance, and speed. A downhill I do on the regular got scary fast the first time I rode the GP's. I never had to brake on this descent but I suddenly knew fear.
Most people feel fear when they think about mounting the GP5000...how did you fare?
@@entombed_kills I mounted the clincher version on Fulcrum 3's and it was a pretty easy process with the right tools. If I have to change a tube on a ride, it's never been too much of a hassle. I have heard the horror stories of trying to mount the tubeless version.
Tan walls only look good on certain bikes, and I can't say a red accent paintwork quite works. Tan walls always look best with monochrome colour bikes.
Thinking the same thing. The tan clashes with the red. Of course, just my opinion.
Yeah, it’s a bit like a ginger person having a red car.
@@Gnasherismyup! Literally!!! 😂
As Ollie said, tires are the best bang for buck upgrades! I suggest before swapping for expensive carbon rims, change your tires first.
I also use these PZero tires and it's really amazing
Classic, logo to valve.... I had a new set of tires fitted in a service, logo/valve matched up was the first thing I noticed
The mechanic hands it to you, and both nod in silent agreement.
This is one of your best videos because I have the same bias as you: tires are the best upgrade. I'm always looking for tires that are supple and fast. I don't even care about puncture protection because that presents a trade off and I'm good enough at fixing them.
I had totally forgotten Ollie had been dropped until he mentioned it at 8:43. Thanks for the reminder Ollie.
You’re not in the comments much then, eh? GCN viewers seem to take special delight in ripping on Ollie for getting dropped in a race that 99% of them would have been dropped in, sooner. It’s a weird mean groupthink thing.
@@StevenSkoczen I think Ollie is in on the joke! It is the wonderful thing about English humour, people don't take themselves too seriously. Ollie is awesome!
Nice vid really appreciate it. However you are comparing a winter tyre with a summer race tire so surely to be expected? Why not against the Velo (the non 4s version) which the Race is actually the upgrade from?
Coincidence that I bought a pair of Pirelli PZero Velo 4S last week!
Ollie were they filming you riding using a tractor or has the exhaust fallen off your camera vehicle 😂
Can't have enough of that f12. drop dead gorgeous.
Did they recommend any pressures for my TT trike?
Are we slowly seeing Ollies descent in madness as the videos go by? The time trial must have really affected him haha.
They made a difference with Ollie.. look at the smile
Imagine his time when he gets an Ollie post for his bike. :)
Ollie, never change! 👍
If someone isn’t that much in to cycling or can’t afford having 2 pair of tires one for winter and one for the rest of the year, what would you recommend having as an all around all year tire? 4s or race vélo ?
Is Ollie trying to take Dan's trackstand crown? I sense a competition in the making...
Hi Ollie, hope this message finds you well. My tires are 28c, rear is Pirelli cinqurato and front is Pzero race. I couldn’t get the same identical pair as in India there is shortage of tires import due certain govt restrictions. Do you think with this setup is fine or should I place the Pzero race to the rear wheel and cinqurato to the front? If yes then why, please advise. Have a good day :)
#AskGCNTech How important is it to keep the rim wider than the tire (the "Rule of 105%") on deep section rims? It looks like Ollie's Vision rims here are 24.8mm wide, but how much would having the tires size up to 26mm (3:11) spoil the aero?
@Ollie - first, I'd like to "defend" you... I have to say you are probably the funniest among the other presenters (who we all love very much, btw) BUT it is simply unfair to hear them slightly bullying you all the time regarding your "getting dropped tendency", your skills, etc.. 😤
You have an astonishing love for the bike universe, a huuuge technical-geek culture and (let me say) you represent each of us "NON-PRO" viewers in the GCN Family - which is...Great! Thank you.
In case you want to strike back, we should take your colleagues down 1-by-1 | i.e.) Someone in the GCN HQs should seriously prohibit Hank's tendency to flex his abs at any given occasion... 💪 Saw 2 consecutive videos where he's flaunting them for no reason... "Train like a Pro, work like average Joe" - "Training with HR"...
Ok, jokes apart! Keep on rockin' and lots of love to all GCN from Italy! ✌ Ps - GCN UK is 220% better than the ITA version with Alan and Giorgio... (Shhhh! 🤫)
thanks mate!
are wider tires faster? And what combination of rim and tire works well?
I currently have a 2011 Trek Madone 3.1 which came with Bontrager R1, 700x23c and I am currently using Continental GatorHarshell Black in 25mm. Will the Pirelli P Zero 700x26C fit properly on those wheels?
Pirelli race vs Gp5000 ? Cant wait!!!
Look mum, I cycle with just one hand.
Look mum, I cycle with no hands.
Look mum, i cycle with no teeth. 🤪😅
No teeths means weight savings ;)
Love The Nerd Ollie, I too geek out on performance.
Do you run latex tubes in your carbon rim brake clinchers?
I swapped from gp4000 II's to the old pirelle p zero once before. Bike went from under me and broke my wrist on the first ride. Good to hear they've changed the compound but still wouldn't trust them myself...
Thanks 👍
Top 10 tire comparison ??
Yes please.
as long as they're all pirelli...
I’d love to see that as well but remember, this is an ad.
Top 10? There is really only two or three choices for tyre no? I have not met anyone yet not on the new gp5000's except myself who is still killing my gp4000's with the 5000's sitting in my draw ready...
@@boomchakalaka3715 I can think of Schwalbe, Conti, Pirelli, Vittoria, and Specialized as all making pretty competitive top-level tyres. Then there's Hutchinson, Maxxis, Bontrager, WTB, Wolfpack, and other more niche brands
Hey, I’ve got duraace 9100 C40 wheelset. I’ve noticed the Pzeros are £12 cheaper in 24mm. My internal width is about 20 mm so the tires should come up a tiny fraction over 25mm by my rough calculations.
I should have minimal bulbing.
Would you think this is ok?
HI , can you show me where is information on Pirelli website , how tyres will bulbing on specific whellset internal widht ? some table ?
Cant wait to try this tyre on my Trek Madone bicycle. I have always used Pirelli tyres on my 1000cc Honda Fire blade Motorbike they make the fastest racing tyres they also have the same thread pattern as my Pirelli Corsa motorbike tyres.
Number crunching - the 4S tire produced an average speed of 36.96 kph across the segment, while the new Race brought up that up to 38.12 kph. So Ollie gained over 1 kph, just in the improvement in rolling resistance.
Tire width is widely discussed but unfortunately nobody talks about the height. I just installed 28mm versions of the PZero and they are nearly touching the frame at the seat tube and at the fork head. Compared to the 26mm Michelin Power Comp. they dab on nearly 3mm in height. Please mention this when testing and comparing tires!
I just used tlr version with tubes last weeks. Well
And the final thing. What will climb best? Zero race or GP5000? Both in TL version.
Ok, but which brand / model of tire for 2023? Fondo vs. sprint? And I'd like to see an "amateur vs pro kit" comparison where you put together all the small things (entry level bike, attire, tires, etc. vs. pro equivalents) with the same rider doing the same wattage. Am I going to be cumulatively 30 seconds slower for each bit of kit I haven't upgraded? Will I come in an hour behind on a 40 minute ride?
I only put the logo with the valve if the psi is printed with it, otherwise I line it up with the max min psi
Ollie! I thought the best bang for the buck were latex inner tubes? Are you lying to us or a change of mind? :) Great video. Surprising how much difference in that short of a course.
both tyres and tubes👍🏼
Well it's going to depend what your starting point is isn't it?
woooohoo yellow tires for my classic bianchi that arent slow
Is the compounds of that tire simillar to the F1 tire?
Ollie. Are you going back to tubeless on your steed or switching to to these?
Are you using the smart tubes with them cheers Neil
GCN needs a electric motorcycle to record in movement! Much noise...
I´m considering these - question is, will they stop me from getting dropped? Would love to hear an expert opinion on this... :)
Would love to see Ollie Vs Tom Last by name last by nature!
Ollie technically dropped himself in this vid 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Got a pair of conti ride tour for winter with steel cord, have a gp4000 and vittoria rubino pro for summer. The difference is so LARGE. With an average weirght of 0,5 kilo of winter tyre and 0,25 on the summer ones. Actually, heavier tyres ride BETTER at lower pressure of 6 atm, when lighter are ok at 7 atm.
I bought these in 24mm because they were £12 cheaper each. I have wide duraace carbon rims so thought they’d stretch out 1 mm fine. Even at 60 psi which is far lower than recommended they are a very harsh ride. They roll well & seem grippy probably won’t puncture easily but they are so over priced.
I should have got the SL version, maybe the puncture protection belt is the problem.
I’m going to drop a bit more air pressure but I should have gone for a bigger size really.
I thought this was a video about my car tires then 😂
Are you in Formula 1? Am just pointing out how they seem to call everything P Zero
I just bought the tubeless ones. Well played marketing department.
IMO ... tan sidewall looks great on retro bikes and gravel bikes.
How do they compare to the Pirelli Cinturato Velo?
Yes on tan sidewalls!
How about a look at the other colors available?
Well you talked me into getting pirelli velo 4s’..
How can get cycling camera road
Another bestttt
Starting to believe the beep countdown is only to show off the track start.
Ollie, we saw you helping GTN to go against poor Manon. Judas!
