Allen! Just wanted to let you know I’ve used your tips and referenced your resume for formatting and was able to land an internship and rotational co-op for 2024. Thanks so much!
Super interesting video! I've had decent experience but noticed that my resume would get autofiltered/rejected still in some strange instances, so the way you actually explained how the parsers that companies used was very useful!
I like your videos! They keep me motivated to keep studying. Would you be willing to make a video on what type of projects you first started with on your resume? Like what beginner projects you first had on your resume which helped you to land those first internships, and then now the projects you created after gaining more experience which helped you land those 3 bigger internships. Hopefully that made sense, thank you!
Awesome vid! I recently found ur channel, and your experience has been really inspiring. Im currently a junior but still havent gotten an internship, and i haven't really been taught anything substantial by my school so my personal projects are scuffed. Do you have any tips?
This video was extremely helpful thank you so much Allen!! I wanted to know how you got the opportunity to do work on research paper with san jose and Stanford University?
Great Videos! Any recommendations on how I should learn rather than uni? because after watching your videos I found out I have a lot of gaps in my knowledge regarding CS although I am a freshman attending college due to finances.
Great video man, I especially liked the tip in your other video about graduation date on your first internship vid, as someone currently with barely any programming experience heading into first year of cs do you have any tips on what I should do/learn to prepare for swe internship?(currently just doing basic coding puzzles to get familiar)
Yo, this is really late but how did you start learning to code? Was it through university or did you already know before hand? And what resources did you use?
Tysm for keeping it real! Any tips to get your first paid internship? I am currently a high school senior without much experience. Do you just recommend creating projects and participating in professor research?
Yea, strong + unique projects are definitely a plus and a lot of my interviewers ask me about them during my interview. Feel free message me on LinkedIn if you have more q's
Thanks! Any advice for how to get research assistant positions? I'm going to a Mediocre school next year even though I got accepted to a few Great ones due to finances. But man, the NASA and Amazon internships looks really nice on your resume.
For Reference Im going to the University of Minnesota but had a 4.11 GPA in Highschool. Ive mainly been working in Python but I really like creating Simulations using C# like some of my favorite youtubers like Sebastian Lague. I appreciate any input or advice you can give!
hey allen, do you think i should take a high quantity of unpaid internships in HS or focus on good, paid internships and projects? I'm getting a decent interview rate for unpaids but i want a good internship and honestly idk what to do

These days, I use a lot of chatgpt + online resources to make projects out of the scope of what my classes teach me
@allenye66 Do you have any recommendations for what I should learn? (Assuming I only know html, css, Java, python, and data structures)?
This video was extremely helpful thank you so much Allen!! I wanted to know how you got the opportunity to do work on research paper with san jose and Stanford University?
Lots of outreach + networking :)
What's your opinion on including awards?
Depends on what type of award, but I think it's fine to include it in your education section/project section as a bullet point.

Projects + a ton of leetcode
Yo, this is really late but how did you start learning to code? Was it through university or did you already know before hand? And what resources did you use?
Mostly self taught through making projects I wanted to during high school. Nowadays, I use chatgpt to learn new stuff :)

thank you this video was very helpful!
Awesome
Thanks again bro!

i have 1 internship under my name but it's just a startup
i'd focus on getting quality paid internships
Why did you choose to not include your GPA? I have a 3.9 too, is that too low to include?
Nah, just not enough space. 3.9 is fine
I'm ruining the 500 subs now it's 501
