I hated insta block at first but once I got the timing down it grew on me quickly. It’s an absolute nightmare in multiplayer but solo hunts are a blast. Also, it’s saddening that Narga is still technically the best Lance. Diablos Spear is fun but with the new decos it just gets left behind in terms for run times, if you’re a casual hunter though it’s fine and lot less skill reliant. Hell of a run my guy...hell of a run. I thought I was good getting sub 11 lol

Which is true but it doesn’t really correlate well though nor are earplugs really that necessary. Qol skill? Sure but almost every weapon has a counter that can block every roar and the few that don’t, are either out of range or have enough s to just evade through it.

Nice run! I'm currently trying to figure out which I like more anchor rage or spiral thrust. I know spiral thrust is stronger, but I suck at controlling the dashes. Anyways, I was wonder if anyone can tell me what happened at 3:37 in the video? I'm experiencing this often, where my anchor rage gets proc (I hear the sound and I get the buff) just like in the video but I still get hit. Is it due to timing or does anchor rage have limits on what it can counter? Thanks!
He got hit by a multi hit attack. Anchor rage only blocks 1 hit so if the monster hits you multiple times in quick succession you’re fked. You need power guard for that

Spiral thrust is peak Lance. You literally joust your way through the monster lol He’s using anchor rage because he’s playing aggressive/evade Lance which doesn’t run guard.
I don't understand the build choices. Is the intent to max Attack boost and then fill in whatever affinity? If that's the case, only wex 2 and crit eye 2? That puts you at like... 75% crit on weak spots?

I use insta block and play the game like sekiro where I try to parry as many moves as I can as I find it much more of a steep and satisfying way to play but this shows Im using it too much and should be using the regular counterattack and power guard. How do you consistently go into power guard/counterattack without doing the bushido block animation? Is it purely a timing thing? Half the time I try it does the wrong thing and gets me hit.
The updates only been live for 1 day and you're already getting insane runs calm down sir! Impressive as always. Also just a side question I have- do you think elemental lances are ever worth running into any monsters at this point in the game?

I feel ya man. I dunno how you feel, but spiral thrust feels feels kind of unfun to me. I got lucky with a WEX2/Wirebug 2 charm, so I can get wirebug 3 pretty easily and it's even more just spiral spam and it's not fun all the time even if the damage is good.
i love the spiral thrust. i like the mobility of it, and even though i am not exactly the best at it, i love the huge attack boost if you actually parry during it. it is sad though that it is more of a spam then anything..that does kinda suck
He's not using spiral thrust. Spiral thrust is the silkbind that launches you forward->any direction you input twice. It also gives off that color around the lance but only after a perfect guard/right before it's done
Yo wtf ? I do 30 min runs on him with about 30 potion used up 🤮 For some darn reason after 2 stab hit my character doesn't recover fast enough to guard n I get hit by Teo! Not only that but he constantly moving around alot out my reach . Lol any tips?
For the two stab to guard, use counter guard instead of trying to normal guard, it’s faster and allows more stable dps. For moving out of your reach, I’d advise using your dash attack as much as possible to close the gap if he’s focusing your palico or teammate. Good luck in your hunts!

Diablos Lance can hit white sharpness now, but you'd have to mess around with a protective polish/speed sharpening setup. I really doubt the Narga Lance is better for general play, but speedrunners might get more mileage in shorter runs from not having to sharpen.
Why would it be worse for general play? You have more effective white sharpness sharpness than Diablos has blue with Razor Sharp, and even MT only needs 62.5% effective affinity to go even with RS. I'm fairly confident going for white on Diablos isn't worth it - too much skill investment to get and maintain. It does less damage than Narga now even when Narga invests in sharpness skills. The exception would during Fighter Cat's Rousing Roar, but I haven't done the math to determine of the uptime is enough to make Diablos generally better or not.
So narga lance is the new meta ? Time to drop my diablos lance. Also is insta-block really worth it ? It is hard to time and low dps i think. But the fact you don't get chip damage and stamina loss is really useful (i always have guard up +3 on every lance set I use because of chip damage killing me every time, so it might be my solution, coupled with more use of anchor rage).
Insta-block doesn’t stop chip damage from unblockables, for some reason. Insta-block isn’t really that important. Optimal lancing most of the time uses other moves to block (guard dash, counter thrust, power guard, anchor rage / spiral thrust), cause you can do those while attacking. Insta-block can only be done from idle. Insta-block is really just a small bonus for when wire bugs are on cool down.
Yes because they aren’t running any guard. With Insta-block + Anchor rage you don’t need to run guard, it’s instead more beneficial to run constitution. Elders and higher tier monsters have a lot of knock back so they can eat through your power guard (the only means of guarding multi-hit attacks you have) really quickly. Constitution mitigates that and makes using hops much more effective over cancel thrust because you sent locked into an animation. It’s a trade off but the advantage is that you exponentially increase your damage output. The only issue is that running this build or anything similar is very very player skill reliant and has next to zero room for error. They got hit maybe three times and still almost carted twice. All of that being said, it’s an adrenaline rush like no other lol

Based on the math I've done, yes Narga beats Diablos now. Since you can now fit all of your damage skills AND MT/Razor Sharp, you no longer have to worry about running out of white mid-hunt (or can just max attack boost if you're fine with the 30). The caveat is the Fighter cat's rousing roar, which gives you 30% affinity with a pretty solid uptime (IIRC it's 2mins with a ~30-40s downtime). I am fairly certain that Diablos outperforms Narga when the song is up, even if you drop some affinity from your Narga build to account for it. But I haven't really delved into it too deeply.

Sadly no, elem lance really got shafted with our optimal moves being high mv and not pokes anymore. :(

Yeah, I prefer the classical poke still at the end of the day and not liking the charged sweep either.

3 will let you guard pretty much everything, except for the ground flame and the huge aoe blast
