Actually, the beginning is set in 2077. It's just that it is set on an alternate timeline where in 1967 all the states (and Canada I believe) had formed 13 'Commonwealth' areas. It's just that the technology has that retro futuristic look to it.
The key difference in the technology is that the transistor was never invented. So that's why they still use tubes and are more reliant on using nuclear tech in every day things like cars.
Ella Purnell was also in the series “Yellowjackets” and voices adult Jinx on “Arcane”. Was shocked to learn she’s British because she does a perfect American accent.
5:14 Yeah, that's Ella Purnell. She was in Kick Ass 2, but also she's the voice of Jinx, the main character of Arcane. Her brother is also played by Moises Arias, the little kid back on Hannah Montana. And Walton Goggins also voiced Cecil in Invincible!
You've actually seen plenty of Jonathan Nolan work, at least as a writer, from Memento to Dark Knight trilogy, Interstellar and other his brother Chis Directed. He is not only directing some in here, he is a showrunner for this. He was a showrunner for the Westworld with his wife.
1:17 its in 2000+, its alternate timeline from our world where world stayed in the 50s in some way but more advanced then our modern day, and all theology was power by nuclear power, they went full nuclear, so even cars have nuclear reactors powering them
I’d heard the ‘hold your thumb out’ saying before, but never actually did it in real life til watching this episode, and doing it really puts it in perspective how insanely far away you’d have it be for it to be smaller than your thumb and not in the kill zone.
15:25 its her and her men there with her, others who are knocked out and who is dead are raiders she brought with her as distraction to get Lucy's father
The reason for the look of the show is because microchips were never created so its 2077 in the beginning when the bombs fall. Everyone kept the 50s look but they did develop "futuristic" technology like robots that help around the house, etc.
This show is so incredibly niche and nuanced in tone because of the references to the games, and I hope people don't perceive certain things as corny or bad acting because that's just the tone. Even the reference to certain characters being low intellect and charisma or perception skills, it isn't explained but implied through the dialogue and acting.
Absolutely worth playing Fallout, the games are amazing. I've mostly played 3 & 4 but I've had the chance to play a few hours each of New Vegas and 76 & they were great too. IMO they nailed it with this show.
@@ToughGamingGuy My copy of New Vegas is scratched on the part of the disc that contains NCR data so going to any of their locations or doing any of their quests causes the game to crash lmao. I'm gonna play it on PC or something eventually.
Enjoyed this, and noticed on this rewatch that the raider who she married had a scar on his back just like the one Maximus gets. So some (all?) of the Raiders were once associated with the knights. Hmm.
lucy stole my line. i'm the "okie dokie" guy first episode is surprisingly good, I like kyle machlachlan as always, maximum is good...but man episode 2 he shits the bed, i'll watch episode 3 tomorrow. i like all/most of the sound effects being from the games
little bit about Brotherhood of steel BoS for short: BoS goes around collecting/confiscating pre war technology even from ppl, their view is they advanced to much in some areas and that was the cause of nuclear war, they don't care if u use the technology for self defense they will take it, unless its a type of weapon can buy in our real life, example laser and plasma riffles they will take it by force (so in short they blame technology for what happened), that's their original view/ideology i say that cause BoS has splitted in to different cells and all have slightly different view/ideology, like 1cell dev view that they should help ppl and become like police army and guard them, if u want to know more search some video that explains BoS, there are videos on awry factions 2faction not in this series yet (not even mentioned) is Minutemen and railroad when it comes to what best for ppl this2 were best choices in FO4 to side with, sins BoS there was not bad when it comes to humans, but was like wipe out all none humans to restore the old world, included friendly super mutants and ghouls ofc u can join all factions but at 1point they collide and u half to betray1, i think siding with bos u actually betray 2 factions sins they have high tech and also they want to be in control meaning there is no place for 2police forces, i mean FO4 bos seem to have mix of 2factions view/ideology, about technology and guarding ppl, if i remember correctly second post: BoS for has many cells all over the world with different views and ideology, original view ideology is technology bad, that they advanced 2fast and it was like giving gun to a child, they are ok with technology what we in real life have but there is more advanced technology most what s1 has not shown, and that theology they horde, they don't care if u use it do defend urself, they take it by force, and exterminate all none humans to restore the old world, they don't care if ur sentient being, so even ghouls are in BoS hit list but lower priority cause there are bigger threats, some BoS cells want to help ppl, want to bring law and order back, sort of Enclave is basically anti-BoS biggest nemesis to BoS, leftover from american government with army and scientists and power armor, but they are sinister group Only good factions are minutemen and railroad from fallout4 game, they mite come in to the tv show s2 or s3, other factions have issues and some have many cells with some cells good other cells problematic and some cells genocidal
I’m on episode 6 i love the show and references also I played all the fallout 3-4 and new Vegas 100 times my girlfriend never played the games but is watching it with me and loves it too !
@@BloodBathhhh Its a solid 8 or 9 for me. Closer to 9. I have a hard time giving anything a 10 though, so thats really good. I have a few gripes, but nothing major.
I finished the season yesterday and I think it was very good overall. I do think some episodes end up being a bit weaker toward the end and rushed, so I wish they would just do more episodes, but this is the new trend, really expensive budget and fewer episodes. I'm a big Fallout fan, so I really like all the little details and stuff they have in here, especially the story within the vault that continues with Lucy's brother. If you're going to try any of the games, Fallout 4 is probably the most accessible at this point though a lot of people hated 4, but New Vegas is my favorite. Whatever you play, look up if there are fan mods or bug fixes, because there can be a lot of crashes, a lot of soft-locks, etc. that people have had to create fixes for because Bethesda and Obsidian didn't really do a good job of cleaning them up in 3, 4, and New Vegas in particular.
If you do start playing Fallout games, just know it's an entirely different beast from stuff like COD or Spider-Man, other popular games. I had trouble getting into Fallout 76 and Fallout 3 at first cause I hadn't played a game by Bethesda at first
Good call. I have a weird experience. Fallout 3 was one of the earliest games I ever played, so for me, the Bethesda interface became really intuitive. I have trouble with games like Spiderman for that very reason.

Fallout is one of my favourite game franchises I definitely recommend it. They did a great job adapting the world into a TV show
Agreed 💯
To give you an idea, Chris Nolan's brother created Westworld, and co-wrote the scripts for Interstellar, Dark Knight, TDK Rises, and other stuff too.
You've actually seen plenty of Jonathan Nolan work, at least as a writer, from Memento to Dark Knight trilogy, Interstellar and other his brother Chis Directed. He is not only directing some in here, he is a showrunner for this. He was a showrunner for the Westworld with his wife.
Happy to see you didn't think Maximus did it. Most reactors were convinced he did which makes no sense if you think about it for more than 3 seconds

The gun that shot junk was in the games. In FO3 it was a Rock-It launcher, in FO4 the JunkJet.

The nukes in Fallout aren't even super high-yield like they are in real life. The blast isn't the big problem, the radiation is.
It's been thoroughly debunked over time, but back in the 50s it was really a pervasive myth that everyone back then knew as "common knowledge".
@@SSgtJ0hns0nNo it wasn't. There are 0 examples of it that are older than some random fallout fan's reddit post.

You wont regret it
Dude. Hearing all the music from the games in the show made me happy. If only you had played the game before.
For understanding, a short chronology - 2102 (Fallout 76), 2161 (Fallout 1), 2241 (Fallout 2), 2277 (Fallout 3), 2281 (Fallout: New Vegas), 2287 (Fallout 4), 2296 (Fallout series)
So the show is canon within the games?
@@notBrockerYes, it’s a new entry in the series, not a game but a show.
