I compared it to my soundcore motion boom and soundcore boom 2. Both go louder, sound better and have much more bass. Sure the build quality is not as good as JBL but that's what you're paying for with them lol. 179 MSRP for the charge 5 is fucking hilarious especially when the motion boom plus from soundcore also exists. Goes deeper in the bass, gets much louder and sounds better. Need I say more? Lol Oh let's not forget the dog shit equalizer JBL gives you. 3 band eq is all they give when soundcore gives 9 band eq on the motion boom and boom plus while the boom 2 gives a full 9 band parametric equalizer. I'm sure you don't even understand what I'm saying but that's my story lmfao.
Jbl speakers are actually super nice, when my dad got a boombox I was just expecting a nice Bluetooth speaker which it is but it sounds super clear in person. I compared it to my $250 headphones which yes are headphones and the room you’re in doesn’t matter but it is definitely close in clarity, sounds more clear out of all the speakers in my house and even my two 5.1 surround setups. One does use cheaper Logitech speakers

The box doesn't have nearly enough bass when playing really loud.... In all the videos they always put the camera in front of the box so that it sounds good.

In my opinion the Charge5 is probably the best speaker on the planet. It rocks period. If you buy only one speaker in your entire life it should be the Charge5.

The Charge 5 now has an equalizer through the JBL app. Now you can turn that bass up even more! The higher bass level is definitely noticeable.
