This was always another question i had on my mind. Especially when it comes to 2 soft. Thanks 4 putting this out. I have a small bottle & i thought I had to use it for every color I'm putting on a pair of Converse. Can't wait to see ur next project.
Your videos are awesome, and I've learnt so so much. Thank you 😁 I have also seen some videos where the artists did mention you could use reducer/thinner if you were ever in a pinch and can't get/don't have any 2 soft to hand, if you where going down the 2 soft/gac route 😁👍 I have used both and none and came to the same conclusion as yourself which fills me with a lot of confidence in my trails and errors 😀 😂
Can agree the angelus 2 soft is needed on size 12 men shoes. I painted my nike max zeros. 1 pair with 2 soft and 1 without in the toe box and without it became very stiff and had small cracks on the fabric
Thank you for this! It’s a question I’ve asked myself so many times, because I haven’t really noticed any difference. And it’s always a huge pain in the butt when using fabric medium, and just having to have it on hand is annoying to me😅
Actually acrylic paint is meant to be used on canvas (paintings). However if you're worried about cracking you should try diluting the acrylic paint first with Fifty percent water and slowly build up layers using this solution. Also extra details can be painted on with permanent (alcohol based) markers
@Sharperthanu1 i thought the same thing originally, but in one of Angelus' how to videos they say that diluting with water can compromise the strength and integrity of the paint. Maybe that's good marketing talk, maybe not 🤣
@Sharperthanu1 ah I see! Unfortunately shoes just flex too much and they always always crack. Diluting acrylic with water makes it thinner, yes, but not more flexible Unfortunately 😢
This dude is a goof, don’t listen to him.. I’ve seen several of his videos and he definitely wants you to fail… don’t ever listen to people who take short cuts or encourage you to, GAC 900 is 13 dollars for a bottle that will last you a month( I customize 3 pairs of shoes a week)
Sooo since you do custom shoes… I had a friend paint some converse with acrylic paints and we did look up the best way to do it first so we didn’t use fabric medium. What should I do now? How do I protect them?
@ well for canvas it’s a little bit of a tossup I always use GAC 900 in all my paint for any shoe material just for the flexibility, but cloth like canvas soaks the paint up pretty good, I would hit it with one spray or paint through of acrylic finisher with a heat dry

Thanks! Got a "how to customize VANS" coming up with that SpongeBob art you recommended!
@@thatmadartist ohhh SpongeBob. Ok can't wait to check it out

Thanks for the feedback! I am glad I learned this when I did, I am sure it will save me a headache or two!

@@Inkedup128 yeah agreed! For bigger surface areas it's definitely helpful!
Can I let 2-soft air dry, or do I need to blow dry?
@LADYDIVAful definitely use a hairdryer! The additive is heat activated so heat is definitely needed! Otherwise they might stay tacky
Hi, have you tried dala leather paint? (Much easier on the pocket)
@shameerjogi7280 I have. Never been a fan of the quality of dala paints 🙈
Can i use that angelus acrylic paint in my Truck Jacket like levis?
@bonifaciomagdiwang1697 yes you can! Check out my other videos! I paint a denim jacket with Angelus and explain how to go about it! Hope it's helpful
Thank you for this!

@@thatmadartist I meant diluting regular acrylic paint not Angelus leather paint

Good info, thanks

I’ve done several pairs of high top vans and never had any chips or paint fade
