In a former life, I was working with some guys demolishing a building, and had a lot of time running an oxy-propane cutting torch. It sure did the trick, and a building’s worth of I-beams, roofing and siding tin got torched into smaller pieces and recycled.
I use oxy propane and my welding truck, I can get a propane exchange on almost every gas station, I’ve cut 1” plate with them, and they are better for a rosebud, don’t have to worry about heat output to bottle size ratios
I switched over to propane for cutting and welding with torches a long time ago. Was able to use same gauges as acetylene but had to buy a propane tip for the cutting torch.
I bought into oxy pro because of this video. I've got a brazing job that's been sitting on my healing bench for a long time though. I'd like to see some good beginners videos for oxy pro brazing setup. as far as heating and cutting, no complaints, no problems thus far.
My Harris 62-5E with a #6 tip cuts up to 12” thick plate on propane/ oxygen. She’ll bark thru a big oxy tank in about 20 mins running that tip. I have it throttled down to a #4, still cuts up to 6” thick, but I mainly work with up to 2” plate fab. It’s only a cutting torch, but heats small parts for bending quickly as well ( I don’t torch weld). And I don’t have that black soot shit floating around either.
Is it worth it im sure for casual use especially not starting with anything but probably not professionally right because I assume it's taking more oxygen

do you need a propane specific rosebud , having trouble finding info for oxy propane rosebud ? I have a smith torch .
No I don’t think you need a specific one. I had one from tractor supply for the longest time

I use both. The heat is good, but I do use more oxygen with propane. That propane tank is currently $20 to exchange.
Thank you for posting this!
Thx for sharing Stretch !!

What gets a guy cancelled? My biggest propane rosebud sounds like a 747.
