Barney was like my security blanket, a father figure in times of loneliness. Everytime Barney sang "i love you" it signaled his goodbye for now. I always cried everytime Barney sang i love you. It reminded me of how my dad would spend some time with me, say i love you and then disappear for another week. I still can't look at Barney without wanting to cry and hug him. Just like my dad, Barney was always behind a screen, i could never touch him or tell him how much i love him back I never really attached myself to blankets or stuffed animals, but my dad's sock and a barney plushie that sang "i love you" were 2 things I couldn't let go. It always broke my heart to see how much Barney was hated growing up. In 3rd grade I pretended to hate barney in front of my classmates, but at home I would rewatch my barney vhs tapes over and over for comfort and solace. They always made me cry towards the end. I still have those vhs tapes

I to feel exactly the same way you did ie I to always cried when listening to it : not because it made me sad because it was so uplifting and touching .. I can honestly relate to all you said . I love the song so much I cried myself to sleep for many years but it really helped me for up my days growing up ever since my biological dad left me but I'm very happy I have a new family with a new dad. To be there for me every step of the way. Throughout my whole health issues I've been having and made me very happy I love this song so much one of my favorite memories I will never forget throughout the whole TV series cuz I have a happy family I got my second chance. To Love me. God gave me hope and a wonderful family and still have to take care of my brother and my mom. And my new dad I am very happy man.

All the teachers could do was tell me not to wear the watch anymore instead of actually helping. So I had to stop wearing a gift from my grandparents that I liked. I think it hurt their feelings, too. Sad times.
