Nice video! I'm really enjoying the 4-part 1725 Naust copy in ebony that I bought from you nearly a year ago. Playing it is the highlight of each day.

The flutes in this video documentary are of wood with metal joints for keys. I wonder if the warm sound is caused by the wooden body unlike the modern flute.

Indeed, the wood makes a difference as opposed to the metal body of a modern flute. An other important factor, however is that 18th and 19th century simple-system flutes have a conical body (narrower at the end) which create more resistance and a darker, more covered sound. Modern silver flutes have a cylindrical body and much bigger toneholes, resulting in a more direct, louder sound.

Rachel Brown is a certainly a treasure. I hope orders for this model flow in as fast as they did for Boehm. (Maybe not quite that fast.)😊

Does this flute play slightly high-pitched? It has a real charm to it.

Thank you! It plays between A438-442 depending on the position of the slide. I think we recorded here at slightly below 440.

T H A T was xing fantastik! I know absolutely nothing of you, your channel, so excuse me. At the onset, the audio was difficult to pick out your words from the mix. Just bumped my cheap tablet vol. to 9 and slowed the playback by 25%. After two min. my mind was adjusted to your voice and thats all to that. Beautiful production! The (seemingly) ever present music, it's too much to list? Just welldone! Oh wish you all,/both?, a pleasant Thanksgiving, SS✝.

Beautiful flutes you make. I am a Jazz and Latin-Cuban flute player, I wonder if these Boehm could fit in a charango style? I live in Hong Kong but in my next rip to Montréa, I would very much like to try your Boehm.

Hi Pierre! That's an interesting idea, but I think it can work well as the high register on the Boehm is really great. Get inn touch when you are in Montreal, I will be happy to give you the workshop tour!
