I am so fortunate to live in an area in the state of Pennsylvania, USA where we have a lot of the traditional meat markets, dairies, and bakeries. Plenty of farm fresh foods.

Do it again, Scott. It's a very compelling format. There's one in France every Sat. afternoon on FR 3 at 1315 GMT called "Les Carnet de Julie" (Julie's Notebook). If you can access French TV, give it a look even if you don't understand the language. The experience will be edifying, nonetheless. The hostess, Julie Andrieu, travels all around the country featuring local producers and dishes specific to the area. It's instructional and entertaining.

Great stuff. I wholeheartedly support local artesanal food producers given the opportunity, which is rare, sadly.
Many years ago we lived in a village near Stony Stratford (it's steeped in history folks - wikipedia it!) and bought fresh baked bread each Saturday from an artesanal bakery. Then back home, slice the still warm loaf, and smother in lashings of butter - sheer heaven.
As a kid I had dripping on bread for Sunday tea. I'm 67 yrs old and my ticker is as sound as a pound; my BMI index is on the money The 4th lobe on my liver, however, is a minor concern, but what the hell, enjoy life.
When I do the shopping I always go for my meat where there are dead animals hanging on hooks.
I only found you a couple of months ago, but this is now my favourite food channel.
    Cheers!

We started raising chickens a couple of years ago, and I couldn't agree more about the fresh eggs. No egg bought at a store can compare to one you just retrieved fresh from the chicken! Ultra-yellow yolk, firm white, and actual flavor.

I'm now in my mid 60s but I still remember the bacon and egg sarnies my dad used to do for Sunday breakfast. He was a very hard working bloke so Sunday was the only day he was at home at breakfast time.
He made those bacon and egg sarnies in exactly the same way as you, dry-cured bacon from the local pork butcher at the end of the street, eggs from a neighbour who kept hens on his allotment and fresh bread from the local bakery two streets away... and that was in the City of Leeds in Yorkshire.
The only difference is that my dad didn't use the bread dry; oh no, he would dip one side of each bread slice in the bacon fat, so that absolutely nothing in the way of flavour was wasted. I've never had a bacon and egg sandwich since that was so tasty, except those that I've done myself using the same method. Not too sure that they are entirely healthy but what the hell, you only live once.
